Nightmare experience
I ordered two windows for replacement after the original ones began to leak 2 years after the sale of my apt (Pella warranty only covers 1 year), was told they do offer installation during the sale, but later got calls from multiple people from Pella claiming they only do curbside delivery, and would not give me any contact for an installation company to use. I was given the impression that no installation company that worked with them existed. And so had to spend thousands extra on labor and installation from another company because of their lack of communication.
They also canceled two different delivery dates without telling me, as they do not send out confirmation emails, so you will have to constantly call and remind them of the delivery date, etc. My window delivery was over 2 months late because you will have to beg and plead for them to schedule it in the first place.
I got the delivery scheduled, and the next day I got a call from Pella's Installation company claiming they will deliver and install 2 months after the new delivery date! They have no idea what theyre doing at all and its really unfortunate. I had already scheduled the other companies to finish the job they left undone, and had to refuse their offer of an even later shittier delivery and install job.
Please take it from me and use a different company that won't screw you over like this. I will never use this company again.
Outstanding Servce, Installation, and Price!
We had an outstanding experience with Pella Windows DFW, thanks to Ernie Borroto, our Replacement Sales Consultant. Ernie did a phenomenal job educating us on the quality, longevity, and logistics of installing the windows. He was always timely and maintained strong communication throughout the entire process.
Ernie guided us every step of the way, even after the installation was complete. On installation day, he visited to ensure everything went smoothly and checked in on us, demonstrating his dedication to excellent customer service. He was flexible and helped us explore various financing options for the windows, making the process much easier for us. Ernie was always courteous and professional, and we believe all Pella consultants should follow his example. He's clearly the best at his trade and deserves a raise.
We also want to commend Ashton and Mekshek, the father and son duo who installed our windows. Their expertise and seamless teamwork were evident in the flawless installation. They were professional, efficient, and a pleasure to work with.
Overall, our experience with Pella Windows DFW was exceptional, thanks to Ernie, Ashton, and Mekshek. Highly recommended!
Pella windows claim to be superior
Pella windows claim to be superior, however I just purchased a home with Pella windows and doors, they have blinds between the glass and 1 window has a cracked. I contacted Pella and they forward my email to a local representative, we don’t support them windows any more we will give a quote to replace them. Who as a home owner can afford to replace top of the line windows and doors every 20 yearsThey won’t even provide literature to Support upkeep, Shame on them.
Good windows but the customer service…
Good windows but the customer service sucks
Don't bother with this crap company
Don't bother with this crap company. Their warranties are garbage. They tell you things are covered, then proceed to charge you $100s to have someone come out to take care of any warranty issues.
Don't even bother if something breaks outside of the warranty. I had a blind break in a sliding door and they want to charge $700+ for a single blind!!!!!! They might as well ask for your first born child as well. I have three Pella doors currently, their products will never be in another property of mine again.
Replace your old drafty windows with beautiful new Pella drafty windows
It's hard to add more to the host of 1* reviews, but perhaps this experience will be useful to other hapless Pella customers.
We contracted with Pella for 20 Pella Reserve windows (7 fixed frame, 13 double hung) in June 2023 and they were installed Sept 2023 as promised. They indeed look great and we had chosen them as a very close match to the look of our 25-year old Lincoln wood windows.
On the installation, an installer put his foot through the ceiling. No big deal, accidents happen, just fix it. The foreman had a worker patch it with spackling. I asked if they had used drywall tape, and he said it would be fine when it dried. Of course it wasn't and when they sent a tech to repair it properly, they had not informed him it was a 20' ceiling so he had to return in 2 weeks with scaffolding.
Additionally, one of the double hung windows was completely the wrong size, even though the shipping label said it was the correct size. I asked the foreman how long to get another and he said maybe 2-3 days. Of course, it took two months under expedited delivery. The foreman (and subsequently other bosses) seem to treat customers like pliable dolts.
So, two months later, the new window was installed. The tech said he didn't really like this Reserve window because it was so heavy and he showed me how difficult it was to raise and lower.
After he left I saw there was daylight showing between the sash and the frame, maybe 1/4' and the fame was bowed so it was too tight at the top and bottom and way loose at the middle. (The window was not too heavy, it had been installed wrong!) Also the window mullions had excessive gaps.
So a new window was ordered which showed up in two months. The new tech did a great job of installing it.
Then we had some cold weather (20F, cold for MD) and we found signifiant drafts around 4 or so windows. (Some new one were ok but the new ones with gaps leaked more than the 25 year old Lincoln windows on the back of the house that we had not replaced)
(All these problems relate to the 13 double hung windows: the 7 fixed frame windows are in an unused attic and seem to be good, at least from a distance.)
The tech reinstalled the 4 windows so there were no drafts. But while doing smoke tests and IR temperature tests, we found 2 more that leaked.
At this point the crew chief (?) of the original installers came out and fixed the 2 leaking windows, but gave me a hard time, saying that he would tighten them as much as I wanted, but that all windows leak. (Yes, in principle they do under severe conditions, but not significantly in mild weather. Also, I've used windows before, and they do slide up and down.)
While he was here, I showed him a problem on of the few windows that had not been reinstalled. The lower sash releases by squeezing latches on either end that retract pins so the sash can be rotated inward and then cleaned or removed. On ours, the sash had to be raised to near the top and then wrestled from the frame.
The crew chief examined this window and asserted that it was installed too tight but that was apparently the way I wanted them. I told him that I thought the window should work properly and it was their job, not mine, to install.
After he left, I found that the pin on the sash was not retracting completely on one side. He had obviously seen this problem but had decided to b.s. me rather than fix it.
Pella agreed to fix this. We went back and forth a a month or so, trying to get Pella to figure out whether this was a field repair or a new window was needed.
Pella finally agreed to send someone for a field repair, but by that time Pella had visited >8 times after the initial installation, and so we decided to call it a day
Conclusion: (1) If you go with Pella, be prepared to do their quality control (QC) for them. The installers are motivated to get out of the house as soon as possible.
(2) While this experience is strictly with Pella Mid Atlantic, it looks from the reviews like a national problem.
I purchased 2 Pella 150 series vinyl…
I purchased 2 Pella 150 series vinyl sliding patio doors. They don't come with screen doors and local Pella dealer told me they are unavailable. How can that be. The universal type with extendable height options are too flimsy. Sorry I didn't go with another company.
Mediocre service
Mediocre service, took more than 3 months to install windows and doors. The company issued permits after the installation causing me aggravating experience, instead of requesting permits before the installation. The whole process still ongoing and the team is entirely mediocre from the sales representative by being a sexual Do not buy for this company. Unpleasant experience. Project management of the entire team completely unpleasant.
French Doors Great, Service time - unacceptable
French Doors I received were great. Buyer beware, if Pella branded door handles do not work at some point (it will happen), you'll need to wait 3-months to schedule a person just to visit and find out what's wrong, You cannot call a 3rd person lock smith as they do not service pella according to customer service. They stated this happens all the time in NJ with wait times with other locations booking for August. With this kind of service demand, hire more poeple, i was willing to pay for someone to come this week is more acceptable.
Horrible experience would not recommend.
On March 13, 2024 when I paid half down, I was promised my windows in 3 to 4 weeks. We received a phone call telling us that our windows were on the way and we should receive them on April 11, 2024, Yesterday were notified that we would not be receiving them until April 27, 2024. We are now on week 5. Construction has been on hold waiting on our windows. All of the crews that we have lined up were scheduled to start the beginning of this week based on what we were promised by Pella. This lie told to us by Pella has put a halt on our new house. I am very frustrated and wish I had gone with Anderson instead. If you need your windows soon, don't order from Pella. They will lie to you to get your business without a care of putting off your project.
The doors leak, go off track, and howl. You will not be pleased
I bought my sliding doors 2 years ago, a forty foot expanse, as well as another 30 feet on each of two sides. The four main sliders open in the middle to a beautiful expanse of 10 feet, each.
Sadly, within a few months of the installation, the large doors went off the track. They are large and too heavy to pop back on so pella sent two large gentlemen to put them back on the track. This was the first time. There have been quite a few times since.
And, the windows leak. In fact, I have taken photos of the outside showing from the bottom of the door. The weatherstripping was replaced but, they still leak, and whistle. Sounds like a boat horn when the wind blows. Scares my animals to death and renders my tv room useless.
The service people are lovely, and so kind, but the four, main windows do not fit.
I was told today that the deck outside the door is the problem and that the service team cannot help me. Same deck they measured when the doors were sold to me. No problem then.
Also, I have been told that the “lifetime guarantee” written on my sales slip is not accurate. They don’t give lifetime guarantees.
Pretty doors. But save your money.
I paid in full for a Pella window and installation but never received it
I purchased a Pella window in the end of February 2024 with a contract stating I would have it and installed by the 1st of April 2024 at the very latest. They said they actually expected it delivered and installed my mid to late March. Every week they come up with a new date after the window doesn't arrive on the scheduled date. Pella refuses to provide any tracking information to even prove that they made the window and I had to pay 10% of the window and installation fee up front yet the window never arrived. Pella says "trust us we made it and put it on a truck you will get it eventually we just can't tell you when that will be." I have never heard of a company refusing to provide tracking on a product to prove that they made and shipped a product yet Pella say they do not have to provide any information and that you will eventually get the window you paid for but how long or when that will be who knows. Stay away from Pella if you actually need a window as you never know if you will ever get the window even though you paid for it. If you have a remodeling project that you needed the window before the remodel could take place look elsewhere as Pella is not reliable at meeting any delivery timeline and you never know when you will ever get your windows from them. Pella even goes on to say that they have different shell companies so you can never find the Pella that will take liability for this the Pella Corporation has so many shell companies you will never find out which one has any liability.
So poor quality no second chances
I purchased my house in 2002 with brand new Pella windows in, great selling point to have such a high quality window in the house. That’s what I thought until 3 years later the wood frame windows wrapped in aluminum are already rotting. After complaining I find out that there is a class action suit against them for these windows that initially won but was overturned later on for some BS lawyering. I’ve limped these windows along for as long as I can and finally have to replace them, but After this experience with Pella I’ll never use their windows again to allow them even an opportunity to show me if they have improved. As far as I am concerned if they put a product out that was this poor quality in the first place and they aren’t a company that has values. Do the right thing and recall your product that was bad from the get.
Unsatisfactory windows and installation
I entered into a contract November 2023 with Mountain View Pella Windows. They said at that time they would have 3 windows and a sliding glass door sometime in December 2023 or January 2024. Per the contract I put down a 50% deposit. They installed the windows and door January 22, 2024. It is the worst job I have ever seen. The one window has a thin irregular sharp edge that hurt my finger when I tried to open it. I had grabbed it on the sides of the thin lip, but it wouldn't go all the way up. It instead stopped halfway and then went back and forth from side to side rubbing my fingers raw. The other windows are filthy. The seams of the windows are black with something either growing in them or impregnated in them. There is caulk everywhere while missing areas that need a good bead of caulk. They lost the stickers to prove what windows they installed, but they look and act like cheap big box windows. I and an installer looked for over an hour searching the garbage for stickers but only found two of the four. I told the person in charge that day the windows were not satisfactory. He became very angry and physically threatening. The walkthrough was supposed to be January 23, 2024. No one showed up nor called. I have been trying to get a walkthrough ever since, but there has been no response to my calls or e-mails. I have not heard from anyone at Mountain View Pella with the exception of accounting demanding payment in full or they will put a lien on my house in which I reply I need my windows either repaired or replaced and to do that I need a walkthrough. I cannot use my windows and door for fear of repeat injury or changing any evidence needed for a walkthrough. It is just a nightmare. The door leads to the backyard, but I have to go out the front and all the way around to go to my backyard because I don't dare use anything until I have my walkthrough.
UPDATE: July 25, 2024 I have found out by our Regional Building Department that MVP let their business license go to inactive December 1, 2023. They should have cancelled the contract at that time and refunded my deposit. Unfortunately, they came to our home under the guise of a legally operating business partially installing hazardous windows and demanding payment in full before completing them. I would recommend anyone thinking about doing a major job at their home to ask for a copy of the contractor's business license and insurance. Both of those items are required in our area to maintain an active business license, and it turns out for a good reason. I also am in the need of a good lawyer to get my deposit back. If someone reading this can help, I would be interested.
My problem with Pella Windows has been…
My problem with Pella Windows has been resolved due to the involvement of the store owner.
Poor installation,poor customer service…
Poor installation, poor customer service and NO FOLLOW UP. Windows had to be reinstalled because first installer did not level the window. Many phone calls and emails were made and then they tried to send the first installer back! I specifically requested they not use them. So a new service date had to be scheduled. Everytime I called I was given the run around. This year our living room is freezing and I believe the first installers did not put foam insulation in the frame. I am beyond disappointed in this company.
RUN FROM PELLA!!
RUN FROM PELLA!!! If I can prevent just 1 family from the NIGHTMARE experience of the bogus quality and customer service it will be worth it. TRUST THE OVER 80% 1 STAR REVIEWS, I don’t know of another company with consistent 1 (or zero) star reviews over the many different review sites. The experience is basically the same across the board of reviews, sub par quality and a company the doesn’t stand behind their garbage product. AGAIN RUN BABY RUN AND KEEP RUNNING AND THEN RUN SOME MORE. PELLA IS NOT THE WINDOWS OR DOORS YOU WANT ON YOUR HOME.
Very poor installation. No customer support
I contracted with the Pella Showroom in Monroe, Ct. to install 13 Pella replacement windows. Several of the windows were installed in rotting wood left from the old windows and were not repaired as promised, as they should have been. The insulation job was hastily done and resulted in foam insulation on the exposed parts of the windows. Some windows were left with large voids. The installers scarred several walls and left a messy work area. This should not have happened with the cost of the installation. When I called the dealer, they never returned my call. A call to Pella customer service resulted in a hang-up. Should have gone with Andersen. I'm actually surprised that Pella is still in business.
Do not use the pella company under any circumstances no show in several appointments fir Installations. Faulty Installation new windows installed fogging and leaking wrong size windows measured.
Pella windows can refund my $30,000 dollars. Before I take legal action
No show on installation dates loss time from work faulty Installation on new windows. Wrong size windows measured. New windows leaking and fogging. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

OF ABOUT THE NIGHTMARE
We have used Pella Windows and Doors…
We have used Pella Windows and Doors for decades! Every house we have owned had Pella products and Pella Service people were so great to come out yearly and perform a "Tune-Up" on our windows and doors to keep them working well. Recently we decided that our 40 year old Log Cabin was feeling very drafty even after replacing the furnaces and AC Units. We decided to Replace All of our 40 year old Pella Windows and doors. We cannot believe the difference. No more drafty cold areas. Pella Sales Rep Zach knew exactly what we needed. He worked with the installers Jim & Nathan and got us scheduled. We're laughing because today is October 12 and they have beautifully finished the job on the same day they were scheduled to start the 2 week installation. Pella Products are Exceptional. Sales Rep knew exactly how to provide us correct products to install. The Installers were Professional, Neat and Clean and with little or no disturbance to our home furnishings. Thank you Pella! I would give you 25 Stars if they would let me! PLUS THEY OFFERED 24 MONTHLY PAYMENTS SAME AS CASH!
Warm Regards,
Rick & Katherine Campbell
