Improperly installed and/or defective window and door products and awful product support

We had Pella Calgary install windows in our dining and living room areas along with a front door with two sidelights. The Pella representative who took the pre-installation measurements for these products managed to get the measurements incorrect three times. This resulted in on our finding out the day of scheduled installation that the wrong size products had been ordered and we would have to reschedule. Once the products were eventually installed issues soon became evident. Issues such as frosting and ice appearing on the interior of the windows in sub-zero temperatures, frosting on the interior of the front entrance way (though not on all legacy builder grade and installed windows). Bowing on the exterior jamb liner of the dining room picture window frame. These issues were looked at during warranty and band aid solutions were applied (ie re-caulking around interior of window casing, re-application of weather stripping that had prematurely worn due to an unevenly installed sill on the front entrance. Pella service has been consistently irresponsible and careless. Increasingly bizarre excuses were offered by Pella support for the poor performance of their products. I would highly recommend against using Pella Calgary

Job not repaired 5 months later

Nice when I was buying . Installation is 3 doors went fairly well. Paid 10,000 $ However. I could not get storm door to lock one month after installation. Someone came out and rehung door. However stripped molding and now 5 months later, Still not fixed . Have made multiple calls and even stopped by Show room several times . Not impressed with customer service and the guarantee is not worth the paper it’s written on . When I’ve called service number , can’t get the storm door department.

High on promse, short on delivery

Our local Pella (franchisee) replaced our front exterior door and sidelight in 2020 . It took them almost a year and three installation attempts before we had a door and sidelight installed. The initial install had to be rescheduled because the door and sidelight were made with incorrect measurements. The second time, a properly sized door and sidelight were installed but the installation was poorly done and the sidelight had seal issues. This was agreed with by the sales person and the door manufacturer's representative. A third door and sidelight was ordered and installed. I will reiterate that the door and sidelight provided were NOT Pella products but were made locally by a "Pella approved" company. We requested a final invoice after the work was completed but did not get one and the salesman became unresponsive after the "final installation" so the only paperwork we have from them is the initial quote. It's been a year and a half since the "final installation" and the door is now not closing properly and the weatherstripping at the bottom of the door has torn apart due to it rubbing against the step plate. Our old wood sidelight and wood door was over 50 years old and I cannot foresee what they were replaced with by the Pella franchisee lasting that long. I cannot recommend Pella as a whole because they are selling you products and promises that may not be delivered by their franchisees.

The worst customer service

We had sliding doors installed. The metal skin on the outside is bubbling.
The warranty they post on the internet says LIFETIME. Pella hides behind voicemail and emails. Save your money and go with someone that supports what they build.

Sadly I ordered a replacement exterior…

Sadly I ordered a replacement exterior door from the Pella office in Vienna Virginia. They told me you could go into the office and see all the door products and see what you were buying. Wrong, they have a total of 3 exterior door samples. Be warned that fiberglass means cheap plastic. Save yourself heartache and go elsewhere. Poor communication, poor service and poor products.

PLEASE READ REVIEWS ON THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS WEBSITE

I have no trust left for either the Pella manufacturing company or any of the Pella sales and installation people after my experience and the experiences of those with complaints listed on the Consumer Affairs website. My experience has been the same as theirs.

Signed a contract with a Pella salesperson in June 2020 to have all of the windows in our home replaced. Wrong order, wrong glass type, wrong size, cut into the house to make it fit (yeah, actually used an electric saw to reshape the window opening in the house without asking), reorder wrong glass type, reorder wrong size, re-reorder wrong glass, installed wrong, measured wrong, missing parts, screens wrong size.... As of today (Nov 2, 2021), they've blown off appointments, haven't returned calls, and blame Pella mfg for everything. I don't know if they're right or wrong--I have no idea if they're telling me the truth.

I do know that it's been 1 year and 5 months, and our windows still aren't finished. I don't actually expect them to be completed anymore. Problem is, for resale value, where am I going to find the missing parts?

PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS ON THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS WEBSITE. I sure as heck wish I had. Zero. Trust.

Installation Disaster

We built a home in Iowa over 20 some years ago and used Pella. They were great windows and a great experience. Fast-forward to today. I signed the contract and paid over $35k for the deposit for over 30 windows and doors in Feb of 2021. I was given an installation date for the third week in May. That was changed until the last week in June. That was an inconvenience, but given the logistical issues coming out of covid, understandable. So the date finally arrives for installation and it's discovered that all the windows and doors were measured incorrectly and are too small (except three doors). Of course a few windows were knocked out in the process and the contracted installation crew (which consisted of a fantastic crew of veterans) had no choice but to shore up the windows as best they could. Now I am told I have to wait yet another 12 weeks for the factory to fabricate my windows. I'm told I go to the end of the line and wait as if I'm a 'new' customer. No apologies. Then they have the nerve to blame covid. They refused to take any responsibility for the incompetent measuring of the windows (and they came out twice after the sales guy measured initially). Since then it's been a comedy of errors like failure to have windows on a truck, windows too heavy to deliver or pick-up. Yes, I still have windows and equipment sitting on property and it's 20 July. I've attempted to escalate the issue outside of their regional president area, but their Customer Service IVR has prompts, but they don't lead anywhere. I e-mailed and texted. I did get a text back, but the agent couldn't help me. She just directed me back to the local team. This company should invest in a Chief Customer Officer as their customer escalation process is a circular mess. At this point, we just want our money back. Until I get someone from corporate, I'll settle with hitting them on Trustpilot, Reddit and elsewhere until corporate calls.

Defective seal on all 5 lower clad…

Defective seal on all 5 lower clad panels on two ProLine 450 clad sliders leading to leaks that ruined finished basement below as water pours in through wood seams on the INSIDE of the panels. Pella lost a class-action suit on this. Purchased from Lowes in 2010, serial numbers were never entered with Pella so notification of class action never occurred. The LifeTime limited warranty claim is worthless. When I called Pella, I was told 'thank you for letting us know - is there anything else I can assist you with'. When I called Lowes, was told nothing we could do. Forced to caulk all panels to prevent any further damage but panels need to be replaced.

Buyer Beware!

Aweful! The product itself is great. They truly make a great product. They just have abysmal customer service. You cannot get a return call. No one will EVER get back to you. If a window breaks you cannot get it fixed or replaced. No other glass company can repair a Pella and Pella itself will not help you. Once your windows are installed you are on your own.

If I could go lower then 1

If I could go lower then 1, I would. We signed a contract June 2020 and provided 50% funds upfront. They changed install dates 5 times. They finally installed Feb 2021 the Back, Front and Garage doors. ALL the doors are the wrong color; one leaks, one has a gap for bugs and worse the Front Doors and Transom style doesn't match. It's taken months for someone to address the issues and a fix isn't in sights for months. (They put a contractor lien on my house because of the permits required to do the job.) I am trying to refinance my house and they won't sign the subordinate (construction lien) for 2nd place (which they are currently in 2nd place) costing me thousands of dollars. I have asked them to do the right thing and their response was: for me to pay them the balance on the contract (due after work completed) and (trust) they will correct the issues and complete the job. They have ZERO customer service and very little care, if any for their customers. Do not use this company, you will regret it like we do.

We have some older Pella casement…

We have some older Pella casement windows with retractable screens in our 1960's era house. I have been trying to get parts to repair the rollscreens, and I am amazed at the terrible and inefficient customer service. When we finally got a quote (which took 2 weeks) it was over $650 dollars for four slender aluminum tracks and two shade handles. These parts are for one small bathroom window and one average sized kitchen window. We will not be paying this - I would rather spend the money replacing the windows with another brand.

You've got to be kidding!

Wow! I can see why Pella gets bad reviews! Over 11 days ago I called Pella windows and doors in St. Pete, Florida as I wanted someone to come out and give me an estimate on window and doors with hurricane glass. The woman who answered the phone said a sales person would call me. A week went by and no one called. I contacted this business again on Tues. 10/10, and the same woman said something about the day before being Columbus Day (Really? Even the schools were open. I didn't realize Pella adhered to the government holiday schedule) and that someone would call. I was fine with that. Another week just went by with no contact. I just called now, and the same woman answered. This time she said that due to the recent hurricane they were really busy, and she was sorry, but “Sometimes things like this happen”. –exact words. So nonchalant, as if having a sales person not return a call after two weeks was no biggie. Ummm how about a phone call just to say "We're swamped, I will get back to you by this date...". I am patient. I realize the hurricane has held things up. I would have waited. But no phone call at all? This is how they run their business? Our home is huge and on the water. This job would have been a biggie. But I guess they must be doing so well that they don't even return calls. Well good luck with that!

This Company Is Selfish, Greedy And Does Not Care About Their Customers!

I sent Pella Corporation a Very Serious Letter of complaint by email back on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 because I had bought one of their Glass Screen Doors and was Very Angry, Upset and Disappointed in Their Product.

I had bought one of their Sliding Glass Screen Doors within the past year and ever since I received the Screen Door, I have NOT been able to use it and/or enjoy it 100% Due To A Bend In Their Product For The Screen Door Portion Of It Only!

This Was Not Of Any Fault Of My Own, Nor The Person Who Installed It, but rather this happened when I had received their product!

Please NOTE: I did Want To First Of All Apologize To Them For Not Reporting The Problem To Them Any Sooner, but I have Not Had The Chance To Do So Since I Have Been Out Of The Country In Toronto, Ontario Canada Going Back And Forth Over The Past Five (5) Years, Plus Helping To Take Care Of My 85 Year Old Mother who is Permanently Disabled, including suffering from a Prolapsed Bladder, Heart Condition and Low Circulation In Both Of Her Legs (Making Her Very Immobile With Her Walking) and this Happens To Be My Very First Opportunity That I Have Had In Contacting Them Directly To Inform Them Of The Incident And/Or My Complaint And To Let Them Know About My Dissatisfaction With Their Pella Corporation Product And I Have The Airplane Ticket To Prove That I Was Out Of The Country During That Time Upon Their Request!

Please NOTE: I do know that for a Fact that this product is made by Pella Corporation because Their Company Name has been engraved into The Product That I Have and enclosed in the attachments that I had provided, there were pictures showing Them Their Product which include Pictures of the Engraving Of Their Company Name Into The Product for their reference and further review.

Final Thoughts: I sincerely Hope That They Back Up And Guarantee Their Products 100% because this was My Very First Pella Corporation Glass Screen Door that I have ever owned in My Life and Hopefully Not My Last One, however, They Have Disappointed Me Very, Very Much so far!

In the mean time, if They Could Please Either Take Back Their Screen Door And/or Replace It For Me As A One Time Courtesy, then that would be More Than Greatly Appreciated!

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Howard Paul Shore

Anyway after I had sent out my letter of Very Serious Complaint, I did get a response back from Kasey, Correspondence Specialist back on August 24, 2016 informing me that my letter was received and it was forwarded to their Customer Service Specialist for a follow-up.

Sadly, the situation does Not Get Any Better!

Back on August 25, 2016, I received another letter coming from Elizabeth Phelps informing me that their Cheap, Unreliable, Non-Trustworthy Company is Declining To Provide A Replacement Screen Door At No Charge since the one that I have has a Dent In It, even though I was More Than Willing To Return The One That I Already Have before Receiving The Replacement One.

Basically, this company does Not Stand By Their Products and When I Go To Small Claims Court with the Screen Door, I Can Show The Judge How Unreliable Their Products Are and How Uncaring Their Disgusting Customer Service Department Is and I have the Documents To Prove It!

I am Never Buying Any More Pella Corporation Products Again!

No Thank You.

Bad quality, even worst service

This company is a scam. Our mistake was paying for windows and doors in full. They did a terrible job installing a very expensive door (>$10k), the inside looks like a patch work of finishes. They promised to fix it and here we are 2 weeks post installation and crickets.

DO NOT buy anything from this company as you will be disappointed in the customer service.
