This company left me stranded overnight and stole days of my life
I am writing this review so nobody else has to go through what I experienced with Pesa.
On Sunday 19th April 2025 my account was suddenly restricted without warning. I received an email stating the restriction was placed “as per my recent request.” I made absolutely no such request. The only activity on my account was a legitimate family transfer from my brother.
As a direct result of this restriction I was left physically stranded overnight with no money, no food and no means of transport. I spent the entire night outside unable to get home. I then had to work a full shift the following Monday having not eaten or slept because Pesa locked me out of my own money without any valid reason.
I contacted their support repeatedly for over 40 hours. I spoke to Segun, Idris and Mariam. Every single response was a copy and paste script. “We have escalated your case.” “Please bear with us.” “We understand your frustration.” Not once did anyone actually help me. They even called me the wrong name on Twitter.
They later admitted in a second email that the restriction was caused entirely by THEIR OWN security system update completely contradicting their initial email which falsely blamed me. So they lied to me from the very beginning.
Their verification system during this period only accepted passports and residence permit despite the UK no longer issuing BRP cards. When I told them my passport was expired and I had no BRP, their own agent told me to upload my driving licence. Their portal doesn’t even have an option for driving licences. Complete incompetence from a supposedly FCA regulated institution.
I had to file a formal complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service before they finally restored my access after over 40 hours. My Ombudsman case is now active.
But it doesn’t end there. The very same day they restored my access I attempted a simple NGN to GBP exchange. It got stuck In Progress. I tried again the following day with a larger amount same thing. Stuck overnight. It is now Saturday morning, nobody is responding to me and I still cannot access £101.27 of my own money.
This is not a one off mistake. This is a pattern of failure from a company that does not care about its customers. They are FCA regulated under FRN 931425 and I intend to ensure the regulator is fully aware of their conduct.
If you are considering using Pesa please read this review and think very carefully. Your money is not safe with them and when things go wrong they will leave you stranded, ignore you and lie to you.
Avoid at all costs.

Recently had my transaction delayed as well. Communication was not very good, but they are definitely NOT scammers. My money was refunded back to as soon as I requested for it. I think they need to improve in communicating with their customers when they are experiencing challenges with the APP.

This app is a scam and robbery scheme, I deposited money into my Pesa wallet and instantly my account was restricted. I have done everything possible and used all other means to reach them but no response. I am taking my campaign against this sham scam app on all social media platform La to alert people. They are thieves and a fraud company ripping people off. PESA IS A SCAM CAMPAIGN

Terrible experience. Do not trust them with your money.
First, they failed me during a family emergency by holding a $700 transfer for 3 days. Then, my account was compromised on April 8th. Despite notifying them within an hour of the unauthorized transfer, they’ve provided zero updates. Their "customer service" is just a delay tactic. Other apps allow instant funding via debit card; Pesa is slow, insecure, and unresponsive.

Almost 48 hrs beneficiary has not received funds even though they claim their partner bank has sent it. They even asked the beneficiary to provide account statements to prove their partner bank money did not get to the account. Customer support not very helpful either. Avoid !!! Still trying to find out where my money is.
Competitive rates don't matter if the money doesn't get there when it’s needed. Pesa's ACH funding is NOT instant sometimes, which is a huge step backward compared to their competitors. I missed an emergency deadline because my funds wouldn't load, and customer support was no help at all. Save yourself the stress and use a service that actually understands the meaning of 'urgent.' Avoid. It’s almost 24 hours my money is still not sent.

Interested in satisfying their customers, no customer service number, delayed response to email queries.
This is a bad recipe for a business intending to grow.
Pesa has not been able to process one single transaction for me without incident. Two test wallet top ups whe t missing. Pesa were slow to respond to my complaints and only resolved one satisfactorily. It’s a good job I tested their service with no more then AED30 before putting through Anyang transactions.
Customer service is polit but unable to resolve problems proactively.
There is something seriously wrong with this service. I would not recommend ever using Pesa! Try another service.

I have been using PESA for a year or thereabouts. I never had issues with my transfer and delays have been minor issues.
However, I sent money on the 5th December 2025 to someone who needed it urgently. Unfortunately the money didn't arrive. I never received an acknowledgement email that the transaction was paid either. Given there was no telephone number for Customer Services, I spent 30minutes looking on the Pesa App for how to message them. I finally found an obscure headphone button.
I sent a message on the 5th December 2025 and was given a reference number for my recipient to go into her bank and enquire with the bank. I asked why I did not receive an acknowledgement email as usual if the money had been paid to my recipient but they dishonestly reassured me that they made the payment already.
My recipient immediately went to the bank but the money did not arrive at the bank, let alone in my recipient's account. My recipient went again on the 8th December 2025 but on both occasions, the bank told my recipient that Pesa has not transferred the money.
I contacted Pesa on several occasions but they kept saying that they were working on it!
On the 14th December 2025, the money landed in my recipient's account and I received an acknowledgement email with reasons, blaming the bank for the delay. My issue is the fact that they made my recipient who was ill, go into the bank physically for no reason, in this day and age of technology!! What a backward approach to customer services.
My question is, what if my recipient had been hospitalised or out of the country and was unable to physically go into the bank to make enquiries? Would PESA have chased up the whereabouts of the transaction? I am highly disappointed as I have always assumed that they had their backroom working seamlessly but alas, it's all a farce.
Complete waste of time. Not straight forward. No customer service to contact. I have £129 locked up in app I can't retrieve. Be warned!

After depositing funds on to the pesa wallet I am unable to transfer the money to the recipient since November 13, 2025 to date. I sent an emailed severally and when they choose to respond they send out same email all the time that wait for the money to clear meanwhile the money has been cleared and marked as complete. They don't answer the phone number on file. No one should ever do business with pesa because they will frustrate you. They are sitting on my $400 and I can't even send it back to my bank.
Please for your own peace of mind avoid this app by all means necessary your bank will send the money but they will tell you the money was not sent , I even have to send them the swift code they said it is not there and based in Dubai and in case you are doubting me they use Zand bank to receive such monies
