I have previously purchased items from Peter Tyson costing many thousands and had excellent customer service.
Yesterday I went with my friend who is an audio engineer to the Carlisle store because I was interested in looking at speakers. Previously the sales staff have been excellent, I set my budget level immediately and it was clear that apart from a few cursory questions about my existing amplifier and type of music I listen to, there was no desire or drive to invest in me as a customer. Instead I was directed to the company website! I was in the store in person!!!!
I quickly broke off the conversation and no more attention were made to converse with me or my friend or to even show me products, let alone heaven forbid, allow us to have an option of listening to the products that I may have been interested in. It was a Shocking level of customer service, probably borne out of the belief that I wouldn’t be buying any high end products and was therefore not worth bothering about. Suffice to say my future many thousands of pounds will not be spent at Peter Tyson’s

We drove one hour to visit the Carlisle store. Very nice store full of pretty (expensive) gear but no help whatsoever from staff, guess we didn't have a budget high enough for them to bother with us!
On asking for help we were told "look on our website"!!!
Rubbish "assistant" aside the store doesn't seem to offer any facilities for comparing say speakers, just a couch with the system they are trying to flog to you.
Having worked in the PROFESSIONAL music industry for over half a century I was not really surprised by the treatment my friend received, hi-fi snobbery has always plagued the industry and it amuses me listening to so called experts rattle off the old sound bites to try and sound knowledgeable. If you want help from thoughtful assistants avoid this place!!!!

when i needed help with my purchases the staff replied to my questions within 24 hrs i cannot praise them enough if i need anymore hi fi equipment.peter tyson will be my first stop

The transaction went well and delivery was next day. The pre sales telephone advice was good and the item (a nearly new sub woofer) is fine.

I have purchased from Peter Tyson on three occasions always receiving good service and advice at a reasonable price.
This time I had an issue with a refurbished Denon AVC A110 I bought in 2021 so out of warranty.
The gentleman I spoke to initially could have easily said well it’s out of warranty and there’s nothing we can do speak to the Denon service centre. Instead he was sympathetic listened to my issue which I thought was hardware related and put me through to Steve in the service department.
What a pleasant and helpful chap, he talked me through a few potential causes and gave me a solution to try and it worked! As Steve suspected it was not a hardware issue at all.
Dealers are usually pretty nice from a sales point of view, it’s when there’s an issue when a good dealer shows his worth and the team at Peter Tyson makes the company one of those very good dealers, highly recommended!
