Pet Protect says it offers "Lifetime cover" for your pets. That is only the case if you can afford the eye watering premiums which start to ramp up when your pet reaches the age of seven.

Here's what happened to my premiums for my dog over the last few years...

2021-22 = £34.27 per month
2022-23 = £38.02 per month
2023-24 = £44.44 per month
2024-25 = £82.95 per month.
2025-26 = £141.01 per month.

They don't cover pets for life. They abandon them when they get over the age of seven.

RESPONSE TO THEIR REPLY:
Pet Protect replied to me via email and pointed out that my 8 year old dog is now a high risk as he's classed as a senior. So, it's not 'Lifetime cover', it's cover until they turn 8 or you have to pay massive premiums. They then add a warning that vet fees are very expensive just to remind you that if you don't insure your dog, you are taking a massive risk. How lovely.

Ive been with pet protect 10 years i had 3 policy my dog luna had a lump come up on her back my vet took a sample and it came back as cancer so my kind vet operated and found another lump so he removed the 2 at the same time PET PROTECT say it got to be 2 claims as one lump wasn't cancer so they want 2 x excess fee £150x2 and 25% x 2 on all thats left so today I cancelled all 3 of my policy's and ill save the £100 per month i was paying them for my animals DO NOT USE THIS GREEDY INSURANCE COMPANY

1 dog, aged 7, costs more to insure than all my other policies combined. It almost doubles every year and the odd claim has been for small amounts. Why do we pay a 20% vet contribution when there is only medication being claimed for? Pet insurance is daylight robbery but we couldn’t afford to pay the extortionate vet fees should our dog become seriously unwell so what choice is there…

That said, the people on the phone are nice…

Massive price hike this year, almost doubled.
Yes our dog is older, but no ongoing ailments. We’ve claimed for a few pretty standard things but that is it.
The premium was a lot more this year and gone to a comparison site and there are
many similar insurers with a monthly cost price the same as last year, so shall use one of them. Customer service wise good- shame they couldn’t match any prices or even try! Lost a long and loyal customer.

The people I have spoken to even via chat is really helpful and friendly, any claim I have has been paid out fast I have been with them for years and only had one issue which wasn’t their fault it was to do with the policy and they emailed me to explain in detail. This is a great pet insurance

Dealings with Pet Protect were handled with efficiency and courteousness. Our vet was included at all stages.

This is my second time to contact the Pet Protect via live chat. The queuing time is short and staff is super caring. Georgia (the live chatting staff) provides a high quality cilent-centered services to me and settle my concern quickly.

Good pet policy at a fair price, unfortunately had to make a claim which was extremely simple to complete and paid out within a week.
Previous insurance on another pet took 4months to pay and I spent many times on phone chasing.

Had to make an unfortunate claim after dog had to be put down, they didn't do enough to get vet records just left it weeks, I managed to get records with one email. And it's since been weeks and despite a couple of emails asking for progress still have 0 response from them, or pay out. Would of been better off without insurance. However after my above review i was contacted and issie resolved, fully paid. Amended stars, had this been outcome without complaint would of been 5 star.

PetProtect have paid several claims over the years that I have been with them, but the fees have been increasing way above inflation. The increases have not just been associated with the annual cost of the policy but also include a doubling of the ‘owner contribution’. The final straw was when they tried to increase the annual fee by >50% so the cost was just shy of £2000.
I now put the money I would have spent into my savings account which I will call upon if my dog becomes unwell.

Fantastic insurance. Our lovely boxer dog had 4 cancerous tumours not only did they pay the vets directly for us. It was all paid within 8 days effortlessly. They dealt with vets directly between constantly kept us up to date by email even confirming payments etc.

Pet Project have been great with my best friends sudden illness and vet bills, paid quickly with no argument.

We’ve had our dogs policy for nearly 11 years and have made various claims, the majority of which have been paid. Easy online claims procedure and very prompt payment, Also competitive pricing in the market. Would not hesitate to insure another pet with Pet Protect again.

Absolutely appalling, take to long when a claim is made and then a message sent asking for information on future dates , just to be told that the claim is denied

over 50% increase last year and again this year, gone from £300 a year 2 years ago to £750. I have now cancelled

I have been with Pet Protect for 6 years. In this time my dog became ill and now has ongoing medical needs/monthly treatments and medicine. Pet Protect have been fabulous to deal with. My vets were wary of doing direct claims as they were not one of the insurance companies they generally deal with, but have no issues as found out they tend to process and PAY claims within 10 days which is an amazing turn around. Online claims system make them easy to complete too. Only complaint I would have is that this year my premium has doubled to £1800 but given how they have paid out on all my claims since 2020, and my dog now being 13, although not happy, I can understand.
