Our recent experience…

Our recent experience attempting to adopt a dog through Pet Rescue.

While we are excited about the prospect of welcoming a new dog into our home, the adoption process has been overwhelming, exciting and, at times, very stressful.

When we arrived at the foster carers house, her parents also arrived, which created a very distracting environment. The dog became quite anxious with a house full of people, and it was further complicated when the carers mother mentioned she wanted to adopt the dog herself.

Regarding the meeting, the carer didn't ask us any questions and wasn't able to answer many of our own. Despite this, I was able to settle the dog, and she ultimately fell asleep in my lap.

Throughout this process, I have lost many nights of sleep with anticipation and disappointment. While I have adopted many dogs over the years from shelters and have had very pleasant experiences, I don't think we will proceed with this process again and will not put my parents through it.
