Rubbish experience

We went to a site on the Amalfi coast booked based on the pitch up description however the site facilities were not as described and the owner was allowing his own dogs to foul the camping area.
I stated all this in my pitchup review only for the owner to then claim I had a great Dane that was defecating everywhere and barking and making aggressive moves towards folk, It was actually a 9 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback, he also accused us of being rude and demanding ! I raised this with pitchup as it was totally untrue to be told nothing they can do. Am sorry you list the site, you promote it therefore your responsible under the distance selling regulations but lesson learned after 22 booking via pitchup never again been caught too many times by lies in the description think twice before you book they wash their hands of all responsibilities so what exactly they do am at a loss to say.
Phoebe has responded via email asking about issues again nothing they can do as sites are responsible again let me point you at the distance selling regulations it's your front end pitch up so it's your responsibility to maintain and check it's above board if not well I may as well use Google and save myself your commission which is what I will be doing in future
Edit
Following your response you clearly have no idea about the rules you say you comply with, as a seller which is what your are PITCHUP is responsible for it's own front end and no attempts to wriggle out will change that, for example Ebay would get prosecuted if they sold or allowed illegal goods to be sold via it's auction site. For clarity I will quote the relevant passage from the website you provided, these are things you must do and ensure it's accurate, before you say that's impossible I also use ACSI and they do just that, your obligation is stated below, it's your responsibility as the seller to check and ensure it's accurate my bank statement says pitch up therefore you sell it

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear you were unhappy with your experience. We understand how frustrating it can be when a site doesn’t meet expectations, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns.

While we do moderate responses to ensure they meet our content guidelines, we are not able to remove replies that don’t breach those guidelines, even if the content is disputed. We did remove the final line of the site's reply as it was found to be inappropriate.
We know this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, and we understand your frustration.

Please note that Pitchup.com is an online marketplace that allows customers to browse and book holiday sites. All content for listings, including descriptions, is provided by the individual campsites. We are currently in touch with you to better understand the issues you’ve raised, so we can investigate further with the campsite and work towards a resolution.

We comply with the distance-selling regulations which you can find here: https://www.gov.uk/online-and-distance-selling-for-businesses However, please note we are an online marketplace, like eBay, Booking.com and others, and campsites self-list and manage their listings.

CARAVANNERS BE AWARE BEFORE BOOKING WITH PITCUP.COMH UP

Do not use ... Be aware when you book you pay a deposit which is understandable. But... When I wanted to cancel one of my bookings made VIA PITCH UP ... 44 DAYS BEFORE ARRIVAL DATE ... 17TH JULY 2025. They would not refund the deposit I had made on that booking.
An extremely expensive way for any caravanner to lose their money.. My advice is view listings. THEN BOOK DIRECT WITH THE SITE/S YOU REQUIRE.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear of your disappointment following the cancellation of your booking.

To clarify, the non-refundable deposit is highlighted throughout the booking process—including in the terms and conditions, prior to payment, and again in the confirmation email. We aim to be as transparent as possible, so customers can make informed decisions before confirming their booking.

That said, we always remain open to reviewing cases where there are exceptional circumstances, and we did reach out to offer this option. If you’d like to provide any further context, we’d be more than happy to take another look.

We’re sorry that your experience didn’t meet your expectations and appreciate you sharing your perspective.

Best night sleep I’ve ever had under canvas

The Bell tents were very clean and tidy, with very nice little touches, such as multiple pillows and cushions, cutlery, plates and kettle in the tent. the bathroom (converted horse box) was well equipped and actually enjoyable to have a shower or bath looking out over the valley (remember to bring swim wear). The prosecco and Welsh cakes were a nice touch on arrival. The tents are arranged in such a way that you do not look out over the other tents. We did not even know other people were on the site except for when we sat in the gazebo area, where you could socialise with other campers, if you desire. The kitchen facilities were well thought through.
I would highly recommend Rockfield Glamping, and hope to stay there again soon.

No refunds!!

While Pitchup offers a great selection of campsites across the country, I won’t be booking through their website again. I needed to cancel my booking and gave 10 days’ notice, but was told I wouldn’t be receiving any refund—neither from the campsite nor from Pitchup—because their policy requires 30 days’ notice for cancellations.

Had I booked directly with the campsite, I would have been offered a refund or credit towards a future stay. To make matters worse, booking direct would also have been cheaper in this case.

Going forward, I’ll still use Pitchup to browse campsite options, but I’ll be making all future bookings directly with the sites themselves.

My advice to others: read Pitchup’s cancellation policy very carefully. If your plans change, don’t expect any flexibility or support

Thank you for your feedback.
Please note that the cancellation policy shown on Pitchup is set by the campsite. In this case, the 30-day notice would be part of the site’s terms.
The sites and holiday parks on Pitchup.com set their rates, and booking through Pitchup.com should cost the same as a direct booking.
We’d appreciate more details so we can double-check that the policy and prices on Pitchup.com match what the campsite offers directly. If there’s a discrepancy, we’ll work to get it corrected. You can contact us at enquiries@pitchup.com with more details, and our team will be happy to assist.
Thanks again for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention.

Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear this. We’re glad we were able to get in touch and help resolve the issue with you directly.
All amendments to confirmed bookings must be made with the campsite/park direct as they have full access to their allocation and operate their own amendment/cancellation policies so will be able to let you know if they can accommodate your request. This is shown in your booking confirmation email and in your user account.
We appreciate your understanding and hope your future bookings go more smoothly.

Campsite owner with the worst experience ever of these charletans

We have had an awful experience as a campsite with a listing on Pitch-Up.We were targeted by a troll who left a one star review after exhibiting disgusting behaviour whilst staying with us, she left and then repeated the same behaviour the following week and the Police were called and are investigating. We proved to Pitch-Up that her review was untrue and factually inaccurate, yet they refused to remove it and it damaged our business significantly. The troll then struck again and left a further one-star review and again despite it being factually inaccurate and the Police investigation refused to remove the second review. We take our business very seriously and this has cost us thousands, yet despite the criteria for the reviews to be removed being met, they absolutely refuse. Disgraceful company, who ignore your emails pleading for their help, and who are just an absolute joke. Avoid at all costs if you have a campsite, they will ruin you and not care.

We’re really sorry to hear how distressing this has been. We absolutely value your partnership and take your concerns seriously.

We’ve responded in more detail by email, but to reiterate: the reviews in question were submitted by two separate customers with confirmed bookings. As with any review platform, reviews are subjective. We can only remove them if they breach our guidelines — for example, if they are illegal or contain substantial false information — in line with the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority guidance.

While we understand that this may be frustrating, we do provide site owners the opportunity to dispute reviews and post a public response — a feature many platforms don’t offer — so you can share your side of the story and show future guests how much you care.

We're here to help and support you with this if you'd like.
