We stayed at Pontins Southport - DONT!

We stayed at Pontins Southport 28th May for 3 nights.
I wish I had read some these reviews before we had booked (with Sun holidays). We thought we would get a nice little cheap break.
This site is literally falling apart. I have loads of photos of broken bits all over the site. Window frames rotting and the wooden panels around the balconies falling apart. The concrete stairs up the first floor rooms with big chunks out of them.
The room itself was very dirty. The fridge and oven were clean but hairs inside cupboards and crisps down the edge of the (stained) matresses. Mould around the bath was really bad. Windows and window frames were filthy. Cracked glass in one of the windows. The kitchen units look like they were part of the original park and were very scruffy and worn. Curtains with stains down them.
There was one new bit outside - the dinosaur park bit that was clearly new and actually quite good (animatronic dinosaurs). The other outdoor children's areas were also quite good.
We went to the entertainment a couple of nights. The acts werent bad but the sound system was awful. Just too much base and distorted sound.
This place really needs to be knocked down and start again.

If I was able to give a 0 I would,

If I was able to give a 0 I would,
We booked with a Sun Holiday to Brean Sands 27th-30th May When we were given the key to our Chalet, It smelt ! It was dirty ! unfit for Humans to stay in it, We took photos of the filth !! After complaining they sent cleaners in but it still was smelly and dirty !! We could NOT stay there ! Many people also left !!
So the children weren't disappointed, we found a caravan park with availability , ended up paying £350 for 3 nights but at least it was clean and habitable , The children enjoyed their time at the beach .
Pontins needs knocking down ! Fred Pontin will be turning in his grave if he knew what state it is in,!
Appalling ! I have sent photos to trading standards.
DO NOT PUT YOURSELVES THROUGH THIS !!!

Site looks like it needs levelling !!! Not levelling up from the government. It’s time pontins realises this is not acceptable as holiday accommodation! It was probably ok during WW2 but flip it is dilapidated!!!
Got my keys to room 907 block 53 ……. To say S’t Hole !! Would be a compliment!!! Dirty dirty , a 50 year old couple offered buck beds and a single bed in what can only described as a cupboard !!! Disgusting 🤢
Room dirty , dated ( and I mean pre 60’s…… at best … curtains hanging off the rails …… not livable !! Knock it down and rebuild; stop pretending you are a holiday destination!!! 😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡🥵

Awful time at Pontins @ Brean Sands…

Came down to Pontins at Brean Sands over Easter for a Monday - Friday break with son and grandson. To say it is disgusting is an understatement. Sticky floors, chalets were freezing cold, broken bed/settee, that have not been cleaned, (or sanitized) overflowing bins, blood on quilts, grass not be moved, most things broken or out of order, oven covered in rust, no shelves in fridge, nails sticking out of fence in kids patk, one small glass for 6 of us - the list goes on and on.... spoke to reception no manager available - surprise surprise...!! We lasted one night only and left the next day.

Complained to customer services on return with full photographic evidence - no interest offered me 50% off my next booking with them!!

PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THESE REVIEWS - ITS AN AWFUL PLACE!!!

Didn't even make a booking.

We're retired and go on a lot of holidays, but this is the worst website I've ever come across. No information, links don't work and I've now given up trying to make a Booking. It won't accept the information I'm inputting and then I see the reason why. Underneath it says, if you're having trouble booking, ring this number. In small letters underneath it tells you you'll be paying 13p a minute for the priveledge of booking a holiday. No chance Pontins, we'll go elsewhere.

Spent 4 days at sand bay near Weston super mare end of February. On arrival at chalet we where met with a flooded floor in bathroom. Complained to reception they replaced waste pipe under sink. Chalet was so cold because of no heating had to get some blankets from reception. From there it just went down hill . Bathroom was absolutely filthy dirty shower curtain which they replaced with one that was too short for shower which meant when showering water went straight onto floor causing slip hazard. Toilet seat broken . Soap dispenser was absolutely filthy. So much dust in radiator had problems breathing as I am asthmatic.very dissatisfied with Pontins customer service they just didn’t want to know. I will never stay with them again. I wish I could give a minus stars for my stay because that’s all they are worth.

This was my first & last time of…

This was my first & last time of visiting. I was expecting cheap & cheerful, cheerful it wasn’t. To be fair checking in was organised and very welcoming. The chalet was tired but clean which is all I could hope for. The amenities however were poor. The inflatables not inflated, the pool closed, the bikes weren’t fit for purpose, the arcade was smelly with more broken machines than you can care to imagine. The shop was sparse unless you wanted to buy alcohol. The bar area and entertainment are was dirty, tables full of empty chip trays and glasses, I saw one women cleaning, she was fighting a losing battle. The entertainment wasn’t entertaining, even my grandson aged 5 didn’t enjoy it. The worst part was adults drinking, smoking cannabis both day and into early hours of the morning whilst the kids ran wild. There were fights and arguments outside our room early hours on the Friday and the Saturday. Where was the security. We had no out of hours emergency contact number, we had to put up with it. We did see sight of police officers at one chalet but that was in the day time. The screaming and shouting woke my grandson, he was frightened, needless to say we went home a day early, I couldn’t put him through that again. Pontins management need to provide emergency contact numbers, on site security as well as installing CCTV then invest in the overdue repairs. We had eggs throw at the windows, thankfully it wasn’t something much worse. If people want to spend day and night drinking then go on the adults weekend and don’t spoil it for the nice families that want to visit this beautiful location of Ainsdale beach.

Any person that has written a positive…

Any person that has written a positive or justifiable review about this place are probably families who are being investigated by social services or a calabar of vile human that fall asleep with a cigarette in one hand a can of beer in the other while their children drink a full can of coke and eats a bag of processed meat and chips while watching the hills have eyes.
There wasn't any cockroaches or vermin in the chalets BECAUSE THEYD HAD ENOUGH AND MOVED OUT!! But their was bed bugs and Mould so something found it tolerable to breed and stay. I didn't stay there as I refused but my friend did and was bitten to death.
I didn't think anything in this entire country of England existed. I knew there were sh** holes obviously but for an entire resort and tramps to form a congregation and all live the same to me I literally have no words.
The restaurant on site was six massive metal containers of different types of curry's dumped in and left in for hours SELF SERVICE ALL YOU CAN EAT with chips, chicken nuggets and rice. Mixed spoons curry all over the nuggets beans dried up. The entire set up stunk of sick.

The disco area was just an excuse for parents to get drunk while allowing their children to live off fizzy drinks and sweets at 9pm. The live act was poor and embaressing.

Public pool on site - dirty ans stunk

Public toilets - most of them blocked with sick or deharea

Local food expensive - £8 for a small fish and chips

The list goes on DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY GOING

Avoid at all costs!!

Very poor experience here, was shocked to say the least at the state of the accommodation provided. I have stayed in plenty of basic, no frills places before, but the mouldy walls, ripped beds, shoddy furniture, rusty hobs, and freezing shower, were all too much to bear. We left after one night and went to near by Weston-super-Mare for a much better experience! The one thing I have no issues with was the way in which the girl at reception handled my complaint. Very pleasant and understanding, I'm guessing this was not uncommon for guests to request to leave early.

Deathtrap and filthy

Pontins Southport, definitely a minus star review for rooms and staff. Arrived, rooms are unhygienic, sofa beds ripped, electrical sockets hanging off walls and the electrical items were last PAT tested in 2012. Had to move 3 times, offered to pay extra for better rooms, rejected by staff. Complained but "duty manager Tom" was not interested and just gave his name as Tom saying "that is all you need to know". This place needs to be condemned and we have pictures to prove it, avoid at all cost.

Absolutely unacceptable

Absolutely unacceptable!

Not suitable for human habitation!

The grounds are filthy with left over cigarettes, joints, alcohol cans littering the pathways as well as pillows lying in the middle of a very large puddle. Windows and double glazing units are literally black, empty coffee cups on the outer sil.

Whilst collecting keys on arrival serval people returned explaining they could not stay. My family waited in the car and they witnessed people climbing in the windows.

The buildings look like something from Chernobyl. The 'apartment' was just as filthy outside as it were inside. Our apartment came with the bonus of a poo in the toilet, dead flies on the windowsills and a stench that burnt your nostrils. Ashtray galore and not a single fire alarm in sight. Parts of the building were missing outside, exposing infrastructure.

Needless to say, we didn't stay and left very quickly after complaining.

Shame on The Sun for having partnered with Pontins!

Also want to mention the abundance of single men. Not sure why they would pick a children's holiday destination and not sure why Pontins is allowing the bookings either!

A disgrace of a place. It needs to be shut down!

Pontins - Prestatyn Sands

I'll start this review with the staff who i dealt with on reception as they were very friendly and helpful. They obviously have so much experience with dealing upset (there was a good few around me too) and I do genuinely mean very upset guests and for very good reasons! And they are the only reason this place gets a single star.

Like many reviews we've read about the place, we thought i can't be that bad! BUT as soon as you enter the place its like its been left uncared and no money invested into the site since the 60's, 70's -80''s even the buildings are all damaged, cladding missing hanging off the walls windows smashed. Whole blocks fenced off they've obviously been condemned. It's like a council estate i grew up on in the 80's.
The Queen Vic pub onsite looks like something off the TV programme Shameless! The whole place really is in a terrible state of affairs.

We booked up and paid for the upgrade so all in nearly £400 to get upgraded apartment to sleep 4!

We got our upgraded apartment/block and:

1. Walking upto the block and you clearly see the building looks like it's going fall down, concrete beams supporting the landing area's missing large chunks of concrete and its exposed steel reinforcement bars all on show and very rust rotten. The staircase to the upper floor again missing chucks of concrete, I genuinely don't think its a structurally safe building.

2. The surrounding area around the block has large tree branches lying around and bags of whatever lying around, really not safe for children to be playing or running around.

3. On walking up to apartment we could see in through the patio door into the apartment and clearly see the pull out sofa bed had been clearly damage and not safe to sleep on.

4. We got inside and the sofa was filthy, plastic wrappers and bits of whatever on it, My partner pulled the sofa out and we could see what looked like animal droppings on the floor.

5. The apartment was tiny, you literally could just about swing a cat in there, some upgrade! I'd hate to think what the standard chalets look like.

6. We could see some of our fellow guests staring into my car looking to see what they could steal, we'd literally been in the apartment for only 10mins. Reception did offer to move to another part of the upgrade side of the site. However I really didn't feel it would be safe to leave the car onsite anywhere.

7. We had a quick look at the on site restaurant 🤣😂 I've experienced better onsite builders Cafeterias it ain't no restaurant.

8. Whilst taking the keys and linen back to the reception, my partner was sat in the car with my daughter when they were approached by drunken fool kept knocking on the window of the car telling her to open the f###ing window and then the door. Seeing my daughter in tears and clearly upset he's walked off laughing. I reported the incident to the site reception and the girl on reception apologised immediately and told me they would get security onto it straight away, but didn't see anyone trying to do anything about it. You would've thought the manager would have been concerned enough to get off his ar#e and come out of his office to see me, but nothing.

Please don't stay here its not fit for purpose! Will be complaining to the Sun newspaper and obviously Pointon its an embarrassment of a place, more of a war zone than relaxing holiday site for the family.

PRESTATYN PONTINS

So we booked a sun holiday to Prestatyn Pontins and I can’t sing their praises enough!

We had a few issues on the first day door wouldn’t open and then no hot water but very swiftly the man moved us rooms and sorted everything out. No complaints there.

The entertainment staff especially BLUE COAT MAX! What an entertainer, he had my whole family up on stage almost every night we was there, involved everyone, made us all laugh and we won several bottles of wine! (Can’t complain) max made my children feel very welcome and he is such an asset to the staff at Prestatyn! Because of him we are looking to rebook again & it is true only takes one person to make a holiday! Such a polite, friendly person who should be recognised for this!

Good luck max and hopefully see you again soon!

From the crazy party who won all the wine from 28/03/2022-01/04/2022

Booked at pontins via the Sun…

Booked at pontins via the Sun newspaper offer. Did the booking on line and had to pay for 4 places despite only 2 of us going. OK, still a cheap holiday. Then you have to pay in advance for the on site evening meal. Bit expensive but still a cheap break.
So far so good. Until I had an operation rescheduled and I couldn't go. I tried to contact them by phone (at least 10 times), not answered. Tried emailing and texting, no response.
Eventually got through on the phone but the woman was so very far from helpful or able to be understood it was a joke.
After a long frustrating call we got to the stage where she wanted the names of the friends who would now be going with my wife. When I started with Mrs , she stopped me and said because the booking was in my name I.e Mr there would be a £15 charge to change it.
At this point totally lost the plot and very impolitley told her where to stick the holiday.
REGARDLESS OF THE PRICE DON'T GO TO ANY PONTINS SITE.

Brean sands

Absolutely fine for what it is. Expect to take a pack of anti bac wipes and you will be just fine. It's cheap. You wouldn't expect a 5 star experience for a 1 star price. The entertainment was pretty good and it was great value for what we paid.

Only wish I could leave minus stars

Only wish I could leave minus stars, had the misfortune to stay at Brean sands recently and have to say it is the most disgusting place I have ever encountered, I grew up going on caravan and chalet holidays but this is something else, I generally don’t like to complain as you will see from my other reviews, almost all are positive, this place is genuinely awful and not worth the money even when discounted, even my 4 year old said we can’t stay here after walking through the door, and don’t expect an actual bed to sleep on, it’s a crap fold down sofa for the adults, heaven forbid you want to charge any of your devices as sockets are almost non existent, but if you are foolish enough to book here, make sure you complain on site!!! As complaining after doesn’t count!!

I have given 4 stars because I like…

I have given 4 stars because I like going to pontins pakefield with my family. My issue is we booked as a family 3 children and 6 adults for Feb half term. We booked a few months before christmas and was sent a email saying book by 12 oclock to get an amazing deal you wont get a better one we were lead to believe, then the week before we were due to go, an email came through to tell us with two paying adults 1 child goes free. I sent emails to them saying this is unfair as we are paying for our children, as a gesture of goodwill could we please have a credit note for the chidrens amount, as we have been coming to pontins for years. I got an email back saying they would not do anything as per terms and conditions which I understand but I do think this is a bad policy and totally unfair, I will not be rushing to book again.
