Refused to buy Rennies and ridiculed by staff member
I went today into my local, Houghton Regis Poundstretcher to get Orange Rennies for my partner, who is suffering severe nausea due to chemotherapy. As the shop only sells small, 24 tablet packs, I got 6 packs to see him through during the period till his next hospital visit. At the till I was told that I could only buy 2 packs, which is strange as there was no notice on the shelf saying that there is a limit, and I have never had any issues with buying more, larger 72-tablet, packs in other shops. Some young lad serving at another till said it was the law, I replied that was nonsense, as there is no law limiting calcium carbonate antacids. I did some further shopping at another shop and returned to PS to purchase another 2 packs, no problem. When I again returned to the shop to buy 2 more packs, the young lad spotted me and started playing up, ridiculing me in front of other customers and staff, and had one of the other staff members tell me that I was not allowed to buy any more Rennies. I asked if she was serious, said that it was for a cancer patient and that the only alternative for me was to walk 3 miles to another shop in adverse weather, storm Bert. They confirmed that I was not allowed to buy Rennies with them. I put the stuff that I wanted to buy down and left. They will not see me again, to ridicule senior citizens in front of other customers will cost them certainly more clients, word spreads fast of this sort of rude behaviour.
Unfortunately I cannot give a NoStar review
WOULD NOT ACCEPT THEIR OWN VALID VOUCHER
I was given a voucher for £2.50 off a spend of £15 or more. I went into the store and filled my basket with goods to the value of £23+. The cashier scanned my goods and I handed her the voucher. She said, "I can't accept that sorry". When I asked why (as it was within the date on the voucher and I had spent over the £15 minimum)? She informed me the system closes down at 3.30pm on a Sunday and will not accept any vouchers. I told her I had travelled quite a way to use my voucher in the store but she was adamant there was no way the till could accept it. I told her if she wouldn't honour the valid Poundstretcher's own voucher, I would not be buying the goods and left her with a full basket of goods.
I wrote to Customer Service at the main office and I received a reply asking for the receipt!!!!!!! Poor service in store and with HQ who didn't even read my letter properly. They were sent a copy of the voucher.
Rude staff in Hanwell Poundstretcher.
Went into my local Poundstretcher today in Hanwell I haven’t been in there for a few years.
It was sad to say the prices have all increased, product sizes reduced.
It was freezing spoke to a member of staff who in fact was the Manager her response was on it’s not working we have to wait until an engineer comes out to look at it.
I really wanted to leave but was looking for a product I asked another member of staff who when I said this product is out of date on the shelf she started shouting at me! I said why are you shouting at me.
I asked to speak to the manager who I realised was the same person I had spoken to earlier.
No apology from her or the member of staff I told the manager I won’t be shopping in this store again and left buying nothing
Hinckley pound stretcher
Hinckley pound stretcher, partner told staff of a stored container leaking over the floor, staff really rude when they were informed. Won't bother next time. Absolutely no manners and obnoxious staff. Go on the dole if you don't like working.
Health and safety issue
As I'd enter front of entrance sick was everywhere on front entrance I'd straight off went to member of staff who I'd told and he said he'd get someone to clean it, I'd had my eye on him not once did he use or get staff now paying for my stuff only to walk outside still there so went to lady on till I'd said to her the sick is outside and I've told member of your staff only for her to say yes the manager has been told.. I'd then walked off in disgust as you shouldn't need to be told twice ..if a child or anyone was to slip ill be the first to be a witness.

Really polite members of staff and overall a really good experience in the shop. Decent prices too.
Racial Profiling and Customer Service
I recently had a disappointing experience on 25th of October at the store in Chingford. Upon entering, I noticed the security guard immediately began following me closely, creating an uncomfortable shopping environment. As the only customer of colour present, I felt unfairly targeted.
This incident goes against the inclusive atmosphere I expect from a reputable establishment. I hope the management will address this issue with their staff and implement training to prevent such occurrences in the future.
While the store offers a good selection of products, this experience has unfortunately affected my overall impression. I would appreciate a response from management regarding steps they plan to take to ensure all customers feel welcome and respected, regardless of their background.
I'm rating this experience 2 stars, with room for improvement in customer service and inclusivity.
Lots of cheap tat rubbish
Lots of cheap tat rubbish. Really bad low grade junk food galore. Nepotic because they employ members of the same families. Feels like a very sad, low grade budget shop. Very few items are good quality, probably around 2%.
Poundstrechercricklewood branch
Poundstrecher, particularly the cricklewood London branch is the best shop by far ,and my favourite shop the staff are excellent efficient friendly and helpful….Great products and brilliant prices always!! Thank you🙏👍❤️
No good
So expensive how the hell can this be called poundstrecher. Lottery winners only
Be careful of buying fizzy drinks at…
Be careful of buying fizzy drinks at the Gilligham, Medway store because they are flat. I fancied a refreshing bottle of coca cola priced £1.89, got it home, opened it, there was an initial 'fizz' due to the pressure release, poured it in a glass, went to drink it and it was totally flat, no fizziness left what so ever.
I knew I should not have bought it because I know that store put's it's drinks at the front of the store which catches the sun. To be totally flat it must have been in the sunlight for days, even weeks but I just fancied the cola drink. My error for buying a drink I knew had probably been sitting in the sun for weeks and error on Poundstretcher for putting fizzy drinks in the wrong place.

Unless you enjoy being treated like a criminal avoid the Catford branch
There seems to be a policy of blocking customers path after paying at the tills by a very rude man who demanded to look in and have a rifle through my shopping I was carrying
When I asked why he rudely told me to just show him
Out of embarrassment I complied
Maybe he would be better deployed actually walking round the store and checking out who is actually on the rob rather than assuming everyone is a thief
What happened to innocent until proven guilty Poundland
Poundstretcher experience not up to standard.
The store in Bristol City centre never has staff on the checkouts and “leave you to it “, on difficult to use self checkouts. The machines blasting out awful Christmas beeping sounds is an earache a year ago. Christmas shopping for simple items to forget..
Worst experience in Tunbridge wells store
I went to do some shopping in the Tunbridge wells shop and I bought a packet of sweets and when I got home I realised they were open and it wasn’t the first time it happened, the staff are miserable and rude and you don’t ever see the manager in shop floor.
Needs Health and safety check
Oh the store manager Terry and key holder kelsey sacks individuals who have autism. Before their probation period is over . Manage of colchester poundstrecher (store management ) Terry informed the ex employee that he had individual workers watching the ex employee while she worked , they hired another individual then ended the ex employee probation, now it has lower sales less customers I wounder why who wants to go in a shop (warehouse) where you smell alcohol and cigarettes. I am happy to shop at other stores that has more class
I wouldn't recommend this job . He implied retails was not for a autistic individual , out of date products .... staff smells of cigarettes 🚬 and alcohol.

It wouldn't let me me give zero for service I was in the Workington sore today at 15.29 on the 4th August 2024 I was in for a couple of things and when going round the shop I noticed 2 baskets with extension sockets and 2 usb ports with in priced at 7.49 took one to the till and it was wrongly priced I've been in there before and quite a lot of things are wrongly priced any way I said I'm sorry and the young lady who was serving me said she'd going get some one who could lower the price for me because they were always doing that the manager came out disappeared for a bit and just swapped it with another and said that's the one i said eh no I've worked in a shop before and if it's price marked at that price he was a scruffy looking guy with shorts on and wouldn't give me his name gave me a load of cheek as well as showing me up as a customer who goes in quiet at t he was rude and stood there with his hands crossed like I'd done something wrong im making this an official complaint and would like a response
To me its the best place to shop in Crawley.
I walked in to the Poundstretcher Crawley store today. I usually go to Poundstretcher at Crawley
• Good prices.
• I feel at home because of the treatment I get from the lovely colleagues there.
Today I went to pay and I was pleasantly surprised, they told me I won a 10-pound voucher.
1. I knew nothing about it. I would have gladly paid for the goods and left. They stood by their principles and said that I was the rightful winner.
2. I am from the subcontinent. There was no racial discrimination or bias.
TO ME IT WAS NOT A 10 POUND VOUCHER. IT WAS OVERWHELMING, UNBIASED LOVE THAT WAS DISHED OUT TODAY. KUDOS TO POUNDSTRECHER CRAWLEY STAFF.
Keep up the good work, and you will be the light to many who are burdened with the obligations of life. “Special shoutout to my dear security friend”.

Visited Bexhill Road store in St Leonards on Friday 7th June. Great experience, especially from Andy who was so helpful and went above and beyond to ensure that I got what I wanted.
Worksop poundstretcher
The stock and prices in the shop are OK. However; because I walked into the shop wearing a tracksuit, one of the staff promptly started following me around the shop. She made it very obvious that she was watching me. When I spent a couple of minutes in one place trying to decide on what to buy, she just stopped, got in my way, and watched me decide what to buy. She only left me the moment I placed the products at the till. I was very disappointed to be treated as a potential shoplifter and won't be returning which is a shame as I have always had a positive experience in this shop. I don't know why she didn't watch me on the cameras which are at the till if she thought I looked like a shoplifter, however she made it very obvious which ruined my shopping experience and I didn't feel comfortable enough to continue shopping.
