Underwhelming experience

I attended the Carmarthen branch recently. I was actually surprised to find it open as from the outside it looks derelict and abandoned. The sign is faded and falling part, there is clearly no pride or maintenance taken in the appearance. There were no cars in car park which would at first glance make you assume the shop is abandoned and upon entering the store there were no customers. I had a browse however I struggled to spend any money. There was plenty of stock on the shelves, just nothing you can't find elsewhere for the same price. I found that every space was filled but with bulky items and there was a lack of variety with the products like you find in other similar stores. I found the whole experience underwhelming, there just seemed to be a lack of identity, offers or enticement. The staff were friendly enough.

Whats happened to this store it used to…

Whats happened to this store it used to be decent and inexpensive, Went in for a look around as not been in for ages, couldn't believe the audacity of some of there prices they are charging for instance them little pots of instant mash potato, are literally 45-55p in BNM, Herons, home bargains etc There £1 here, there pot noodles £1.25 lol there not even that in Tesco or Asda etc, and some of the prices of Plastic plant pots are ridiculous, £8 for a yellow basic 5ltr plastic plant pot (reduced from £12) lol not a chance have they sold that for 12.00 it's not even worth £2, they sell that Easy range wash powder & wash liquid etc, they charge £1.60 for easy washing up liquid lol and £3.99 for 18 Easy liquid tabs! 89p for a can of lucozade, Hills coconut rings the half pack size that are 39p in BNM and Homebargins, 80p In there, even the cheap branded sauces was £1.80... how do they think they can charge these ridiculous prices they are charging more for cheap brands then Asda, Tesco's etc do for there brand products! Some of the thing they have the nerve to charge are hilarious, the stores drabby & dated like 3 staff working, the stores empty, a few people have said they don't go in to the one local to us Because it's got ridiculous With its high prices.
Also alot of items are Out of date, they need investigating, the fact they have so much stuff out of date shows how poorly they are selling there food items and people ain't willing to pay them absurd prices.

Sorry but how have these not gone into liquidation? they have these big shops that are Always dead, think the ones in marketing need there heads checking, absolutely no one's paying these prices in there, I won't go back in again

The cheek of it, seriously everything they stock you can get everything and I mean everything on there shelves for half the cost in BNM & home bargains!

Disgusted at the state the local store…

Disgusted at the state the local store is in. Also was wondering why there was no one in there. But bought some pop. It was not mentioned at all in store and only found out when we got back that it was 5 months out of date. It was undrinkable. Had to throw it out as not worth the time of walking a mile there and back to get a refund. Will never use again. Appalling store!

Disgusting service!!

Saw a card of four Easter Chicks on display without a price. I took them to the till and asked the price. Neither the so called manager or the assistant knew or even cared. The response was; "No price, so not selling" and then walked away.
I later purchased some elsewhere.
Do Poundstretcher employ morons on purpose??

Gravesend Imperial Park is nice and…

Gravesend Imperial Park is nice and clean but that's about it, POS is often wrong or left on shelves which confuses customers because half the time you don't know what your paying for, staff are surly and have a "can't be asked" attitude, checkout is never manned, they must be losing stuff hand over fist including customers.

Ignore price tickets

I stupidly forgot to ask the price beforehand at the till because most of the price tickets are incorrect. Also the reductions they claim are not completely accurate....which I thought was illegal.

Crazy expensive prices

Crazy expensive prices . Just go to Asda . Trugs 7.50 Asda a fiver. Sponges 3 for 5.50 Asda 3 for 1.25 absolutely ridiculous and just because you use the strapline "bargain" it doesn't fool people . Change your pricing policy and make less profit or you'll end up like woolworths

I've had a bad experience at the harrow poundstretcher

I've had a bad experience at one of your stores today involving my partner. my partner was walking around the store while being followed by the Head Manager called Bevin the Store Manager at your harrow branch she was looking to purchase something for herself in the makeup section but she didn't find anything that she like at that present time. She also felt a bit threatened because Mr Bevin the store manager was following her so she just left the store. He shouted and at and made her feel embarrassed because the was other people in the shop. Mr Bevin the store manager told her to stop and wait because he thought she stole some makeup when my partner said she didn't he presently told her yes she did causin a seen and embarrassed my partner. She came home upset about the whole situation and how she had been embarrassed that it happened Mr Bevin didn't even apologise to her all he said was get out of my shop. So today Wednesday 27th December I went in with my partner to ask him to apologise to her he started to be rude to my partner and myself when we was explaining to him what happened I wanted to know his name so I could put in a complaint because I found it poor and not professionally especially for a store manager to behave. I ask him multiple times for his name but he didn't want to give it to me he then "TOOK a PICTURE" of me and said I was banned for no reason. so I then tried to take a picture of his name tag so I can make a complaint while I was trying to take a picture of the name tag he tried to push my phone out my hand so I couldn't take it then kept say to get out of my shop once he knew I was going to go till I got his name tag he called the police to come. I've even tried to get I contact with there customers complaint and till this day the haven't got back to me its been a month. If you can don't ever go to the poundstretcher in harrow don't recommend it at all

A shoplifters paradise

A shoplifters paradise. Tills not staffed, the few staff who were on the premises were making desultory efforts to fill shelves. The person who served me was surly and unhelpful. Home Bargains (next door) vastly superior.

Been a Customer of PoundstretcherDerby…

Been a customer of Poundstretcher Derby for many years. It closed down a while ago by Matalan and now reopened opposite Card Factory Albion Street Derby. Prices are extortionate totally agree with ALL THE Reviews that have commented on the store in DERBY. Purchased Spectacle lens cleaner x 3 boxes as nowhere else had them left. They had a NEW brand different from the Health point ones they had at 90p in a basket in the front of the store. Used one yesterday 29th December and the very thin moist tissue LEAVES HEAVY paper like fur residue particles on your Spectacles. If the residue gets into your eye it would be a different story. Too them back today x3 boxes and the Manager who quoted (He had been there 12 years would only exchange spec cleaner which are not fit for purpose as box states dies not leave any residue. He would not accept PROOF OF PURCHASE as wasn't a paper receipt and on my phone.I was only offered an exchange at the lower price (typical) Really. He did NOT work at the store by Home Bargains by Matalan and he is about 7 ft tall and Ginger How can you miss him. I shopped £S for many years when they were cheap and have never seen him only in this store Albion street filling up shelves. As a FYI be sure what you want KEEP YOUR PAPER RECEIPT! There was a programme about the store the business and the two Asian brothers familly(Father is for sure the head honcho) who own the business. The stock is overstock that is purchased from various stores in BULK that cannot be sold in other stores and they buy product cheap and sell at an INFLATED PRICE some food products NOT ALL are often passed their sell buy (sic) They openly admitted this in their business model practice on the TV programme for ALL to hear. The staff don't know what stock they are going to get in the delivery. It's delivered they make it fit. They have stockrooms full to the rafters of overstock at their HQ they MUST Sell as some areas of the country sell certain product at a different rate. Product is moved around from store to store to sell accordingly.
There ARE cheap prices to be had, have to go in at the right time.
The father had a very tight reign on the business THEN and perhaps still has. Buyer beware as I for sure LIKE MANY OF YOUR HONEST Reviewers I will never shop there again.
There refund policy is very poor and to make it worse the Manager (For 12 years) (sic) said they did not sell the Health point Spectacle and Lens cleaner in the Red, White and Blue box of which I have purchased from them many times over the months. AVOID, AVOID AVOID the NEW BLUE BOX spectacle lens cleaner due to the tissue residue as he clearly does not know his product! He should as that's all he does fill up and chat on his phone. They used to be OK as a brand and have gotten so GREEDY. They will end up like Wilko AGAIN if they are not careful! and close.
In fact avoid the store completely as cheaper products can be found in your local other outlets. One Below, Body Care, Home Bargains other brands are available!
Sorry review so long, but it's got to be said!
Yall hope this review helps 👍🏽

Popped in today to get some bits

Popped in today to get some bits, couldn't believe the prices of a lot of items. Doubled compared with other shops.
Went into another shop and brought items, cost me half the price that I would have had pay in there
Won't be returning

Unclean

We were in the connswater branch last week, Store has a weird stale smell to it, kept finding food products out of date. Christmas aisle is a load of junk that you wouldn’t hang, no staff to be found while walking around the shop unless you walked to the till. Stop has been decorated from Christmas, a strange arch that looks like it is going to fall on someone as it is completely bent out of shape and gives a very unpleasant and careless aspect to the store.
