Saw a screw in my tyre, and went straight round to ProTyre at Stockton for them to investigate. They confirmed that the screw had pierced the tyre, and repaired the whole all within 25 mins. Great... See more

Cant be Bothered Because computer says NO!

Protyre Tyre Exchange, Preston Farm, Stockton on Tees. This is not the first time I have had a bad experience with these guys, but I thought I'd give benefit of the doubt. I took my 2010 Kia Ceed in for 4 wheel tracking check and correction. This was following a complete over haul of front and rear suspension. The guy on the desk didn't seem enthusiastic on taking on the full job, quoting that it'll will only really need the fronts doing. Once the car was up on the ramps he came back and told be the rear doesn't need doing because it's a 'Solid Rear Axil'. I told him that when I last looked it was Multi Link rear suspension and has adjustable bolts. As it was me that rebuilt it. Anyway, this job was done to satisfactory standard with the bonus being the steering wheel was even set right. Ie Central when driving in a straight line.

However, Todays experience put them back in my bad books. When My Kia was in I spoke to the assistant or acting floor manager with regards to having the front tracking done on my 1985 Lotus Turbo esprit. I explained to him the problem I was having and he said just to bring it in and they would sort it. Even suggested better days of this week so time could be given to sort the problem. I went ahead and booked in for 11am on 22 May via web page. As my tracking is so far out the car in question wasn't the easiest to drive there, with tyres squealing most of the way. It was a very slow 5 mile trip. I arrived at 1035 and wasn't on the ramps until nearer 1125. Bare in mind the Tracking ramps were free on my arrival. The young guy who came out seemed enthusiastic and keen to do the job. However, once they realised that my car wasn't in their computer system, with the earliest model being 1994, they said they couldn't do the job. I high lighted that its basically the same chassis and suspension set up, I even gave them the settings to go by and offered to sign a waver to accept what was done, just so I can get home without fear of further damaging my tyres. It was one of the ,more senior techs that refused to do the job despite me at one point begging them to at least get it close. All I got was its not aloud in accordance with there policy, rubbish and didn't want to take on the responsibility if they got it wrong. despite what I'd told them about a waver and that I'd be getting it re-done at earliest opportunity. It felt more like it was far to difficult a job for them, so we can't be bothered to take it on. please note my earlier experience. To anyone reading this who's not mechanical minded, tracking is not a difficult job to do, esp with the modern equipment available today. It wasn't that long ago that places had to use a Mat that was driven over in order to see what adjustment was needed. Job should take about 20 min unless the any of the 2 bolts are seized. Yes, just 2 bolts to loosen in order to make the required adjustment. A good mechanic in my opinion should be able to think outside of the box in order to solve a problem. There clearly was no sign of that happening today. Unfortunately, I was told, the assistant floor manager had stepped out so couldn't take this any further. Seemed convenient. So thanks to bad advice, a negative attitude from some of the staff, I waisted over 2 hours of my time and probably tore quite a few hundred miles off my tyres.

Funny thing here is they recommended another garage near by who could perhaps help. They couldn't, but weren't surprized by my experience with them emphasising just how bad the place has become. I certainly wont be using these guys again and certainly do not recommend them to anyone.

Unprofessional Service

Insensitive, unprofessional and deeply upsetting experience

I booked an MOT online and later added a service. I attended at 8:30am on Saturday 25th October.

It has taken me some time to process what happened and be able to write this.

When I arrived, the waiting room was busy. At the time, I had just spent two days in hospital with my mother, who had been placed on end-of-life care. Despite everything, I still attended my appointment.

When I approached the desk, the man who served me told me I did not have an MOT booking at 8:30am and said that slot was already taken. He then told me I must be at the wrong garage. I explained that I wasn’t — I always use this garage — but he laughed at me and insisted it was elsewhere. He didn’t ask for my name or registration to check.

Shaken, I returned to my car, checked my confirmation email, and called the number. The same man answered. He laughed again and repeated that I was at the wrong place and I had just spoken to him in person.

I went back inside, extremely upset, and again he said there was no booking. When I showed him the confirmation, he then said, “You have an MOT and a service — you never said.” I explained that he hadn’t asked.

At that point, I told him that my mother was on end of life care and that I needed to get to the hospital.

By the time this back-and-forth had finished, it was 8:50am. I was exhausted, emotional and in tears. I left my car and walked home because I was too upset to contact my children — I didn’t want them to see me like that.

When I got home my son took me to the hospital, but heartbreakingly, my mam had passed away just five minutes before I arrived.

I was laughed at, dismissed, and made to feel small at one of the worst times of my life.

I will never use this service again. I am disgusted and deeply traumatised by the entire experience.

Highly Recommended

Very easy to book appointment on line. The price of my tyres was very competitive and the fitting was carried out quickly and efficiently. All in all it was an easy and stressless process.

Great job but slow to complete the work

Can’t fault the job, the only disappointing thing was that this was booked online and an appointment time was selected (9.30am). Arrived well before the time but it took just under hour from the arranged time for them to even move the car into the garage and begin the work. Kinda made arranging a time slot a pointless exercise (in all two hours from arranged slot to change 2 tyres and check tracking).

My car went in for an mot, I received a warm welcome.
Every thing was explained to me, I went for a walk for an hour.
I had a phone call to say my car was ready to pick up.
All paper work done, and my car ready to pick up
