Humiliating visit for elderly, disabled customer
Visited here a number of times and have enjoyed the visit. However, on this occasion my elderly, disabled mother had the most humiliating experience!
I took her to use the disabled bathroom, put her inside and checked the door lock had turned red on the outside of the door, showing it was occupied. Then, as the corridor is very narrow, I moved her walker out of the corridor as it was blocking access.
As I was waiting, 2 women and three children entered the corridor. At the last moment, I noticed they were actually opening the door of the disabled bathroom my mother was in! I yelled at them that someone was in there but she proceeded to have a good look at my humiliated mother as she sat in the toilet! Then she shrugged her shoulders and all 5 went to the main bathrooms!
The centre badly needs to check that these doors cannot be opened from the outside by others, once they show they are in use in order to respect the dignity of those who need to use the ! We had to cut our visit short as my mother was absolutely humiliated and upset and the day was ruined for an elderly lady who is rarely able to get out of the house!
Very unhelpful
I checked the menu on line before visiting but found it to be completely different when I got there. No vegan options and the staff were not willing to make even the slightest minor changes to items to accommodate me. They just shrugged off the fact that their website displays an old menu. So I left and so did my nonvegan friends. Terrible customer service.
Amazing service
Amazing service. Always shop local in my opinion. Thank you for assisting our garden furniture query. Replacement within 2 hours. Particularly thanks to Ben for his patience!
Bought some compost yesterday
Bought some compost yesterday, in Wenvoe Garden Centre. Really poor quality! It was dry as a bone.
Must be really old stock but sold at full price.
Sally and Mike in Pughs Morganstown…
Sally and Mike in Pughs Morganstown were super helpful when I was buying some garden furniture helping me get it to my car.
They were polite pleasant.....so nice to get good customer service these days!
Brilliant experience
I just wanted to post a review here and just say how amazing the Animal experience at wenvoe garden centre was today for my little girl who has autism and not fully verbal.
The lady’s who ran the experience was fantastic with her and made her experience amazing. They were so lovely and so accommodating towards her.
Will definitely be rebooking!
Thank you!
Great staff to help us shop here…
We had assistance from one of Pugh's Staff named Scott, he was incredibly helpful and very knowledgeable. He really helped our shopping experience today. A true professional.
Great service thank you Scott.
Angel our waitress was amazing ❤️
Does not fulfil orders and misleads customers
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing and I feel it’s important to share it so others can make informed decisions.
In summary: Customers are not informed that warehouse stock and display models were being sold as part of the same promotion, inaccurate stock control, lack of proactive communication, and provided misleading information when I contacted them to resolve the issue.
I ordered the Eden Square Casual Dining Set through their website while it was on sale. Payment was taken immediately and I received confirmation that it would be dispatched within 7–10 working days. However, after two weeks with no updates, I had to contact the store myself, only to be told that the item had sold out due to an issue between their ordering systems.
I was told that they had five in stock, all of which were sold in-store, and that I must have placed my order just after the final one was purchased. This explanation did not make sense, as I placed my order several hours after the store had already closed. Regardless, no one contacted me to inform me of any problem.
I was also informed that both warehouse stock and display models were being sold as part of the same promotion. As a customer, I would have expected this to be clearly communicated in advance so that
buyers could make a fully informed decision about what they were purchasing.
When I explained that I felt I was financially disadvantaged because I would now have to pay more to purchase the same model elsewhere, I was told that the item was not available anywhere else in the UK. This left me feeling that my concern was being dismissed and that the information I was being given was misleading, as I was later able to locate and order the exact same item from another garden centre, who contacted me within 24 hours to confirm availability and arrange delivery.
The staff member I spoke to was polite and processed a refund, but the overall experience was frustrating. Accepting payment for an item that cannot be supplied, and failing to communicate this promptly, falls well short of what I would expect. I hope improvements are made to stock control and customer communication to prevent this happening to others.
Customers services- changing prices
As a regular consumer at Pughs , and local to the garden centre, I called in to purchased a bird table for my granddaughter. Picked up the Robin bird table ( there's was about 5 on the shop floor) marked up for £79.99, seen them over the weekend and decided to buy one.. A member of staff was there( an employee, (man with grey hair). He disappeared into a side store room. I selected the table i wanted ( robin) and whilst walking to the till he appeared, I enquired about the offer or free bird seed ( as per the label). He went to say that he saw me looking at the tables, and he should have changed the prices and informed the table had gone up to £99??? I put the table back , and then noticed he was removing the lables. Clearly only changing the prices after seeing me pick up a table.
I genuinely think this poor customer service on every sense. This was also in front of another customer, who was waiting for advice, no apologies, quite rude.
Check your prices and don't be so blatantly rude.
Underwhelming Santa Experience.
Visited the garden centre at Wenvoe with grandchildren for the Santa grotto experience. This was visually stunning but experience-wise slightly underwhelming. Unenthusiastic elves together with a confusing, vaguely explained process involving magic beans was lost on the kids. Then our 4 year old received an 8+ present quiz game from Santa which he can do nothing with. Not good.
We bought a Christmas tree today
We bought a Christmas tree today at Pugh's Garden Village, the staff were excellent, very helpful and efficient, fantastic service, thank you.
Poor food quality
Lunch In the small cafe was too expensive and the food wasn't good, the toasted sandwiches are not in fact toasted! Terrible won't go there again. The other food venue on site is far better.
Lovely food
Lovely food. Well presented. Relaxing atmosphere a chilled out place to eat for family and friends.
John changed our opinion
We first came to Pugh’s around 2 months ago after buying our first fish tank with only little knowledge. We had found a staff member to seek advise. This staff member was very rude and blunt and did not want to help at all. We had stopped going to Pughs because of this but had to go today for the plants we wanted. We had amazing help of a staff memeber called John he was beyond amazing and I can not appreciate him enough he has completely changed my opinion on this shop and I will be visiting again. Thank you so much John for your help.
Fantastic displays, too few staff
Fantastic displays, amazing variety of everything one needs for gardening. Its a 'day out' experience. However, staffing levels are atrocious. The staff were so helpful but it was quite obvious staffing levels has been axed which really spoils the customer experience. 30 mins in the cafe waiting for a coffee, several people left the queue. Only one person trying her best cope. Queues at checkout, winding through the Isles, only 2 tills operational!! The carpark was full, hundreds of customers, a handful of staff. Very disappointed in management/owners. Maybe they need to do some observation of what's going on and support their staff and customers to improve things.
Afternoon Tea
Booked Afternoon Tea as a birthday present for a friend and we weren't disappointed. Lovely setting in the conservatory and the food was delicious. No sandwiches but delicious savouries. Scotch egg, sausage roll, bao bun with pulled pork and chilli jam, and houlumi and avocado roll. We had a lovely selection of cakes as well as scones with jam and clotted cream. The service was excellent and the staff were very welcoming. Will definitely recommend to others and hopefully will pay another visit.
Afternoon tea at The Watering Can
Just got back from a lovely afternoon at The Watering Can Coffee Shop at Pugh’s in Radyr. My friend and I booked an afternoon tea and it was delicious. It wasn’t the traditional afternoon tea with finger sandwiches but included sausage rolls, pulled pork boa bun and halloumi and avocado roll. The cakes were delicious and very light. The staff were really friendly and attentive and the conservatory was a lovely setting. Would really recommend the afternoon tea and will definitely book again
Good Quality Good Service & Reasonably Priced.
Called in to the Village while in the Wenvoe area. Great range of reasonably priced products within an open plan interior with clean and fresh toilet facilities.
The pots and plants were of a high standard and again reasonably priced. The Orange Tree Restaurant was exceptional with welcoming and attentive staff in a wide dining room, which opened to the rear garden. The menu was wide and the food delicious. We will definitely return when again in the area.
Debra done good
Debra done good, nice to see that a suggestion about signage in the dog seating area was considered and changed
