Appalling members of staff

I went here for my lunch with a Co worker and we were both disgusted in the way staff were treating other staff, laughing and joking about them, surely this should be sorted out this was something we did not like to witness.
The young Lady who served us was very polite and myself and my Co worker knew that this young lady did not know the other staff members were being extremely rude about her. Whoever is the manager here needs to sort there staff out.

I would have given four stars

I would have given four stars, but ordered a hot chocolate in the cafe which when received the container was only just over half full. I politely asked for the cup to be completed which was met with a frown. It was filled, but with just froth. At well over £3.00 I was disappointed with the service.

At 2.40pm visited Pugh's Wenvoe where…

At 2.40pm visited Pugh's Wenvoe where as usual I bought some plants. My wife and I decided before leaving that we would try the restaurant for a coffee, which we have never visited before. We walked in and saw some comfy chairs near the entrance, and although there were some glasses still on the table we were going to tidy it up. A young rude girl then approached us and said in a sharp tone can I help. we explained that we were going to sit at that table and have a coffee. She sharply said "You should wait at the entrance to be seated and that table requires cleaning, so could please sit there" and pointed to a less attractive seating area. I said " We like this table and comfy seats and would sit here" She instructed that we sit at the seats that she had stated. I said "We won't bother having been ordered to stand here and sit there and we walked out. The pleasant lady on the till where we paid for the flowers we bought was mortified at what we told her. We are 68 and 73 years of age and felt that the young girl had a dreadful attitude.

A pleasure to visit with outstanding customer service

On my visit today I was really impressed with all the friendly and really helpful staff, in particular Keeley who helped me choose a special rose and compost and then assisted with taking both to my car. One of the cashiers (sorry I don’t know her name) was giving doggie treats out as people with dogs were leaving. The restaurant had great food and coffee, all in all a really productive and pleasant couple of hours at a very special place with outstanding staff. Thank you very much

Greedy rip off merchants

Hi can you explain why you think it’s acceptable to charge £2.50 for a can of Fanta. It’s disgraceful that you can lower yourselves to blatant greed. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Oh I didn’t buy the cans and put all that I wanted to purchase down and walked out. Shame on you.

Terrible cafe full of flies & over priced

Lovely garden centre with great displays. But today paid £30 for 2 cold toasties, a luc warm coffee which took 40 minutes to arrive. With the cafe swarming with flies, very stressful chaotic experience with below average food. When complained to the server, was told she was from the “shrubs” section so doesn’t really know what to do. Didn’t even want to purchase any of the lovely decoration after the terrible cafe experience. Especially the disgusting swarms of flies sitting on waiting food. Never again!

Fantastic Garden Centre ... one of the best

Called in to buy some Barry Island spirits as this was our nearest stockist. Pleasantly surprised to find the centre holding a superb stock of Welsh produce inlcluding beers, ciders & spirits, a butchery area and other sweet and savoury goods too.
Was hoping to have a wander around the actual garden centre but alas, the weather [heavy rain] had other ideas.
Had to settle for a cuppa, a hot chocolate and two superb scones 😉
Chatted to a very helpful manager and many happy staff ... what's not to like.

Daylight robbery

The food was quite nice but don’t bother unless you are quite wealthy. Since last year everything has more than doubled, cheeseburger £14.00, baguette £9.00, sourdough sandwich £9.00. Felt like I’d been mugged. 2 coffees & 2 toasted tea cakes £12.00 and waited nearly 1/2 an hour.

Dreadful experience in the restaurant

Dreadful experience in the restaurant. Total of an hour 5 mins from arriving to get lying our (decidedly average) food. When I politely enquired about how much longer the food would be - you could hardly call it a complaint - the waiter smugly pointed out that we hadn’t been waiting as long as we said (we had, if you include the initial wait) and then continued to argue the toss rather than show an iota of service mentality. Don’t go here. And if you do, steer clear of the guy with the pony tail.

Wonderful well stocked garden centre

Wonderful well stocked garden centre. I bought a range of excellent shrubs from them but one for some reason didn't grow. No problem though, when I spoke to Tracy at Pughs she arranged a full refund. Excellent customer service and thanks to Tracy and manager James for their help

Excellent Customer Service

We went to buy additional garden lights. Initially they were out of stock, but Lyn on customer services phoned all the other stores to check stock, when they couldn’t find them took our details to ask someone else to find them. Team continued to try and find them, we were leaving when she had found some. Excellent customer service- Lyn went above and beyond.

Impossible to park

Impossible to park, there are too many business’ at this location and often it’s extremely difficult, if not impossible to park. There are only a few disabled bays and they have decided to block one by placing a shed over it!!

Rude Lady at the checkout!

I have been visiting this Garden Centre for over 40 years and never experienced such a rude lady on the checkout. One staff member( who was very helpful) told us to fill our pot with broken pots not to use so much compost and because the barcode was hidden she was not very happy!
Surely it was not that difficult to key in the price as that was clearly visual. I apologised and asked should I take the pieces out and she did not even respond!
People like this make you feel you don’t want to visit there again and she should be given customer service skills which was clearly lacking with her on this occasion.
Such a shame as I love this garden centre.

Thank you Alan

We recently purchased an Aruba 2 reclining chairs and side table set online from Pughs (we had previously ordered the Aruba corner seat and 2 bench dining set and were very happy with it) Both sets were delivered on the stated date and the delivery men were friendly and helpful. However on unpacking the recliner set we found that one of the chairs was damaged. I contacted Pughs and spoke to Alan who asked me to send him photos of the damaged chair, which I did. After hearing nothing 1 week later I contacted Alan who said Lifestyle ( the manufacturers of Aruba furniture) were dragging their feet with a resolution to my problem! I told Alan I was not happy with this and he arranged for me to collect a replacement chair from their stock in Radyr.
Thank you Alan for sorting this problem out for me and shame on you Lifestyle for not sorting this out straight away!

Customer service at Pughs Radyr

I purchased garden furniture at Pughs Radyr. I am not reviewing the product (not delivered yet) but I want to praise the staff. Alan in particular. Customer service exemplary - Alan, his manager and a lady called Lyn(?) couldn’t have been more informative, helpful and friendly. Alan went above and beyond by taking the trouble to phone me, twice when I missed his first call, to tell me something I hadn’t even thought of asking! Exceedingly helpful.

Disappointing Sunday Lunch @ Garden Centre at Wenvoe…

I visited the Garden Centre at Wenvoe today for Sunday lunch. Although the lunch was very tasty and cost £15.95 for 1 course it wasn’t enough to satisfy my small appetite. The meat was just about sufficient for a small appetite there was 2 potatoes a spoonful of cabbage and a small amount of gravy. The vegetables then came for 2 people which consisted of 2 slices of carrot 1 tablespoon of red cabbage 3 parsnips 3 very small pieces of broccoli and a tablespoon of purées swede. I asked for more veg and was told I had to pay extra for it so £32 for 2 cooked dinners and then another £3 for another even smaller portion of veg. I spoke to a member of staff who just said thanks for the comments ?? Needless to say I have come home hungry and will have to cook something later to eat. I would not recommend Sunday lunch there if you have even a normal appetite as the quantity is appalling

Food Hall. Dodgy Pies

I bought two chicken madras pies at the food hall. On cooking both pies, one smelt really bad unlike anything I’ve ever smelt before. I am convinced there was feaces in this pie. I returned them both to the garden village the following day. The pie smelt that bad the female cashier had to bring them outside to inspect. To which she agreed it wasn’t right. I contacted the manager at the food hall who has now said out of thousands of pies that come from their suppliers mine was the only bad one, so basically taking back what the cashier had inspected them said and refuting what I was saying. Beware these pies are not cheap and obviously not the best quality. Customer service is amazing on purchase Shane it wasn’t the same when returning a faulty item. There is a natural presumption that all pies are home made, this IS NOT the case. They are supplied by a chain.
