The advice from the website in planning the location of the Hanging rack as well as actual installation was brilliant. Plus you know exactly what you are getting. Great quality and excellent follow-up service afterwards.

Inherited parts of an airer and so needed some pulleys to hang - bought 2 doubles and a single in black - all arrived as expected - so far so good.
As is the way, it's taken a couple of months to get to the job so only just had a proper look at pulleys.

For a company that only sells clothes airers you'd think the product would be at least acceptable, preferably good quality.

The pulley wheel is brittle grey plastic with mould flash all round the rim.
The hole in the centre of the pulley isn't so the pulley runs eccentric
The hole is much bigger than the axle so pulley wobbles
There is no bushing in the pulley so don't expect cheap plastic to last long before hole wears even wider.

The main body casting is about 10 degrees out of flat where it meets the mounting surface so the shoulder of the pulley will not seat against ceiling/wall.

The screw dowel has a thread (of sorts) that is less than 0.5mm from root to tip with rounded roots and crests so it does not even come close to biting into the wood it is screwed into (would expect at least 1mm with sharp crests) If the thread meets even the slightest resistance in the wood then the metal smears into a straight shank ie the 'thread' strips.

The metal of the thread is so soft that it bends as you attempt to screw it into the mounting.

These pulleys are not safe to use and should not be on sale - have just dropped mine at local trading standards with a complaint

An excellent product. I'd recommend it anyone. Taken all the laundry off the normal clothes airer and created lots of space as a result!

Bought a new set of wooden laths for my old airer - they are well made with a lovely smooth finish. Quick delivery too.

I ordered a Pulleymaid clothes airer on 22 Feb 2024. The website says that delivery is normally made within 3-5 working days. As it hadn't arrived after 8 working days, I e-mailed to ask what was happening. The company doesn't have a phone number on their website, so e-mail is the only method of communication.

I was asked to confirm that the delivery address was correct (it was). Nothing. Further chasing from me resulted in a request to wait a few more days for delivery. Still nothing. Instead I received another e-mail last night asking me to again confirm the delivery address - so I'm getting nowhere, and have still not received my product. e-mails have arrived at very odd times (5am and 11pm) - does Pulleymaid administer its sales from the other side of the world? Why doesn't it have a phone number?

Things sometimes go wrong in business. Its how companies put things right that matters. Pulleymaid have completely failed to put the non-delivery of my item right.

UPDATE: Pleased to say that making my views known on Trust Pilot has resulted in some action from Pulleymaid. I was at last contacted by the delivery company. However, the delivery postcode was Pulleymaid's. not mine. On querying this I received the following response (bear in mind that my e-mails were always polite, although increasingly desperate):

I am very sorry to tell you that your order has been cancelled. We have asked DX to return the delivery to ourselves at SY3 and you are now receiving tracking updates for the return. I have also arranged for your payment to be refunded to your card.

It is with regreat that we have taken this action however given the nature of your emails, and your review on trust pilot, we feel that we no longer wish to continue with this transaction.

We wish you all the best in sourcing an alternative elsewhere.

Item has arrived and installed. All good. Entertaining customer service emails. (Update on my previous review- email received today confirming the item was dispatched last Wednesday so hoping for arrival soon. Will update on the product once it has arrived)

We purchased our Pulleymaid clothes airer last November and have been very pleased with how easy to use and effective it is at drying clothes in the house over the winter months. However, I recently wrote to Pulleymaid to ask for advice about the airer as the cord was starting to show signs of wear and tear and we'd only had it a few months. I got a very prompt reply with good advice about what we had done wrong in the installation process and they also sent us a new cord.
I was impressed with the speed of the response and the good service. Now that we know what the fault was (the pulley was at an angle instead of straight, so the cord was rubbing against the pulley) I believe the cord should stay in good condition for a long time.

Unfortunately the experience has been awful and completely disorganised.

I was given a specific day they would sent the item to me but no-one contacted me about a time, no-one rang the door bell and the item was outside in the rain. The item they sent was actually broken, then when i wanted to return it they said they would pick it up today. But as expected no-one has turned up and no one from the company has answered any emails or even given an apology.

They do not have a phone number to find out any information or help.

I wold avoid at all costs as its just terrible service.

I have received my airer in Northern Ireland. It came within the stated date. It looks exactly as I anticipated. I will have it put up in the summer when I return to NI. I had trouble getting a handy man in the short time I was there. So, in conclusion, I am very pleased with the product.

Very quick delivery and product good quality and as expected. Easy to construct. Highly recommend.

Takes a while to get your head around the installation instructions but once you can it is a good quality addition to the home

The laths went mouldy after a few months. I asked the company for help and they advised washing and sanding, which I tried but to no avail. After some to and fro (they didn’t believe I’d washed or sanded) they did offer eventually to take them away to clean (it would take a few weeks) but were really quite rude, denying any responsibility and implying it was my fault. Why wouldn’t the warranty cover mould on laths?
The laths from this company come untreated. Might make sense to treat them yourself first so this doesn’t happen to you too. The company will tell you it’s normal and just ‘grubbiness’ but I think most people can tell when it’s dirt vs. mould.
Edit: company has since harassed me with more unpleasant emails. I’d avoid honestly.

Although not strictly used for its intended purpose the Pulley Maid Classic Cloths Airer makes a fantastic space saving Pot and Utensil Rack. I store round Thali dishes and regularly used kitchen utensils within easy reach above my worktop. Looks great.

Bought a laundry shelf rack with wooden slats and black brackets to compliment our pulley for drying clothes.
This shelf is ideal for airing clothes after drying or ironing.
It was good value and well made.
Plus point was free delivery to the Highlands and a 20% reduction!
