Most low reviews are by DIY installers rather than pro installers. IS PYRONIX REALLY THE PROBLEM?
I write this review, because i see a few negative reviews regarding pyronix. The common deneominator are people installing the system who are not trained engineers. Most of the positive reviews are from proffessional installers. Pyronix is a brilliant builder of alarm systems that i rate 5 out of 5 everytime. The kit is great and service is excellent. Maybe these low star reviewers who are not installers should look to themselves rather than pyronix. Get your system installed by a regulated recognised company. It saves money and headaches in the long term. Pyronix is great

Very high running costs after just 21 months
On 20 April 2022, I had a Pyronix HIK Vision alarm system installed by a local company who had recommended it for my home. It cost £2,683. After 21 months, problems started to occur and costs began to escalate.
In January 2024, a sensor suddenly started setting off the alarm. Cost of rectification, £120
In April 2024, batteries needed to be replaced: that cost me £168.
On 20 April 2024. Pyronix’s two year warranty expired.
On 10 May 2024 (less than 25 months after installation) a component failed. It cost £120 to have the problem identified and the system disarmed. At this point, the system had cost me £408 in 2024. The quotation to replace the component: a further £237.
My dilemma now:
If I throw £237 of good money after bad, I will have what I feel is an untrustworthy system that will have cost me over £640 in running costs in just over 4 months. If I do not repair it, the Pyronix system will be a £3,000 pile of useless junk ... and on top of that, I will have no burglar alarm.
From my experience, the Pyronix system is expensive and unreliable. I would not recommend buying one.
Update 4/10/24
It is now over five months since my two-years old Pyronix alarm system crashed. It is still not working.
Following my earlier comments, Pyronix initiated an exchange that consisted of a telephone call and a few emails. They consistently tried to hide behind the installers (a leading local installer of commercial and domestic alarm systems). Pyronix have never accepted any responsibility for the obvious unreliability of their system. They did concede that the situation was ‘difficult’ for me.
They have not responded to my last email, sent over two months ago.
My experience. My Pyronix system was expensive to maintain, but more importantly, it was unreliable. In the additional light of their after-sales performance, Pyronix deserves no more than a one-star rating.
My recommendation. AVOID.

Called with an RS485 comms fault
Called with an RS485 comms fault that had us baffled.
The tech walked us through and eventually we traced it to an issue with the incoming mains supply causing AC induction which was knocking the 485 comms out.
Electrician on his way to trace the fault.

Excellent Tech Support
Having some issues on site as can happen with any alarm system. I spoke with Graham tech support who was and is always very knowledgeable and helpful.
We use Pyronix since the systems are basically bullet proof with any issues usually being a user error or something not related to the hardware itself.
Great company and great tech support.

Update, it was the installer, not Pyronix
14/5/24 I have had this alarm installed as part of our homebuild 8 years ago. It worked OK but was nothing special and it often got triggered for no reason. Three years ago it was 'upgraded' to eliminate the issue and allow us to control it from an app. The alarm still gets triggered by something as little as a money spider walking over the sensor. The Home Control app is useless, utterly useless. You cannot contact any Pyronix support. You have to go through your installer which means you are reliant on them responding and they never get a straight answer, nor any help from Pyronix either. Most of the time you get an error message when you try to log on and if you are not at home this means you cannot access your alarm. There is no rhyme or reason as to why the app refuses to work consistently. I am at the end of my tether with this alarm and am now going to shell out a fortune to have it taken out and replaced. Please stay well clear of Pyronix.
Update on 31/724. I have left my original one star review above but felt I owe Pyronix an update as they have been very helpful in resolving the issue. The issue was with the installer (Horsham security) who simply didn't know how to install or update the alarm and it turns out that with the 'upgrade' they fixed some of the components with sticky tape!). Pyronix went out of their way to help me sort the issue and find a new company to take over and maintain the alarm going forward. Everything works now as it should. I've taken one star off the review as I do think the control panel can only be maintained by an installer but it is easy to use once programmed. Thank you Pyronyx

Customer service & technical is great
Customer service is excellent, the area sales manager is great as is their technical support, they know their products and usually get the issue either resolved or at least identified allowing you to sort it quickly. You also don’t need to wait for hours to get through and they do call you back unlike other security manufacturers.
