The Quarto Lounge Hertford
The Quarto Lounge Hertford, don’t believe the hype. The deco might be fancy, nice spot, shame about the food.
Butter chicken over cooked. Not worth the price.

As a family with two children, Quattro has been our great find in the Reading area. Being Asian/Vegetarian, we always have limited choices around but we loved its food and our first four visits were great, hence we went today (i.e. 19th Oct), 5th time, not knowing, we will leave the restaurant in bad taste, feeling insulted, disgusted.
We never imagined, we would be treated like this and feel compelled to write this feedback.
As soon as we reached, we were happy, looking forward for a great evening. Settled down (same place as last time) and ordered one beer and one coke (w/o ice), which arrived promptly. Upon 1st sip, I felt that coke was bit flat - so we politely asked the waitress to check - feeling something is not write with the machine/dispenser, which can happen. We were bit surprised as we noticed quiet an animated conversation between Quattro's manager and waitress - as if he wasn't happy with our observation about coke. Manager came to our table and mentioned that he opened the coke from bottle so he is wondering why are we saying it's flat. We politely asked whether he can provide another glass. While serving the 2nd bottle, we were surprised to hear a sarcastic comment from him stating that "there is always some problem".
We were taken a back and paused for few minutes, felt it is better we clarify from him about his comment. So, we asked him to have a word with us and we politely asked, why he made this comment that "there is always some problem" - and his response shocked us. He had the audacity to mention that during our last visit (4th visit), which was roughly five weeks back, I complained about my drink. I remember that incident very well. What happened that we ordered one Southern Comfort without ice. But we were served with ice - so we politely asked the waitress to get us the drink as we ordered. And our drink was replaced so the matter was forgotten. We felt it could be a language issue. Ultimately, we had great meal, paid the tip and also positive feedback as we walked out.
We didn't know it was a big issue for him that he bothered to remember it for five weeks. So, we reminded him that it wasn't our fault about the drinks, we ordered w/o ice, they served with ice so what could be the issue. Then he went off-tangent complaining that when we visited last time, we requested for some cutlery from the waitress and he wasn't happy about that too.
We didn't know what to say. We felt insulted and angry. He was more keen to argue and justify that asking for cutlery and replacement of drink was a big issue for him - so his comment was justified. We went for a meal and we were disgusted with his antics and bad behaviour.
We have been around the world and came across restaurants of various kinds and quality - but this experience was truly exceptional. We decided to pay for the drinks and walked out. And manager, was more than happy to charged us for the drink and beer, which we didn't touch, sans one sip. So overall, after four lovely visits, this one ended in disaster, thanks to discourteous owner/manager, who has no idea about customer service. We have never come across, such a knit-picker, who would be happy to argue and let a customer walk about.
To be honest, we felt it wasn't just that; as we sense things when someone is odd on such silly matters. So if you are visiting Quattro, be ready to have your drink with ice, even of you've ordered it w/o ice - don't complain if coke is flat and please, for heavens sake, don't ask for cutlery. :)
