Terrible terrible experience

Oh my god, I can’t believe the reviews here, I could have written them all and I thought I was the only one being treated like this. They were taking money out of the account in fees but no one was managing the account or doing anything at all for us. It took forever just to work out how to withdraw my money and I had to go through sooo many checks and 90 minutes on hold unnecessary security phone calls. If I hadn’t been ‘on it’ they would have bled the account dry in a matter of a few years. They probably took around £2000 in fees before we realised what was happening and in all that time we were making no interest. Do not invest with them.

Terrible investment, terrible service

Just like the other reviews, I have had the same negative experiences.

They have lost half my money in nearly 20 years of it being invested, which is almost impossible given the market the last 20 years. They also charge outrageously high fees. I don't understand what the fees are for, given their service is terrible. I have also been trying to get my money out for months, but am repeatedly made to do security calls and wait on hold for 90 minutes at a time. I still have not been able to withdraw my money after months of trying. I would recommend doing literally anything else with your savings instead of using Utmost.

4 1/2 months and still no result

I started a 25% drawdown in April 2024 and today almost 5 months later it still hasn't happened. Random re-requesting of ID. Slow/non response I'd taking 3 months to get me my valuation. I am looking to complain to the IOM ombudsman also. This really just isn't acceptable.

Surely a regulator should step in and take over the business. Just cannot work out how to get a response. Very very poor

Pension transfer taking months - do not invest with them

I asked for transfer of my pension to another provider in January 2024 and am STILL being asked for documents that they already have. It takes weeks for the staff to review the documents that they have and they continue to cause delays asking for more and more documentation that has been provided over the past 9 years. I would be amazed if the transfer happened within 12 months from request !!!! Total lack of communication and effectiveness. Never ever use this company.

Appalling customer service

Appalling customer service. Submitted a surrender request for 1 segment of an estate planning bond on 23 April 2024 and here we are on 6 August 2024 with still no payment. Lots of calls and emails submitted and lots of excuses. Have raised a formal complaint and now raised with the IOM ombudsman. Be interesting to see if this review prompts any action. My recommendation is never to invest with Utmost, ever. Pity there isn’t a zero star.

Update: Now 12th August. Rang Utmost on 9th August. Promised call back with update on payment within 48 hrs. Nothing.

Update: Finally received payment on 20th August. Just 3 days off 4 months since submitting our withdrawal notice.

Do not use this company for bond investments!

Just like all the previous reviews about this company we have had the same experience. Initially we contacted them on 22nd of April requesting to cash in a bond and asking for paperwork to do this. We had no response until I escalated the matter. After 1 month the paperwork was sent and we completed it straight away. We have now been waiting a total of 3 months for our money to be released.
I have chased 8 times in total (both phone & email), and received a standard response (that they are overwhelmed with requests and are in the process of dealing with our request).
I have repeatedly asked for time frames as to how much longer the process will take, each time this request has been ignored and we're just told it's being processed. In my last email 4 days ago I asked for my email to be sent to customer service department to make a formal complaint, they haven't even responded yet.
In the meantime this has effected our financial planning and caused us additional expenses. It's shocking to think the fees, they take for providing such a poor service. My advise; place your bonds in another company, this one is clearly delivering a very poor service and return.

Delay on withdrawal

Still waiting for a routine standard withdrawal from my savings fund. Initial delay was a tactic to ask for a recent utility bill, now a further 2 weeks and no payment.
Update. Received my monies at end of week 4 but only after persistent chasing by my IFA and making it an "escalation" case. Instead of an "escalation" department why not just pay people expediently? Their web portal says that once everything is in place (funds) the transaction is same day. Never happened in my 5 years with them.

Still waiting for payment

We submitted a request for a withdrawal from our EPB via our FA in early April and are still waiting for payment.
In May he contacted Utmost and was told it was very busy. Late June he contacted them again and explained the money was needed for living expenses and was promised a response within 48 hours (took a week). Last week our FA contacted Utmost again and it was promised to 'escalate' the payment (again).
We have not had problems in previous years, but this issue is beyond a joke.

UPDATE: Payment has now been received.

Several months to receive a payment, long telephone waits

Despite sending in all the required documentation, along with a security call, 2 months later (not even weeks) I am still waiting for payment of a partial withdrawal from my EIB policy. There is no update from customer support and any phone call to determine the status requires between 40 to 70 minutes wait time. Each time the represenative is friendly however their hands are tied. If you need to make a withdrawal allow at least 3 mnths before you can expect payment.

AVOID AVOID. THIS COMPANY

Requested a withdrawal on 10th April now 5th July no correspondence from them rung 4 times after eventually getting through, to be told its being processed there is a backlog sorry nothing we can do. Sure they are reading off a script very abrupt. Being a small Business I needed this money to ease cash flow been waiting that long had to take a loan out. Which iam now paying intrest on , due to Utmost not paying me MY MONEY Back absolutely disgusting treatment of customers Avoid at all costs.

Unable to get a response from Utmost by email or phone

I received a letter from utmost about an error they made with the bond set up by my late mother. I replied immediately by email to two of their addresses and received automated acknowledgements from both saying they would respond in 5-10 working days. It's now 14 working days and I've heard nothing back. Today I called 2 of their support numbers, I was held in a queue on both, one dropped out after 23 minutes and I gave up on the other after 75 minutes. How can I get a response from them?
UPDATE on 15.7.24 - I’m glad to say that Utmost phoned me within 2 days of my above post, and they said they will now deal with the problem - I hope they will.

Delay in paying out to beneficiaries-



Member had invested money with Utmost through Sovereign Gibraltar and now at the time of disinvestment, member is facing major challenges.

Have been chasing to Utmost team for the last 36 days but they are not replying. Multiple emails have been sent by Sovereign and me but Utmost is not replying.
Have written to their complaint team also but still no reply.

Can someone suggest to get it sorted out....

Have received first email today from utmost after 39 days and 20 emails that they can not confirm as they can confirm update with Trustee only. Trustee is claiming that Utmost is not responding to them as well.
And over and above all, even after 39 days there is no refund of funds.

Really terrible customer service

Really terrible customer service. As a financial adviser trying to service our clients we are finding it extremely difficult to retrieve clients money with the massive delay lasting weeks being blamed on work load. I hope the FCA are looking into this (and Utmost have reported this to them as a breach?) as this is not treating the clients fairly.

Pay Premiums On Time for 20 Years, be made to wait for your money and get zero customer service. The bad reviews and warnings are true!

I paid premiums on time for 20 years and yet on reaching full term getting my money back is like getting blood from a stone. I see on their website it says it could take up to 45 days! There’s no mention of the interest they will pay you for having your money for this length of time. I have written and complained but have not had the courtesy of an answer. I’m extremely disappointed. Now I come here and see these reviews and have to say I agree avoid this company. Really do avoid this company.

My wife and I invested in Utmost 3…

My wife and I invested in Utmost 3 years ago and during the first two years they lost us over £30,000.00
so we withrew are funds and invested in propety which is a far better investment.

DONT TOUCH UTMOST ISLE OF MAN, if you want to keep your money, as once it’s with them you will find it hard to get it back again! I am now in touch with the Financial Ombudsman and have got a solicitor involved, it’s been a year, and a big joke! They have caused me to have so much stress, it’s incredible….. and they have the bloody cheeky to charge me £1,000 a month in charges! I lived abroad, and once l returned, to England l wasn’t supposed to have money there anymore….. I WISH I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS COMPANY!

A company which needs to investigated

My wife and her siblings are having to press this company to pay out their deceased mother's trust fund. This has already taken weeks. They claim this is because I was a UK civil servant and so a politically exposed person, even though the UK government have made clear I am not. The beneficiaries are having to deal with their grief as well as this obstruction. The UK defends the Isle of Man to the US and other countries suspicious of what goes on in this jurisdiction. Perhaps it is time the UK government stops giving the IOM a free pass on Foreign and Defence issues if their companies behave like this to UK taxpayers. I am thinking of suggesting to the US Treasury that they should take a closer look at this company.
I have had a reply from quilterinternational.com saying that the money has been released, as it has. It dodged the issue of classifying me a Politically Exposed Person, which is wrong, disproportionate, prejudicial and threatening. They will know full well that the British government does not regard me, or its civil servants in general (we are functionaries and not political), as PEPs). Perhaps we need regulations classifying leaders of offshore financial systems in some way.
The reply from Utmost fails to deal with the fact that the Uk government has made clear that I am not a politically exposed person. These very rich people running Utmost hide behind their defences in the Isle of Man but they cannot expect support of UK diplomacy if they do not heed its rulings and wilfully cause distress to grieving people and sully my name.
