Had a nightmare in getting an answer to a simple question about how to surrender my Skandia-Old Mutual-Quilter policy (that is now supposedly managed by a company called Utmost). Customer service lines not answered for >30 minutes...and once answered I transferred to another number which again wasn't answered for >20 minutes. The voice message gave no indication of position in the queue, expected time of wait or a call-back option. Once I got through the information I was given could have easily been provided on-line - but wasn't.

I can just confirm all that is being said in those other reviews. Fees are outrages, unjustified and out of proportion. Service is null. I really feel I have been scammed into this plan (at a time I was too young to understand the real consequences of what I was signing up for) and I so much regret now as I am in a trap, seeing all investment going down.

Absolutely ridiculous charges, poor performance of the funds...

They are piling up so many layers of useless (yet very expensive!) "portfolio managers" and "funds managers" between the investor and the actual assets that any potential upside vanishes and ends up as a fat bonus for some locusts...

Communication is dreadful, no transparency - Don't invest there!

Do not invest with this firm. Unless you want to get rid of your money of course! Ridiculous charges for doing absolutely nothing and ending up in negative returns. My funds invested for over 17 years is now half of what it was and this never improved even in bull markets. Spend your money gambling or partying instead, it will better than investing here!

Simply an appalling company. Zero customer service and exorbitant fees that resulted in negative returns for me in the midst of a bull market for stocks. When I finally decided that I’d had enough of funding extravagant lunches and bonuses for Utmost staff, it took the company more 6 weeks to release what little remained of the funds I’d been depositing for 5+ years. My broker was able to speak with the local Utmost rep and that was the only means by which the funds were released. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT invest any money with this appalling company.

I had a very similar experience to the previous two reviewers. Their level of customer service is truly appalling, with apathetic employees who can take longer than one week to respond to emails, and who generally know little, if anything about their own company's products. In total, it took me two months to collect the proceeds from my matured policy.
In addition, and arguably more importantly, their products are poor with exorbitant fees and a general lack of transparency. There are far better products out there on the market, make sure you do your research.
The Agent who managed to persuade me, much to my subsequent regret, to buy a product from Upmost, TempleBar International, also stopped communicating and answering emails. This meant that I couldn't get updates on the valuation of my policy, and Upmost go to great lengths to dissuade you from contacting them directly rather than going through your agent.
The company website also appears to be down most of time for 'maintenance'. I did eventually receive a letter of apology from Upmost, acknowledging that their service was substandard and stating that they would carry out an investigation; however, I never received financial compensation.

Utmost International formerly Quilter makes withdrawals very difficult for investors. I have a complaint against the company for delaying and making it almost impossible to withdrawal. See my other review for Quilter International.

This is a rubbish company. I've been trying to withdraw some funds I have with them since the end of March 2021 and they keep asking me for additional information and documentation. I've replied to more than 20 emails already providing ALL the info they ask for. Then they come with new questions and requirements that they didn't have before. It's exausting. I'm almost giving up!
