Exactly the same as other reviews!

Exactly the same as other reviews!! Are Rancom looking at this?? If it was my company I would be embarrassed to see these reviews. They regularly ask for more money for yet more changes to the system and veiled threats that our existing system may not work. I’ve paid for the system and breakdown cover till 2029 and I’m not even using it now as we have pets in the house and they are yet to change the alarm system to suit. And yes I’m 73 with the brain power and energy of a 30 year old 🧐. Waiting for more calls now dropping the price 😠

I am writing to say that I totally…

I am writing to say that I totally agree with all that has been said about this company. I regularly receive calls first asking how I am and is everything working with the system, followed by a ' You have to upgrade as your warranty has expired and you will no longer get annual checks or support.' As I paid for cover as requested until 2027 and was assured it covered everything I do not need to pay anymore.I have been a customer since 2006 and it was managed by Direct Response in those days and was so much better.
It seems to be a ploy now to target the elderly and subject them to veiled threats unless they pay more money. Unfortunately some of them would be pressured into paying more and more.
My advice is to others looking for Security Systems look elsewhere!

Asking for more money

Been a customer for 10 years- after they took over from a local company- they now say they want an extra payment because my system is out of warranty- well no where written on my contract by the representative is anything to show this and I wasn’t told that this would be the case. The system is supposed to be pet friendly-not if you have Cats. All my ‘alarm activations’ have been caused by my cats setting it off or if it’s not my cats setting it off then it’s just false activations - either way it’s stressful- because I don’t feel protected at all. I was persuaded to upgrade in 2020 and renewed my contract in 2021 for 5 years- I wish I had told them to remove their equipment then, but the sales guy seemed open and honest. But last year they asked for the remaining contract instalments upfront (I pay monthly) I refused- now they want extra for warranty. I have two years of contract to run, and they say that their tech support will sort the cats setting the alarm off out. But having seen similar experiences regarding upgrades and their tactics on here, I need to rethink everything.

It’s interesting reading the reviews as…

It’s interesting reading the reviews as I could have written any one of them. The latest is having the new system with a sim. Having said no 3 times, I had another call yesterday saying I needed to pay £795 + VAT now or my system will be letting me down all the time. I still declined their offer. When I extended my contract to 2027, five years ago, I asked what happened if I moved. They said if I could not sell on, I would get a refund proportionate to the remaining time. When I asked yesterday what would happen if I cancelled if my system no longer worked I was told there would be no refund. I have been with the company for 16yrs under different names. Now there are so many competitive systems it would pay them to do their best for customers, not aggressively, blackmail them into handing over more money.

More money requested

Contacted by another sales person after taking out a new five year contract only to be told I have no maintenance package, I was led to believe this was included. Asked for another £795 to cover this, please do not sign up with this company, only after as much money as they can get out of customers.

Whenever the phone rings this company want more money to fix the system with an upgrade. I wish I had never had their alarm system. I think the attitude of this company to existing customers is simply that they are there to be exploited.

My elderly Father was called several times in an attempt to gain money, once they threatened him saying his alarm wouldn't work unless he paid almost £2,000. They attempted to blackmail him to have the work done by Christmas. Utter scumbags.

AVOID _ RANCOM SECURITY

as per previous review, an elderly family member has security system with them, they have been pestering them over the last few months saying system needs to be upgraded due to PSTN Network, the cost would be just over £1200 with the same cost of £1200 to Rancom. They were originally told that the cost would be £1900, but this has now dropped to £1200 just like that!!
**Avoid** preying on the elderly with scare mongering tactics and asking for card details over the phone to enable them to take quicker payment**

please note that Rancom latest is to get current customers to pay extra for equipment changes for BT Analogue to Digital. we have rang talk talk and BT to be told that although changes are happening between now and 2025 the copper analogue will still be active. Therefore no changes need to be done right now on the equipment...its just another money maker for Rancom..please check things out before accepting their advice.

Disillusioned Client

Since taking over from Direct Response the service has nosedived from superb to diabolical. No regular service intervals, charging for battery replacements, hard sell from the "engineers" who are salesmen in disguise, not using the Police anymore when the alarm is raised G4S if they bother to turn up is now the alternative. We are now foisted off with Protect and Serve, who also seem to disregard the needs of customers.

Extremely aggressive sales tactics and then they only time they want to speak to you is to sell you 'extras' and 'upgrades' at ridiculous prices midway through a fully inclusive contract and don't deliver what you buy anyway. They are 100% about the sales and 0% about the customer experience

Let the buyer beware!

My mother-in-law had an alarm system fitted by Rancom Security and paid a monthly charge for monitoring and servicing, however the monitoring and services were not carried out. Rancom would have know this as my M-I-L had Alzheimer's and 'foolishly' cut the wires. With the cables cut, Rancom Security still charged a monthly fee (and they were entitled to) but not once contacted her to say there was a problem with the connection nor did they pick it up on the services as they did not attend and carry them out. Several attempts were made to discuss this with the company, which fell on deaf ears so we cancelled her contract. We intended on taking it further but walked away from it in the end as it wasn't worth the stress. We even had communication from Leicestershire Police regarding Rancom Security! Please don't think I'm being vindictive regarding this company, check out the Google Reviews. They too could confirm our experience.
Caveat emptor!
