Elddis Avante Apex 550

We bought our new caravan from Raymond James and the service from start to finish (handover of the caravan) has been excellent. The caravan arrived when they said it would and we had excellent communication about collection, etc. The handover was superb. Caravan all ready & warm with a detailed explanation of everything - outside to inside. Superb expertise and advice from Ian. Great communication from Jayne and Jacqui throughout. A friendly, approachable company who clearly take pride in providing fantastic customer service. Would highly recommend.

New Caravan Purchased with RJC

We recently purchased a new Bailey Alvor caravan from Raymond James Caravans, and the whole experience was outstanding from start to finish. Everything was well organised, and the handover of our Swift Challenger 560 went perfectly. The handover on the new van was the best we’ve ever received in over 20 years of caravanning — Ian took his time to go through every detail thoroughly and professionally and put us at ease from the start, a credit to the RJC.
A special thankyou as well to Jackie, who looked after us all the way through, taking care of the paperwork, CHRIS registration, Tracker setup, and booking in our first service.
Fantastic service throughout — five stars+ for Raymond James Caravans! Thanks again to Ian and Jackie for looking after us so well.

We cannot fault Raymond James

We cannot fault Raymond James, we purchased a Bailey, Pegasus, Rimini, Grande, second hand, and the whole experience has been fantastic. We received a fair part ex on our old caravan, the handover was extremely professional, and the caravan was extremely well presented. all the staff were extremely professional and made us feel valued. We took up offer of a free 1 night stay at Lime Trees caravan park a couple of miles away. We absolutely love our new caravan, and the weather was horrendous, which was an excellent test for the caravan.
Thank you Raymond James.

Kevin smith pdi

I have recently had an issue with the enduro motor mover that was installed by Raymond James on purchase of our first caravan. KEVIN SMITH out of pdi visited my home location, to identify the issue, this resulted in the caravan having to go into the workshop for repair. Due to my wife having an accident in our tow vehicle I didn’t have anyway of collecting the caravan back from the workshop. Kev went out of his way to arrange for my caravan to be delivered back to storage location. Saved me a lot of hassle and stress of borrowing vehicles etc!
Kev your a diamond and a credit to Raymond James!
Thank you for identifying fixing and returning caravan all within a 24hr window!

We’ve just moved from Swift to Coachman…

We’ve just moved from Swift to Coachman and bought brand new from Raymond James. I have to say the service received has been first class; from initial enquiry, to part exchange to finally picking up the new van. Nothing is too much trouble and they actually do what they say they are going to do, which is really refreshing. The handover day was probably the best I’ve ever had and the process was carried out so efficiently and effectively. If there were more than 5 stars they’d receive them and I’d absolutely recommend buying a caravan from Raymond James.

Even though the Caravan was second hand had been cleaned and checked and was in lovely condition also as part of their summer sale I got a Avtex wi-fi router and Avtex Smart TV very nice bonus. I would recommend Raymond James Caravans.

So far so perfect.

Collected our new Coachman Lusso II 2025 yesterday. The sale was handled perfectly, when they had our old van in for part exchange they stuck to the original part offer ex price. We knew we had to pay for some damage caused by ourselves and also replace the microwave that decided to stop working 24 hours before we left to come home from our last holiday in our old van ☹️. Arrange to pick up new van three days later. We were given our handover by Ian. He was very knowledgeable totally professional and a delight to deal with. I have a long history of caravanning and this was by far the best handover I have ever witnessed. If the bosses read this, you at Raymond James are fortunate to have such a fab employee.
I have read all their reviews some good some bad, a real cross section, however if you go on any dealership site you will see this. I can only speak as I find and thus far they have not let me down. So until they do I will remain impressed.

Awful communication from senior staff

Awful communication from senior staff. A complete lack of ownership from everyone involved when trying to resolve an issue. We purchased a brand new vehicle on 9/5/25 and after 10 weeks of excuses, have had enough of this dreadful company. The culture permeates from the Board of Directors to the vast majority of staff that we have dealt with. If you are considering buying a motorhome from this company, don't waste your time as they are just a dreadful business to deal with. if we could give zero or negative stars, that would be too good for them.

Stay clear of this company when buying…

Stay clear of this company when buying a caravan, I had arranged to pick up a new caravan this weekend and had paid all the money up front so that we could do a straight exchange with my old van as part ex. They did a check over of my van and had a list of faults wrong with my van. They wanted another 2k to close the deal. I hooked my old van up and drove away. It took me 4 hours to get there and 4 hours to get home. What a waist of time and so infuriating.

Not a company you would want to do business with...avoid Raymond James Caravans and Elddis

Raymond James Caravans (RJ) are the worst company to deal with & they should be ashamed!

They are happy to fabricate stories & make wild accusations about how you use & treat a £30,000 caravan!

They have used delay tactics & have no regard for customer care. They would rather stop any warranty work & hide behind Elddis or Erwin Hymer Group then have repeat business & then have the nerve to email & write 'you are a valued customer'!

Ben Ball & Sonia have been difficult throughout & I cannot express enough how you should not buy anything from this company!

We bought a brand new top of the range Elddis Crusader Mistral in May 2022.

From day one we have had nothing but issues with this caravan, ranging from cupboard doors falling off, water ingress, upholstery failing, inferior products being used & going rusty, on going saga with leaks...etc. 34 faults in 28 months. A record that no one should be proud of!!

But the worst was yet to come....when the caravan was just 2 years, 4 months old the front of the caravan came away from the body & chassis!!!!

I have never witnessed anything quite like it before & in all the caravans we have owned in 35 years, none have looked like this with some being 15 years old+!

Raymond James have 60 years in the trade, surely they know a bad caravan when they see one! They had the caravan twice for servicing & then a further 4 times for warranty work with a 5th time due, but refuse to book it in. Been waiting a month now. When did our warranty become void?

The work under warranty repair is for the damp readings of 40%, they have confirmed they will do this, BUT the caravan being un towable & falling apart, they will not do under warranty! Confussed.., yes, so are we! Especially with the report undertaken.

We had an independant assessor come & his findings were alarming.

The assessment was done by a reputable caravan repair specialist who has the same credentials as Raymond James Caravans.

He has deemed this caravan 'unsafe', 'untowable' & it's been caused by a 'manufacturing default'. You can clearly see no bonding has been used & the fixtures & fixings used were not the correct ones. Rivets into wood, which have failed. The assessor made it very clear that the failure is down to a manufacturing process & cannot be attributed to the owners!!

Elddis are very proud of their SOLID construction for their caravans. So proud infact that their vigorous testing 'apparently' has these caravans towed at speed, with their caravans over loaded in weight over potholed roads to simulated 20,000 - 30,000 miles, (which is considered in their eyes as a lifetime of a caravan)! Ours managed 6000 miles before it collapsed!

Not only did they write about these tests, they also did video's which can be found online (Youtube) with an engineer inside the caravan whilst it was being filmed. He can barely talk for the speed / roughness in which it was taken! Not something we would dream of doing to a caravan!

According to RJ & Elddis the damage has been caused by us going over sleeping policeman & overloading the caravan, the very thing (in part) that these caravans can do without damage, apparently!! Where is the truth & transparancy?

There is no chance that our 'fragile' van has done any tests of this nature!

There pathetic excuse is totally unsubstantiated & based on absoutely nothing, they haven't even inspected it!

Just for the record this caravan is a 4 berth caravan with 2 adults using it. No children! We do not overload the caravan & use it weekends only, light use!

These caravans are not tested as they claim - how can they be?! They are not worth the price tag that they come with, using strap lines like 'caravans for connoisseurs' & 'grandure' in their brochure gives an impression of sophistication & class, 'a cut above'....something that we cannot confirm you get from Elddis.

We are left with a caravan that is worth half of what we paid for it 2 years ago.

We feel the industry needs to be made accountable for their inferior products.

We have tried to be reasonable & fair, giving RJ & Elddis every opportunity to reconsider & they flatly deny any responsibility, choosing to say we have damaged it by going over a speed hump! Clearly going against the views of a reputable caravan repairer with the same credentials as RJ & indeed their own marketing!

Shameful.

Edit for RJ response
We have followed ALL guidelines.
You have not asked how we use the caravan nor inspected it! You chose to dismiss a professional report.
Isn't it about time you gave honest answers & not fabricated stories. Our expectations are realistic, 2 year old caravans should not be untowable by a manufacturing defect. Taking 2 years to collapse proves that we use our caravan infrequently, 6000 miles only, if this was a car it would be 6 months old!

Regardless of warranty, this van is not fit for purpose!

Reply from Raymond James Caravans

Dear Mrs Hale,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. While we appreciate all reviews, we feel it is important to clarify several aspects of your concerns to ensure transparency and fairness.

We understand how frustrating it can be to face issues with a product you’ve invested in, and we are truly sorry that you have experienced these difficulties. However, after a thorough assessment of your caravan’s condition and the circumstances surrounding the reported damage, we must address the situation based on our findings and the terms of the warranty provided by the manufacturer.

The issue with the front of the caravan detaching from the body and chassis has been identified as a result of misuse, rather than a manufacturing defect. While we respect your long history of responsible caravan use, our findings indicate that the caravan has not been treated with the proper care and attention required, particularly regarding loading and handling over uneven surfaces such as speed bumps or rough ground.

We have sold numerous models of the same caravan without reports of similar issues. Additionally, the fact that the caravan was in use for over two years without experiencing this problem further supports our conclusion that this claim is not attributable to a manufacturing fault.

It is important to clarify that a warranty is not a guarantee of lifetime, unconditional repairs or replacements. Warranties cover faults resulting from manufacturing defects, but damage caused by misuse, wear and tear, or improper care falls outside this scope. We encourage all owners to follow maintenance and usage guidelines carefully to prevent such issues.

Regarding your comments about our business practices, we would like to emphasize that our team strives to act with professionalism and integrity at all times. While we understand that this situation has caused frustration, we find some of your remarks to be unfair and not reflective of the respectful dialogue we aim to foster with all customers.

As for your concerns about delay tactics, we can assure you that we have worked within the warranty parameters and alongside the manufacturer, Elddis, to address your concerns promptly. For instance, many of the items you mentioned, such as the damp issue, are being addressed under warranty. However, the structural damage you reported has been determined to result from misuse, which places the responsibility for repairs with the owner.

While we appreciate the time and effort you have taken to bring your concerns to our attention, we also believe it is important to set realistic expectations regarding warranty coverage and responsibilities. Should you wish to discuss this matter further or explore potential repair options outside warranty coverage, we would be happy to assist.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards Team RJC

Fantastic service with a warranty issue

We had a small problem with our new awning that required it to be retuned for repair. David and Steve in the Awnings Department were magnificent - everything dealt with courteously, efficiently and professionally, and to our complete satisfaction. Superb service from Raymond James Caravans - thrilled that we ended up buying our awning from this company.

Excellent service from start to finish!!

We collected our Coachman Avocet last Friday, what a fantastic service. From the very start dealing with sales, Kenny and Darren, right through to Ian and Bob, with our collection day handover.

Nothing was to much trouble, the handover was detailed and we gained so many top tips! Ian and Bob are a wealth of knowledge, friendly and are clearly passionate about their job. We are still relatively new to caravans so being able to ask even the silly questions was so helpful.

We will definitely be back when it is time to swap and we will be recommending to our friends and family.

Excellent customer service Raymond James Caravans!

I wish I had read reviews before…

I wish I had read reviews before dealing with this company. They are appalling. Getting anyone to phone you back is a miracle. The woman on service is so rude she actually called me a liar. They are fine when first dealing with you & a sales is in the offing but thereafter they really don't care. Their only redeeming person is the guy who talks you through the features of the van you have bought & is so helpful. I am trying to get the sink screwed in but no-one is phoning me back. I will be going to trading standards as the van is still under warranty.

Absolute C

While having them doing the first year service on our caravan, bought new from them in 2023, we decided to buy a new Bailey Adamo motorhome for full advertised price trading in the 1 year old caravan they had sold us. The deal was agreed and in addition to keeping our caravan there and then, they also requested and we paid an additional £1000.00 cash deposit, which we did and we agreed collection as soon as the motorhome was registered (circa 4 weeks time).5 days later they rang us saying that the caravan we had bought new from them in 2023 was actually a 2022 model and so they now required an extra £2000.00 from us to continue the deal. This just rang alarm bells as when we had traded our previous caravan in, when we arrived to collect, suddenly they claimed our old caravan was riddled with damp and they chipped us for an extra £3000.00. How we wish we had read others reviews before they caught us the first time. They had the gall to try it a second time. What can we say. Avoid these people at all costs.

Spend your money elsewhere

When I thought I would write a review of this company, I had hoped that it would have some meaning. Obviously there are so many honest reviews before me that I am sure they simply do not care about reviews. Anyway, here is my opinion for what it is worth: This company will rip you off and have absolutely no morals whatsoever. Now whilst saying that I should qualify my comments. They do have one or 2 staff that do seem to care, but as their hands are tied by their management they can do nothing. We spent £43,200 on a brand new Buccaneer caravan. The sales staff were friendly until they have signature and then they simply dont care as they have moved on to the next victim.
The new caravan team were helpful and friendly, the handover all good. Thats the end of the positives. From the day we have started to use the caravan we have had numerous problems, and problems that they have failed to fix on numerous occasions. They have attempted and failed to fix our bathroom wall on 5 occasions, it is still a complete mess. They have replaced rusty taps, leaking pipes, mattresses, cupboard doors, draw fronts, blinds and numerous other items. They have caused more damage whilst doing repairs than actually repairing. The caravan is now 18 months old and still has original repairs outstanding after incompetent repairs that have failed. The last time we collected the caravan after it being with them for over three months they removed the battery, we had no idea until we got to site when we couldnt put the legs down (automatic legs) then of course the caravan would not level due to calibration issues. They always blame a service technician who is "no longer with the business". You have to chase constantly for information, they threaten you to pick up your van within three days because they have no space and then three months later you are chasing them for its return. Our caravan has been with them for over 6 months in total, we have only been away in it 3 times since new because of the issues. The management know the law and will do nothing unless you take legal action. I have emails from them stating they would fight any claim. I have emails that start without predjudice meaning I cant use their paltry offers in court. Fact is I have now engaged lawyers at great cost because I am simply not prepared to let them get away with it. My van was new, and contractually I have never had what I paid for. The problems that still exist were first reported within 2 weeks of us picking the van up. From the 2015 consumer rights act, that is when the clock stopped for a claim, therefore I am well within my rights for a full refund. That is the basis for a claim according to my lawyers and we will take them to court on this basis. I will keep posing update reviews on this journey, in the hope that they can be stopped from ripping off any other customer, unless of course I have to sign a gagging order to get a refund, in which case I will be prevented from posting further.
