Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process. Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

All was good till I checked into my room
I have never written a review before but I feel that this is very important so that is why I am writing this review. The name of the resort is called the SHERATON Vista resort fountains Villas in Orlando. I was there for one week building 17 second floor Unit 1308. We stayed from June 25 to July 2. Check in was great no problems well I got in the room of my villa kitchen seem fine dining room living room seem fine went into the bedroom that was not fine went into the guest bedroom that was not fine went into the bathroom that was not fine the master bathroom. I put my hand over the nightstand dresser when I went to plug in my chargeable units to have dust fly everywhere and I mean dust I did take pictures so I hope I can download them and you can see them then I went into my daughters spare bedroom and on her dresser where the TV was again there was dust everywhere so I called customer service and explain the situation and told him I just checked in and I’d like to have someone come up and just the room that it had not been clean properly now mind you I am a member for over close to 40 years. I was told that they do not come up just for dusting and I said you don’t understand it’s not a little dust it’s a lot of dust it’s the top shelf of the nightstand the second shelf of the nightstand my daughters dresser meanwhile I didn’t check the rest of the unit yet to find out that the sink in the master bathroom had hair in it it was gross but I was so upset by the person who answered the phone and told me she would not come up I have cleaning service come up to just the room that I did not want to ruin my vacation and I cleaned myself and said I would be down to customer service to talk to someone during the week being it was my first day getting there . So during the week I went down and I spoke to somebody and they were very apologetic and told me that they would get in touch with housekeeping housekeeping called me and said that they apologize and that they were trying to get me a free week never heard anymore from them no one ever came up to see how my unit was if I needed anything when I did call for towels or garbage bags or any of that stuff they were very accommodating and did bring it right up well by Thursday my duvet which I don’t have one was getting very messy on the bed so I went to move it around to try to fix it which those of you who know what it is it’s a blanket inside a cover while I was getting all kinds of all over the place so as I was shaking it to make it even the bottom of the blanket came out and I noticed three spots of red on the bottom at first I thought it was a lint but it wasn’t it was blood which made me even more upset so I called the manager of housekeeping and he came right away he took the blanket left the duvet but took the blanket help me make the bed told me he would talk to his housekeeping said to me he wasn’t sure if that really was Blood and I said to him are you kidding me I said it’s blood I said you should’ve had it bleached or it should’ve been thrown out we are in the middle of a Covid pandemic. I just think that it was a half ASS job And someone should’ve come up to clean the unit again. Also the night before we checked out we were told to dial zero to see what the balance was on the credit that they had they held for the deposit. To find out that a $36 charge was taken from my $175 deposit and I asked them what that was about and they said that I had charge food and a drink and I said I absolutely did not charge food and drink I never use my room key except to get into my room because you could use your room key to put the food in the drink on your account with your room key and they said they would investigate it and they did find out that somebody else did charge my room for their services of a drink and food so they said they took it off so I’m still waiting to see I’ve been home since Saturday today is Wednesday I’m still waiting for the 175 to go back onto my account and they told me it would take 2 to 3 days so I’m waiting till tomorrow to see what happens I’m sorry I went on and on about this but I just think it’s important that people know. know.

This is my fault for being so gullible
This is my fault for being so gullible. We went to the seminar in St.Pete to receive a stay at the resort for 99 dollars. we told each other no matter what we wouldn't fall for their presentation. well I was sold I certainly commend the gentleman presenting he did great. So good in fact I believed everything he said. They say there's a magical website that can get you super cheap hotels. This was a lie as kayak and expedia are always cheaper. We travel often but do not have lots of extra money so this site alone sounded good. We found out you have to pay to receive your "premier weeks". You need to use them within 2 years or you lose them but your payments wont pay enough to use them so the days are gone. They said we'd have this price locked in forever and our kids would even have this price even after years of inflation. The customer service is very bad and the last women I spoke with admitted that even she wouldn't have bought into the program. After she argued with me I asked her does she partake in her own companies program? She paused and quietly said no i do not. I said why is that? She said she couldn't answer. I want out of this so bad but they keep taking money and give you nothing. The only thing we can do is go to the water park in St. Pete for free. Please stay away and no that the presentation is very well done and they will make you feel like its a no brainer bargain that you'd be dumb to pass up. They never have the places youd like to stay, they have fees for EVERYTHING. Stay away

I so hate that my resort uses RCI
I so hate that my resort uses RCI. I've watched friends have much easier times if they had Interval. RCI consistently gives wrong or contradictory information. And then the CSRs have the nerve to get upset or even hang up on you when you call to clarify the WRONG information given by previous agents. Have of them are young, untrained, and arrogant. I've had to deal with them for years and although I love the idea of timeshares, having to deal with them makes me want to cancel every year!!
Buyer Beware - Stay Away!

RCI is certainly not what it used to be, have been with RCI over 30 years, own a 3 bedroom unit at Kyneton, doing exchange in Canada for October, gave us a studio room !!!
So annoyed, last time we will use RCI after this trip, getting rid of it when we get back
Also not happy we have to deal with people overseas not Australia

Great customer service! I had a problem with a cruise and when I called the representatives Tina and Kadesha went above and beyond to resolve the issue in a satisfactory way. Made me feel appreciated as a customer.

Complete Scam
While visiting Jamaica we were invited to a timeshare sales presentation and decided to attend. This is what happened: During the week of October 31-November 6, 2021 our family vacationed at the Bahia Principe resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. Our wonderful time was interrupted by a sales pitch that was full of lies and deceit. The slick talk, omissions, lies and misrepresentation, caused us to sign a contract we were not given ample time to read over. We asked for time to study the contract, to which we were very highly pressured to sign right then. That should have been our sign to run, but, here we are.
After all the things we were promised, imagine our surprise when we signed in to the Privilege Club website to book our first vacation. We found that everything we had been told was a LIE! We had asked the staff member working with us, what our cost would be, he looked us straight in the eye and told us it would be $239 plus a "nominal fee". What he neglected to tell us was the "nominal fee" was $97 per person, per night!! That was NEVER explained. The table of fees was barely mentioned as if it was not important at all. Now we see that it is of the utmost importance. My adult son repeatedly asked questions that forced the staff member to reiterate what we were understanding our benefits were. Over and over the staff blatantly lied. The Privilege Club has stolen $9,091.65 from our family. The response from RCI was another blatant lie. The folks from the resort were great. 100% of our issues are because of the scum bags at RCI. Considering we have not yet been able use any of our so-called vacations, I would expect any legitimate organization to offer a full refund. I don't think RCI has the integrity to do so.

Don’t make the same mistake we did
If you’re reading this review it’s not too late to run. My wife and I bought the whole sales pitch in Orlando for free Disney tickets. (well my wife did I knew the danger) That we would be part owner of a beautiful two bedroom resort and that we would trade it for other locations throughout the country and world. I live and worked directly behind one of these “resorts” and it’s a dump. Air conditioning from the 70s, dirty carpets, stair banisters loose and dangerous. We booked a week in Massanutten in Virginia and it was like stepping back in time to a Chevy Chase family vacation movie, outdated place, old jacuzzi, dirty grill and stained couches. Expensive lesson learned, never again in our lives. Don’t Do It!!!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I waited a few days too long to use my points on the property I wanted. It's available but now it's an "extra" getaway and I can't use points. The customer service rep on the phone was incredibly rude and hostile-- there is another word but I won't write it--and not helpful at all. She could not have cared less...."book when you see something." I know that!! The property is still available but not with points. With Covid, we have been paying $$$ to renew points and unable to go. I see no point in continuing to pay RCI given how they run their business. In fact, AVOID timeshare. It's a waste of money

I would never use this company again
I would never use this company again. I paid them 4,000 dollars for a cruise and it was canceled because of Covid. The cruise line told me that they reimbursed RCI my money and now RCI is telling me that they don’t have it and will not book me another cruise so I lost all that money and they will not work with me. I spent five days on hold off and on and they would never call me back if our call got disconnected, so I would have to start all over again, and nothing was ever resolved, they said that they would call me back or send me an email about what they found and never heard from them. It was a nightmare and this company shouldn’t even be in business it is not about their customers it is all about money.

Beware RCI is a scam criminal timeshare company
Unfair practices. I live in the uk. Deposited my 2 bed timeshare and because of covid couldn’t book anything. I’ve paid to extend my deposit but still no uk or Europe units available except couple of north Europe apartments too small for my family and in mid January when school doesn’t allow holiday. Nothing available to book in the next 2 years either. I’ve been told my deposit is expiring and can’t be extended again. But there is nothing to book. I’m not being fussy… first tried England then whole of uk then Ireland and then whole of Europe…nothing this year or 2023 or 2024!!! I don’t mind waiting till 2025 or 2026 but they won’t extend my deposit…..this is criminal in my mind as they can’t provide what they promised and just don’t care. I will never ever deposit with RCI and will warn as many people as I possibly can to never use RCI

Scam
Scam. This thing is absolutely worthless. I was planning a trip to Galveston and a buddy of mine booked a couple of days before me with hotels.com and paid 645 for 3 days. I booked at the same hotel, same room size, same days, two days later with my RCI "PLATINUM " membership hoping to get a great deal, and it gave me a price of 680 this was including my "PLATINUM " membership discount plus 6,000 points. My wife and I could do nothing but laugh when we saw that price. This time share is pathetic. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!

RCI changes refundable to nonrefundable without notice!!
I have many problems with RCI. The most current one is with my granddaughter. My wife and I are buying a cruise foe our 50th anniversary in 2020. It was postponed twice. My granddaughter was in a ROTC program, so we purchased a refundable reservation. She is now in the military in Alaska and cannot make it to the East Coast for the current sailing. We asked for a refund. We were told they redid the reservations and my granddaughter's reservation was changed to non-refundable. Why? Who was authorized to do this? So far, no answers. Did we get reimbursed? No.

How can a company scam people out of…
How can a company scam people out of money during this time when gas prices are on the rise and food prices are high
they target people on vacation
and tell them to go to a resort to talk about timeshares they offer free gifts and tickets to a show and a 25.00 gift card and let's not forget that they make you pay 50.00 dollars to talk to some one about the resort
WELL GUEST WHAT HAPPEN TO ME
I was on vacation and they scam me out my money and gift a meeting that was supposed to be 1 hour turn into 4 hours and they did not understand the word no
and when you kindly tell them that you can not purchase what they are selling they began to have a bad attitude the behavior is acceptable from the employees they turn into pit bull when you turn down their offer they took a good enjoyable vacation and turn it into a robbery I don't understand why hotels will allow this company into their lobby but I guess long as they are paying the hotel
they hotel do not care but I feel as if the hotel should take responsibility for this company being dishonest to the customer that are staying at their hotel
THEY ARE DANGEROUS COMPANY
I am not apologizing for what iam I am about to say
the day i went there mostly people of color why do companies decide to keep robbing people of color
SO PLEASE COPY AND PAST
these people must be STOP!!!
so if you know someone going on vacation please tell them do not stop and to this company the claim to be a tour group they NOT
tell them to run 🏃♂️

With Covid ongoing for the last two…
With Covid ongoing for the last two years, RCI is doing nothing to ease the situation. We have points that will expire and have no further extension time. It’s a waste of money to be part of this timeshare company. You certainly do not save any money as they try to advertise. I’m essentially paying for a vacation that I never got to take, due to no fault on my own. Ridiculous. Don’t get into their trap. They take way more money than the value they give

I have booked several cruises and…
I have booked several cruises and resort stay through RCI. But since covid I have had to reschedule cruises. I tried to call them and pay my final payment. Which is 1000 dollars. I wanted to put it on my credit card because it was due on April 22 2022. I have called about four times each call I was placed on hold for at least an hour each. Just yuesterday I was on hold 2.5 hours and not one person answered my call. I need to pay for it and I need to book another cruise since my wife and child cannot go because they don't have the covid vaccination. I called the booking phone number on my bank statement after they tried to take money out of my account that lacked the funds to pay in full the invoice. had they answered my call I could have paid it before the invoice date. POOR SERVICE!! After this and the next cruise I will never do business through RCI and I will also drop my condo from RCI.

Los Olas Satellite Beach, FL
I have owned a week at Los Olas, Satellite Beach, Fl for over 40 years. Ocassionaly I go in & have a paper notarized. I have been doing this for a long time and it never bothers anyone. A new front desk manager got annoyed and had her Manager Christine Nolan call me. This person blasted me for having the nerve to ask them to notarize a paper. She was yelling at me and the rudest I have ever seen! I will never go back to Los Olas again. I will be dropping my week there. I don’t want to be around rude obnoxious people!!
