Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process. Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

RCI cruise certificate fraud
A few years ago, RCI solicited me to buy a "cruise package". For $4000 they would offer upgraded cruise opportunities, a free resort stay and yada yada. So I fell for it. I paid the $4000 and when I tried to book the cruise, the pandemic hit so it had to be delayed. I complied with everything they asked, and waited for them to confirm 'recovery of the certificate' so I could re-book. Instead, I got an e-mail that they had 'changed the rules' and could not re-issue the certificate!!! Changed the rules?? What BS is that? They stole $4000 from me by 'changing the rules' after the fact. What a scam and a con. I am retired and run a foundation for wounded vets and I take no salary, so losing $4000 is a HUGE hit. Shame on RCI for participating in this fraud.
Additionally, I traded a time share week with them that is a high week, and when I tried to book a different resort, all they offered was Mexico. NONE of the places I wanted were available.
I will never use them again and I advise you to avoid-avoid-avoid.

I am joining the 88% who have rated…
I am joining the 88% who have rated this company as "terrible". Over the past week or so I have spoken to several different vacation "experts" at RCI to attempt to resolve an ongoing issue about how the goofy points system works, or doesn't work as in my case. I own a week 52 which every 6 or 7 years I am suppose to get an extra week 53 which is suppose to be tradable within the points system. I spoke to an RCI agent because there was some confusion whether this years week 53 had been credited. I was told by the arrogant agent no you don't have credit for this so you don't get any points for it. Since he was getting somewhat irritated by my questions as to how this happened I requested to speak with either a supervisor or anyone in mgt. who could help me. So what did he do, he forwarded my call directly to my resort office. My home resort office was baffled by this move and had no idea as to why this RCI guy did this. So now my home resort is attempting on my behalf to get with RCI and figure out what's going on with this week 53 situation. I have been with RCI for over 30 years and every time I have dealt with them lately it gets more ridiculous. I'm going to start looking for another trading company because at my age I don't need the aggravation of dealing with a bunch of unprofessional employees. I read many of the remarks on this site and it's very obvious that this company is totally out of control and a class action movement should be taken to wake the management people!
I just can't stand this aggravation

Website Too Glitchy
Every time I've tried to plan out my next vacation on RCI, searching anything takes minutes to load, and sometimes it freezes up on me entirely.

We have been a member of RCI for more…
We have been a member of RCI for more then 20 years, but this will be our last. We were planning a family vacation through RCI to Colorado. The person that booked our stay entered it for 2023. Now we have 10 people with plane tickets and nowhere to stay. RCI has failed to make this right. They even have recorded conversations that never mentioned 2023. Loyalty to the customer, customer service and integrity are terrible.

Worst Company to Deal With, Ever!
This company nickles and dimes you for EVERYTHING! If you have extra points to use from the previous year, they make you pay $143.00 to combine your points from last year and for your current years points, then they make you pay an exchange fee for $269.00! This is on top of having to pay your maintenance fees to the resorts, plus paying a yearly "subscription" to belong to RCI. I booked a 2 bedroom unit in Florida for next year and did it just last week. I really needed a 3 bedroom so I cancelled my 2 bedroom and went to book the 3 bedroom. They are making me pay another exchange fee of $269.00 because I cancelled the 2 bedroom as you only have 24 hours to cancel a vacation which I did not know. I could see if I did it 30 days later or more, but it's been 1 week. Next year is my last year using RCI as I will never use them again and advise anyone else not to use them either. I will just go to my home resort from now on.

Don,t expect favours
My wife booked 4 weeks early this year but omitted to take out protection ( more money) ,but now we find we are unable to use them due to family circumstances and RCI will not offer to do anything not even when I offered money to do so, not interested, what a good club! Time to not be a member anymore.

RCI is an absolute disaster
RCI is an absolute disaster - DO NOT BUY A TIMESHARE AND STAY AWAY FROM RCI.
Let me tell you, we have been a timeshare owner for many years and RCI does a poor job of providing a reputable trade. The resorts that we trade into are less than desirable and they consume too many points. We are being charged too much for an exchange fee, yearly membership, and we need to book well in advance. I have found that RCI reviews and classifications (gold, silver, international, etc.) are not accurate. We have just recently stayed at Suntide, Sarasota, FL which was an absolute disgrace and we exchanged for 27 or 29 points! The resort was old and outdated, not clean, disgusting appliances, dirty dismal bathrooms, no internet, dirty pool, and blinds that you couldn't open. I cannot say our experience was at all desirable and we tried to stay out of our condo as much as possible since it was so dreary and depressing. This timeshare and many others we stayed at should not be part of RCI. This is not what we expected. Stay away from timeshares and RCI!!!

RCI is seriously lacking.
This company has continued to get worse over the past 10 years with less points given (I used to have 2 weeks). Now with the points they give me I can barely get one week and the options aren't ever my first or second choice. Recently booked a hotel through them was advertised as a king suite and was a queen regular room. Each person you talk to will tell you something different. I will be looking for a different exchange company.

The absolute worse. Had our checkout date wrong. Removed all our stuff from the room. Stole all our stuff. Long story short, resort admitted belongings were stolen and wrote us a check for the theft. Vacation Village Orlando.
Another stay had our checkout date three days earlier than on reservation online. Had to call and verify confirmation or they were going to remove our stuff. Not to mention our room had cockroaches.
This company is fraud. Living in a third would country environment with RCI. Disappointment.

We own two weeks at our resort but have two weeks banked giving us 40 points which is due to expire at the end of Sept, however due to the wife being diagnosed with a severe kidney disease in last 2 months and on dialysis we are unable to holiday abroad (Consultant advise) one which Easyjet took notice of and gave a refund. However, all you seem to want to do is for us to pay extra to extend our use of the 40 points, although you don't have anything in the UK.

horrible experience
I booked this on 6.7.22. I called Club Wyndham on 8/2/22, 2 days prior to departing on an 18 hour drive, to confirm my reservation to find out Wyndham did not have my reservation. I contacted RCI the next morning and spoke with Kevin who stated he would resend the booking. I followed up with Wyndham 2 hours after that to find that there was still no reservation. I was able to get a wyndham staff member to stay on the phone with me while we called RCI to get the issue resolved. We spoke with an RCI rep(I believe his name was connor). He spoke fast with a thick accent and thoroughly enjoyed talking over myself and the wyndham rep. Connor proceeded to tell us that he would resend the reservation and I requested that he email it to the wyndham rep directly as it has already been faxed twice and wyndham had not received it. Connor refused to do this stating it was against RCI policy to email it and could only fax it to the number on file. Absolutely ridiculous customer service! How is faxing your only option for this transmission? You had no issues emailing me a confirmation. In the end I worked with Wyndham without any further assistance from RCI to get the issue resolved. Get your house in order RCI!!!!

**THIS IS A SCAM STAY AWAY!!**
My family and I were aggressively approached by one of their sales rep in mall of Istanbul by one of their sales rep. He somehow managed to convinced us (I say us about I really blame my partner) a free meal on cruise and a all round 3 trip/tour to an island where a ‘new hotel’ was apparently being built. Cut a long story short, their sales pitch was the following:
1. Lure people into a fake cruise 🚢 which circles the river for 3+ hours with no entertainment for the kids, no food and only water and tea
2. Whereby their sales rep’s apply their utmost intense pressure and harassing tactics as well as terrorising you of all the useless and fake benefits they provide you with this absolutely ridiculous scheme they have in place!
Although I travelled over 5,000 miles across the world to spend my Saturday night in Istanbul held captive on a circling cruise ship to this company, only positive was I saved £100 on an actual cruise trip!!
Be careful… my partner and I are usually good on identifying scam and stupid sales advertisement, as we all know nothing comes for free…
The whole thing is a scam and especially after reading other peoples reviews

Poor Customer Service
I was part of a group of friends who booked a trip with RCI Vacations.
The trip was canceled 3 times due to restrictions placed by Canada in 2020 and twice in 2021. Each time I contacted them to rebook it cost more and the perks given to encourage us to book with them disappeared. With all we paid and had refunded I asked for a detailed balance sheet showing payments and credits. I did receive a balance sheet, but it was for someone else. Wrong name, City, State, destination, and the date of the vacation was not even close. I emailed them and never received a reply. Phone calls are useless and you have hours(8.5 or more) to waste on hold. I would not consider using RCI unless things change.
I think that I will mail the account balance sheet to the other guy. Just maybe he received mine since I can't trust that RCI will ever get it sent to me.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I called regarding my upcoming vacation status and regarding my points. He was not a good listener, he didn't answer my questions but had enough intelligence to remind me my subscription was due next month. He was suppose to send me a link to answer one of my questions and I never received it. I told him that I didn't know if I was going to renew because RCI has bad customer service. I had to repeat to him twice that I didn't want RCI to ever call me. TERRIBLE SERVICE!

The good the bad and the ugly…accommodations comparable to a Knight Inn
July 2022 My husband and I are timeshare owners through bluegreen. When bluegreen units are unavailable or units cost a ridiculous amount of points, members can either forfeit their points that expire or pay the exchange company RCI $89 dollars per transaction to exchange accommodations. Upon check in you also have to pay a hefty cleaning fee or amenities fee from the company your accommodations are with when you use the RCI exchange. This is a fee that is charged to only to Those who use the exchange.
This was our first experience exchanging through RCI. The customer service person I spoke to was very pleasant and helpful and had nothing to do with the extra fees or the accommodations that RCI is affiliated with for exchange. However somebody with the company does control these thing.
We were able to find a nice 1 bedroom condo 10 hours away in Massanutten Virginia for 3 nights and it cost us most of our 7000 points. We had to pay an RCI $89 transaction fee to exchange through RCI and upon arrival pay an amenities fee of $60 for our accommodations. This is on top of already paying15,000 dollars for 7000 points purchase in the timeshare agreement that is allows is every other year. We are billed a yearly maintenance fee every year of $780 even though we can only use a location every other year and this fee goes up every year at Bluegreen’s discretion. At the time of sale the Blugreen salesman makes you think that the perks of RCI exchange is golden.
The accommodations in Massanutten we’re very nice in comparison with where we stay in Michigan at Boyne mountain with out those extra fees.
However, We had more points that were going to expire this month so we booked a night at a place in Du Bois Pennsylvania heading back toward Michigan. The location was a townhouse at Silverwoods the townhouse did not come close in comparison to other locations I have stayed in. Beside the fact it was bigger, it was comparable to a bottom of the line Knights Inn Hotel and smelled like one too. It was musty and dirty smelling lodging. The area was nice if you enjoy nature and there is a good size lake, clubhouse, and pool. However the lodging was unacceptable for what a timeshare represents.
Shared timeshares are expensive to purchase and have yearly maintenance fees that have to be paid EVERY year even if you only have points that give you access to accommodations every other year.
This experience with RCI exchange had a disappointing end to our much needed vacation.
Beware of how the whole process works. When a person is getting the sales pitch, these nice guys are paid to make it appealing Extraordinary and the information is not presented for people to process and weigh all the options. You really have to take time to stop and understand the the process and the cost of all the fees and the biggest issue of the availability of the locations. If you are unable to make accommodations months and months ahead you most like will alway have to go through an exchange program like RCI.
We have found that we are not saving money for accommodations with the starting package we purchased We are waisting our money. There are much better deals in the traveling world and so many more choices not being locked into a timeshare at the package level we chose.

RCI company best COMPANY ever
Happy to be part of this company and earning massively well from the company as well.
I hereby advise you to forget about evil plotters trying to pull the company away .
I hate this company everytime we have…
I hate this company everytime we have tried to book our vacation we have gotten the run around. The information provided my agent are confusing and contradictory. I hate the day we got with them. I'm so frustrated that I feel like just taking the loss and ending my time share. Had I researched them I would have never signed my agreement.
