Bus Lane Penalties

I am writing this in the hope to officially complain about how my daughter is trying to pay for penalties for driving on bus lanes. I accept she was wrong to drive on the bus lanes. However, the fines she received were of a completely irrational amount, beyond comprehension. I can make you aware why. The first two letters apparently showing a reasonable and fair amount to pay, the two £30 fines, they were not received. Whether they were sent at all is questionable? In any case, they refuse to acknowledge my daughter did not receive the first letters and the simple request from me, to provide a proof of postage was neither taken into consideration. They are also refusing to send us copies of the letters.

Next, on receipt of letters from the bailiffs, The Cder group, asking for payments totalling £379, I cannot begin to say how disgraceful and unfair this is of Reading Borough Council. Not only has this caused an immense amount of pressure to my daughter, but to me, her mother as well.

I guess they think this is acceptable treatment, the council is correct in issuing fines over 6 times more than the original ones? Without having even given the benefit of the doubt as to whether the council was at fault for not sending the first letters or the delivery company was not successful in sending the mail?

I am very unhappy with Reading Borough Council. On trying to pay, my daughter has been told by Cder group that it is impossible, it no longer has nothing to do with them but with Reading Borough Council. How ironic. Then, on calling the council, she has had the phone put down on her. Do you realise how unfair this is? It is like a vicious circle. A never ending problem.

An absolute disgrace

I am leaving my review here on the Reading page as I cannot find the page to review Slough Borough Council as I have been complaining to them about somebody illegally renting out his outbuilding at the end of his garden for years, there is no evidence of him having authorisation to use as a dwelling but has been doing so for at least 6-7 years with his tenants trespassing over my land and yet nothing has been done to stop this man renting out and not declaring the rent he is receiving - it is no wonder SBC is bankrupt. Recently this man criminally damaged my property and the Police were involved who dropped the case because this man now lives in Wolverhampton and has been ignoring all communications with Police and my Solicitor, wouldn't surprise me if he is ignoring the Council too. I also emailed my local MP who has also done nothing to assist me getting this man bang to rights. Slough has nobody in authority doing their jobs properly, it is an absolute sham with people doing what they want when they want including breaking the law. I for one will not be voting in local elections but will begrudgingly continue to pay extortionate council tax for nothing!!!!! Fix up SBC, Slough Police and politicians you are all a disgrace.

I have been continuously plagued by the antics from the neighbour in the flat above me who runs around his flat like a deranged elephant with heavy shoes on and is continuously moving furniture around and shrieking. The response from one Green Party Councillor was to buy him a pair of slippers and the Anti Social Behaviour department response was equally useless some young idiot telling me to use the noise app which is useless and that I had to expect day to day noise when living in a flat without even checking out the noise and despite the previous tenant of my flat having to complain about this person, The last 9 months I have been forced to go to my daughters on a daily basis to get some peace because the man has an OCD/AHD problem which he virtually admitted to me and should be on medication and I have to pay rent on a flat I cannot enjoy in peace.

A disgraceful and corrupt council

I can't even get through to them on the phone. Even when you reach position one they never answer. They can't even run garden waste collectoon properly. They have destroyed Reading market by putting it out to cowboys, I suspect for a bribe. They are a disgrace.

Stupid people working In Reading Council

I ordered an green bin on 24 of July and I paid the full amount of £117 from the beginning. On the council website the waiting time is 4 weeks. So I waited 4 weeks and nothing, I didn't received the green bin. So I called again and the lady told me to wait that I will be updated by email when I will get the bin. It passed other 2 weeks and I calld again and the lady that answered (her name is Rosie), told me that I have to wait other 4 weeks because the council website is not updated and actually the waiting time in 8-10 weeks. So now I have to wait other 4 weeks for a f.cking green bin because they are not able to provide clear information to the people. Now, I have a lot of green rubbish from my garden and also I have to wait for my money until they wil sort out a delivery or a refund.

Overpaid council tax, no refund seen.

I overpaid the council tax, they told me they need to close the account and refund the money which would take 4-6 weeks since I've let them know I'm moving, It's been almost 6 weeks and they haven't done anything, not 1 single follow-up.
Well done! 👎

Low ropes activity centre ranger station prospect park

I attended the ranger station at prospect park with my granddaughter for a low ropes session ,I am a powerchair user and found that although some adaptions for the disabled had been made, there still could be more to make accessing the centre and getting around it much easier , the main entrance door needs to be automated and other doors leading to the lift for the new cafe and for the disabled toilet and the layout of the low ropes could do with a bit of replanning as I was only able to stay in contact with my.granddaught from the outside of the rope area and staff had to help her when I couldn't I suggest also that perhaps a surblvey could be carried out with volunteer wheelchair users snd other disabled people to help better plan the accessibility of all activities making it as inclusive to all as much as possible

Calling them is near impossible. Most of the options to choose on the automatic call bot hang up at the end (even if the option has not helped me). Their website is terrible.

Parking charge against person with a disability whilst trying to park

This deserves 0 stars. I am a blue badge holder and have restricted mobility. This means it takes me more manoeuvres and time to get into a parking space.
I have received a parking charge whilst trying to park in the bay on Wokingham road. This is disgraceful. I was in the car with my headlights on and the car behind was manoeuvring out. The car was not stationary because I was trying to park.

PCN dispute rejected twice

If I could give zero I would as 1 star seems generous. I’ve recently had to deal with the council over a PCN that I deem to be unfair, having received a fine for parking on kings road, I paid for parking using the app, the app displayed Abbey Street as the closest parking to my location and so I selected and paid for this option. I believe I have grounds for this fine to be squashed. However the council have been unreasonable, rude and completely oblivious of any humanity during this process. Having read other reviews, I’m not surprised as this council seems to have little regard for its citizens

Total disregard for local citizens

The Councils lack of traffic management gets even more farcical. Impossible to get to Spencer’s Wood from town this afternoon because traffic coming off the closed M4 motorway at Junction 11 is totally blocking the roundabout. This is a regular occurrence on a Sunday. Do the council’s officers simply not care about the people they purport to represent?
