warning to people thinking of having this roofer to fix your roof.
I excepted a quotation from roofing firm Reigate Roofing Ltd £2.600. in 23 June 2025 to replace my flat garage roof and porch. I choose him for his convincing talk about how he would use triple felt system and quality materials.
However, midway through, he claimed I had asbestos under the old felt, which would require specialist removal this over double the original price additional £3.000. Concerned I reluctantly agreed to pay more due to poor weather the fact the roof was exposed .
I became suspicious because the asbestos was removed without protective gear and no specialist treatment he claimed needed.
When I looked he did not replace the outlet drainage as initially I said needed .
I later researched and found the material was wood wool boarding, not asbestos. Despite challenges, the roofer he only reduced the bill by £900 . I paid the extra cost as roofer threat me with CCJ.
I still have not received written guarantee I was promises.
On 31 july 2025 is when it started to rain the water pouring in one of the three outlets he didn’t replace. the ceiling fell in the room below.
After no joy I mentioning contacting checkatrade he came out and bodged up a fix with a bit of wire and silicone and paid for plasterboard.
Oven the next month September 2025 second leak in the porch water pouring in water outlet not replaced near electrical consumer unit.
Again After mentioning I would contacting checkatrade he sent one of his workmen. I was shocked to see him use a off-cut peace of felt to repair the outlet drain by scrapping tar off with a heat torch to fix a srape of felt in the outlet drain . I tried to say he should have a pot of repair tar to fix it . I was horrified at how he was fixing the roof . This is when I called Checkertrade a enough s enough
I reached out to Checkatrade. They surveyed the roof and confirmed poor workmanship. Thanks to their intervention, I received a £1,000 Checkatrade Guarantee. This support helped me manage to towords fixing the roof.
