My last few purchases have been with Guitarguitar and Anderton, both of whom are spot on. Saw a PRS Tonare P20E on Rich Tone site, and did a nice trade in. All aspects excellent, I have a new supplier... See more

Traded in a 12 string for a Fretless bass. Fair prices for both and the whole process was fairly painless. Would use again.
Selling gear to richtone music was easy. I am 74 and found no problems. They arranged collection and money was in the bank next day. Staff very helpful. 5star. Thankyou.
I recently purchased an excellent used classical guitar from Richtone music. The staff were both attentive but also allowed me plenty of time to assess several guitars. I was plesently surprised with grade trade value for another item and was given a good used case to take the guitar home. I highly recommend this excellent store with highly knowledgeable staff.
Sold a variety of guitars with Rich Tone and the process was really easy. An accurate and fair price was quoted online within hours and when I took them to Sheffield, I was treated with courtesy and professionalism. By the time I had driven home to Bradford the money was in my account. Excellent experience, highly recommended.
I’ve used this shop for years and years.Always helpful and knowledgeable staff on hand to show a great selection of new and used gear. Thoroughly recommend, show a a better shop!?
Always a great experience. Keep coming back regularly despite no longer living in Sheffield.
I got a few comparative quotes to sell a load of guitar gear. Rich Tone gave me the best price. I chose to drive up rather than post everything. The staff in the shop were expecting me, friendly, efficient, and honoured the prices they'd quoted. I highly recommend them. And the shop itself has an amazing range of stock.
Deeply disappointing experience – I cannot recommend Rich Tone for part exchanges
Between 2020 and 2024 I lived in and around Sheffield and purchased a number of musical instruments from Rich Tone. Because of those previous positive experiences, I deliberately chose to travel over two hours each way from Burnley to buy from Rich Tone again. I wanted to support an independent music retailer that I had trusted in the past rather than simply buying from another large online retailer.
Unfortunately, this experience has tarnished my entire perception of Rich Tone.
I travelled to Rich Tone specifically to part exchange my Fender Rumble Stage 800 (including the optional MGT-4 footswitch) and my Ibanez Talman TMB30 against a used Vox AC30CH.
My initial part-exchange offer was £430 (£330 for the Fender and £100 for the Ibanez). After numerous emails involving several different members of the Rich Tone team, my genuine understanding was that my part-exchange value had increased to £470 and that the Vox AC30CH had also been reduced to £470, resulting in a straight swap.
Whether my understanding was incorrect or the communication simply wasn’t clear, I honestly don’t know. What I do know is that after driving over two hours to the shop, I discovered we were apparently not talking about the same deal and I found myself negotiating everything all over again.
That simply should not happen after so many emails involving multiple members of staff.
During the discussions I was also told that Rich Tone generally works on paying around two-thirds of what they expect to retail an item for, and that my Fender Rumble Stage 800 would retail for around £500, which was used to justify the valuation I was being offered.
While trying to locate the relevant email thread on my phone, I asked whether, if I found the agreed figures after payment, any difference could simply be refunded. I was told that if I wanted any refund, I would have to return to the shop. Having already driven over two hours from Burnley, that would have meant another four-hour round trip.
At that stage, after investing the time, fuel and effort to get there, I felt I had little realistic choice but to complete the transaction rather than walk away.
The entire experience felt more like negotiating in a car showroom than dealing with a specialist music retailer. Staff repeatedly disappeared to “speak to management” before returning with revised positions. When a member of management eventually became involved, I found him dismissive, unhelpful and unnecessarily confrontational. Rather than trying to resolve the confusion, I was made to feel as though Rich Tone had somehow done me a favour simply by holding the Vox for me, despite the deal only having been discussed the previous day and me arriving promptly the following afternoon as arranged.
The final disappointment came afterwards.
I discovered my actual Fender Rumble Stage 800 advertised by Rich Tone for £599.
During the negotiations I had been told that it would retail for around £500, and that this figure justified the trade-in valuation I had been offered. Seeing it advertised for almost 20% more completely destroyed my confidence in the explanation I had been given and left me questioning the transparency of the entire valuation process.
What should have been an exciting purchase became one of the most disappointing retail experiences I have had. Instead of driving home excited about my new amplifier, I drove home feeling frustrated, undervalued and questioning whether I had been treated fairly.
Unfortunately, this single experience has undone years of goodwill. What should have been another enjoyable purchase has instead overshadowed every positive experience I had with Rich Tone between 2020 and 2024. The trust and confidence I had built up through previous purchases has been replaced by disappointment and a complete lack of confidence in Rich Tone’s part-exchange process.
I will not be using Rich Tone again and cannot recommend them based on my experience. My advice to anyone considering a part exchange is simple: obtain independent valuations, insist that every agreed figure is confirmed in one clear email before travelling, and don’t assume that what you believe has been agreed is what will happen when you arrive.

I sold a guitar and a cab to Rich Tone Music. The gave a very fair price (I got quotes from several other dealers and Rich Tone offer significantly more than the others. They organised collection of of the items and it all went smoothly. I received payment within 24 hours of the items being collected. Very happy with the service and would definitely use again.
Very easy to deal with I traded a fender acoustic for an epiphone Les Paul , very pleased with it
I sold my Martin acoustic to Richtone recently. I made contact with the team by email for a quote - which I thought was more than fair. The staff we super helpful! They arranged for a courier to collect the guitar the next day, and stayed in touch throughout the whole process. Less than 24 hours after the guitar was collected, the quoted money was in my account!
It’s such a fantastic service - and wish I’d tried it sooner, rather than listing it on various sites and waiting for buyers who haggle and haggle….
All in all, a real eye opener in just how easy and quick it can be to sell guitar and music gear.
Well done Richtone!
Fantastic professional service from all the guys. Highly recommended
The people at Rich Tone were very helpful when dealing with them recently.
They offered a fair valuation and were open and honest about the items I wished to dispose of. The prices offered were acceptable on a range of equipment.
The shop is brilliant and very well stocked! However, being left handed, I was unable to spend my new wealth with them on that occasion.
I have both traded and purchased new guitars from Rich Tone and find above anything else a personal touch when dealing with their very helpful staff. On comparisons with competitors online their trade-in offers are very fair and both their used and new guitar prices are extremely competitive. Also, the courier rates seem much cheaper than others, so they probably do not add on unfair extras! Great bunch, try them out, you will be nicely surprised by their great service and prompt responses to any questions ... Tim (Cardiff, Wales).
Sold a guitar via Rich Tone. Very easy experience and money was transferred very quickly. Found staff very knowledgeable.
Used Richtone several times now, always great friendly and professional service. Fast response to emails, fair prices and if selling gear to them they give you the price they will give to you and the price they will then sell it at.
Will be using them again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend
Rich Tone was a really great place to sell my amp. They took great care to make sure I felt good about the whole experience. Well done!
I have sold several guitars to Rich Tone Music and each and every transaction has been trouble free. Excellent customer service, prompt payment and very fair prices paid.
The courier service is first class.
Highly recommended.
