I’m off sick and wanted to join RMT to get help with returning to work but they refuse to help. Small wonder less and less young people join these money grabbing unions.

Unlike many of the complainants on this site, I fully support the RMT and any other union that is prepared to take on bad employers. I admire the RMT because they organize and defend their members properly. Up The Workers. There is power in a union.

RMT MATTERS

I work for London Underground and contrary to what a lot of people have stated our fight here on the tube is not about money but rather about the terms and conditions that have been fought so hard for in the past by the unions, conditions that ensure the safety of not just the staff that work on this expansive network but also the traveling public. There are conditions we don't want to change.
The RMT fights for staff numbers not to be slashed so we are there to assist and provide a first-class service to all our customers
The fight against our pensions is another thing that we don't want to be altered.
Work-life balance, and enough rest between safety-critical shifts, are the type of things for which the RMT fights.

The strikes meant that I had to sit on…

The strikes meant that I had to sit on my backside and miss work and mess around my mother and girlfriend and I'm out of pocket by 32 quid for train journeys not made that I couldn't get a refund on.

Other people were crammed into trains to the extent that if there was an accident, there would certainly be fatalities.

This is the result of actions taken by this far left bunch of troublemakers who make more than most of us and think that they're entitled to be protected from the Russian/COVID-induced cost of living crisis at the expense of the public.

Anyone getting involved in these politically motivated strikes should be sacked - as I would be had I failed to tum up to work without good reason. Union members should not be treated differently.

My 16 year old daughter is stuck in London thanks to unplanned 'industrial action'.

I earn less than your fat salary packets. You are just using your position to make your extremely generous salaries even more generous. £60k to drive a train is way more than you deserve. I WISH I could earn so much. I employ 20 staff and am actually making something that is exported and earns Britain money, but still cannot afford a salary anywhere near the inflated packets you guys earn.

Be assured I will vote for any party that will automate your jobs and ensure that the average person is not subjected to your blackmail.

I dislike the Tories but will NOT vote for labour because of your self-indulgent strike. Lib Dems or Greens are going to get my vote.

Absolute disgrace!

Absolute disgrace the RMT are holding the country to ransom, destroying businesses and lives. The train drivers and guards are already overpaid and get more money than my son a junior doctor and his wife a nurse who spent years of study and built up a substantial student loan. The offer on the table is already more than nurses have been offered. I don’t know why these people think they are so special and I hope that ultimately when rail fares go up in price (which they will) and people can no afford to travel by train that they lose their jobs. Lynch is paid over £94,000 pa + expenses and he’s not lost any penny in pay over this strike. I don’t know how these people sleep at night. I’ve heard of a man that was unable to travel to his own mothers funeral. A child in Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital that can’t get to London for treatment and several businesses that have gone bust because they were reliant on Christmas trade to survive.

Straying of the strike subject, but you didn't have this conviction when I needed assistance in the past, it's all when it suits, your members are on fantastic wages, as was I. Ridiculous.

Leading me to debts

Please stop these strikes, you have cost me £7000 of income since you have started, I am on my knees and have to work 3 jobs to barely put food on the table and pay the debts that you have created, I am a hiking leader and relly solely on public transports.Your strikers earn twice more than the other million of people affected do, you are pushing us to bankruptcy and depressions. Please stop this, trust me, you do not have the support of the population, I worked for a union as a rep for 5 year and you are disgusting me of unions. Think about the majority of the population for Christ sake!

I support the working class people like rail workers. I know that they worked hard even during the pandemic, but this union is not doing anything good for them and for the country. Not even NHS staff or teachers strike like that. Strikes are just going to cause misery to so many innocent people who don't deserve it. We are all facing challenges like the rising cost of living so we just need work together and get through this without disrupting each other lives.

You don't deserve more money.

Did you think about people with disabilities in your pathetic strike? Some people can't drive due to medical conditions. You don't deserve more money. You deserve less if anything.

Holiday Ruined thanks to RMT Strikes

Our entire holiday to Paris has been cancelled thanks to these arrogant, entitled brats holding our country to ransom. Will you pay us the £1500 you've cost us in hotel fees? Every single person taking part in these strikes deserves to be fired on the spot. I hope to dear God that Liz Truss and the Tories absolutely eviserate the unions. The sooner the better. The public do not support you!

Here we go again.

No need to amplify what previous posters have made abundantly clear. I think that now is the time to completely change how the whole system works. By doing that and, having private companies run the whole network. Richard Branson has done a pretty good job with how he runs things. Public held to ransom again. Feel sorry for the drivers who are also victims in this. They are not on strike.

Rail workers get real

Do the rail workers think they have been singled-out for an under inflation-rated pay rise and a hit to their pension? What is their average wage? Holding the country to ransom in the current climate is totally out of order. I have never agreed with strike action and my father was a shop steward in the lorry driving industry when he had to work a 60 hour week to make ends meet. That's the trouble with the UK today. We want something for nothing, which is why Asia has stolen all our business.

Mick Lynch is amazing

Mick Lynch is amazing.

I'm so sick of this government catastrophically failing at everything (no, they haven't got any big call right, Bozo is lying to you all) and blaming everyone else for their failings.

We need more Mick Lynch's in this world. If I had the chance to be in a union led by him I'd bite their hand off.

Please people stop believing whatever lies the billionaire owner's newspapers spout out, look at the actual evidence and think for yourselves. If Nurses and Teachers are using foodbanks how long until you are?

Misguided Public

I work on the railway and get paid £23k. I can't believe the government has brainwashed the general public into thinking we're the villains. Drivers are part of the ASLEF Union and aren't the ones striking. RMT represents ticket office staff, gate staff, cleaners and operatives on and off the rail. None of us are paid more than a base rate of £31k. Everyone needs to join a union and fight for better pay, no matter what job you are in. This is entirely the fault of the government who have got this country over a barrel. How else are we meant to kick-start real change, Facebook memes and slacktivism?
