Was overcrowded and I personally was kicked out on mistaken identity and bouncers were unwilling to listen to anything I would say! Escorted out by 4 bouncers with force for no reason at all! But maybe they were kicking out people for being overcrowded? Poor!!

The guards at the venue are raciest. The stopped me going in just because i am foreigner even though i have provide my id and ticket … This is unacceptable and i felt humiliated . Management should take strict action on it .

I’ve never felt so humiliated trying to go on a night out. I bought my ticket online for Rock City, showed up excited, and after showing my ID I was asked who I was with. When I said I came alone, the bouncers told me “no single males are allowed in tonight.”

What makes this worse is that I know there are nights when single males are allowed in — and that same night, I saw British men walk in on their own with no issue. For me, as a Romanian, I was turned away.

It felt like I was given an excuse, but the real reason was clear: I was treated differently because I am foreign. To pay for a ticket in good faith, only to be refused entry while others are let in, was humiliating and discriminatory.

This isn’t just poor customer service — it’s unfair and unacceptable. I left feeling embarrassed, angry, and unwelcome. Nobody should ever be treated like this.

A big guy with tattooes and the one near him refused my entry.

Horrible staff at the cloakroom especially a girl with brown hair and a bandana that feel a superiority complex over customers at the club and start arguments over nothing, unprovoked. Lack professionalism and should be fired. Ruined a fun experience with friends that could have been avoided by not initiating a conflict out of nowhere. Just wanted to get our coats back but the staff responded with aggression. The girl with brown hair and a bandana has a horrible attitude and acts extremely unprofessional. If you can’t interact with public properly please don’t work in a customer service role. Horrible horrible girl. Really disappointing that this is the sort of people that represent the venue as they leave a lasting bad impression on you. Not worth going back ever again as don’t want to be verbally attacked again while trying to simply leave and retrieve our coats. Staff needs to either be fired or trained how to interact with people as this sort of behaviour is out of order. Actually ridiculous to have this sort of conduct. Just do your job and give people their coats back without lashing out. If you’re having a bad day or hate your job that’s a personal issue. Don’t take it out on people that are simply trying to have a good time. Actually ridiculous. Never had another female be so disrespectful to me and try to start conflict out of nowhere. Even asked why she was talking that way to me but was told to move along and “lose the attitude” when I was simply just trying to get my coat and the employee was the one with the attitude. Lazy employees don’t want to do their job and would rather start arguments than actually do what is expected of them. It’s not hard to be polite and civil. Never had this sort of experience in any other club. Was really shocking and upsetting to have someone be so rude and dismissive especially when they are in charge of safe guarding your belongings. They don’t deserve this sort of responsibility and should honestly be fired. Avoid avoid avoid. There are better clubs out there with staff that are actually good people and have friendly interactions with customers.

Having racsims in club is not acceptable.

Travelled all the way from Newcastle to have the end of our trip given a dark cloud

Left Mr big gig after 4 songs ( not the first to leave), Mr Big sound awful; support Jared James Nicholls brilliant, wish they were the main act. Barstaff great, as were the staff in rescue rooms next door. Nothing to fault with Rock City.

Can we open the balcony and get a few places to park your bum ? Many Rockers are getting old now and standing for 5 hours with nowhere to put your pint down kind of sucks ….

Perfect little rocky venue for alternative music! It’s had all the greats play there! Very intimate and my only problem is that I’m short, so it’s hard to see, but that’s more my genetics haha! Will definitely be visiting again, I just wish I could take a time machine there!

I can only say those who complain about security have caused problems themselves

What a lovely bunch of guys on the doors for a Tuesday evening very helpful chatty and reassuring

Would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the blond haired woman on pit security for Skid Row who clearly loved herself more than the job and spent most her time trying to find any bloke to hug her instead of checking on the fans etc

Lady in next to me got kicked in the back by some idiot leaping around to the point she left 1/2 hour before the gig ended as she was in so much pain

This security woman clearly saw this lady was hurting and didn’t even say are you ok

Think she needs to look for a better job

I went to a night out tonight and had to deal with the rudest cloakroom employee (the manager) I’ve ever seen in my life.

I had a ticket to get my jacket. The cloakroom manager said it wasn’t enough, she needed my initials. I told her that no one asked for it when I gave my jacket. She insisted they did because they were trained for it. I insisted they didn’t (two times more) and she always said, “but they did”. The truth is, no one did when I went to the club (my friends were beside me and they saw that, plus, I was fully sober). I also told her I could show a 2015 picture wearing that jacket she said she didn’t care. As if that wasn’t enough I was called “rude” by her even though I was not, not even for a second. I was just stressed and upset by the situation and the way she was handling it.

Not being believed and having to deal with someone who treated me like piece of s*it was awful. I cried the whole way back home and I was lucky enough my friend managed to deal with the situation while I was about to cry and couldn’t handle myself. RUINED MY EVENING. I’m extremely disappointed. It was on the rebel rebel night (a bit before 3am). Don’t recommend going there at all, unless you don’t mind crying on your way back home.

Sadly, a really bad experience.
The actual club was fun but one bouncer was just wanted to ruin our night. We were enjoying ourselves after entry but got lost trying to find the smoking area.

One of the security guards clearly gave us the wrong directions as we were sent to a fire exit, but that was probably our bad for believing it. Got sent out for using this exit and were told to pay a rentry fee in a very aggressive manner by a bouncer who refused to give his name. Tried to explain it was a bit unfair since we were a bit lost but relented to paying the rentry.

As we didn't want this to ruin our night, we went to queue up for rentry, and went to pay to a lady at the cash register. Same bouncer who told us to pay, aggressively yanks my male friend out whilst shouting what we were doing here, despite my friend trying to explain and him being the one to tell us to pay rentry?!

Due to his extreme actions, we were all quite scared and angry with his behaviour because he thought it was ok to treat the only man in our group like this but if he did the same to one of us girls, there would be quite the uproar.

Tried to explain this to another bouncer present who was quite calm but clearly didn't want to resolve the issue.

The bouncer who caused all these problems started videoing us without consent, openly insulting me and my friends when we tried to explain that it's not nice to be treated in such an aggressive manner
calling us 'clowns' and 'uneducated.'

Clearly thought he wouldn't get into any trouble and is a bit too passionate about his job.
