RockAuto used to be one of the best…

RockAuto used to be one of the best online parts houses in the country. You could talk to a knowledgeable customer service rep A
and they were very helpful. That is necessary in the auto parts business. I don't know if they sold out or what, but since they quit having a customer service helpline or somebody to talk to, I haven't ordered anything. I'm sure their sales have declined extensively since they stopped having customer service reps. That's too bad.

My experience was seamless

My experience was seamless. The Bosch rebuilt alternator order arrived in excellent packing condition ( which may have come from Parts Authority in N.Y.) and the core return was faster and easier than I thought. Credit to my cc was immediate and Bosch offered me a two year limited warranty as well ( from their website using the Rock Auto purchasing name. Job well done.

FedEx marked my RockAuto order as…

FedEx marked my RockAuto order as delivered, but the delivery photo shows it left unattended in an unsecured location. The package was never received.
RockAuto refused to issue a refund or replacement and instead told me to file a police report and contact my “insurance,” without explaining what insurance they mean. This was a standard online purchase with no shipping insurance disclosed.
They chose the carrier and delivery method, then took zero responsibility when it failed. If something goes wrong with delivery, don’t expect RockAuto to help.

Stay away from them

Stay away from them. I ordered a braking kit and they sent me something completely different, wrong sizes and even a different braking system. I only got a partial refund and their refund system on the website barely works. I wasted my money and a lot of time dealing with this.

IT ONLY GETS WORSE

IT ONLY GETS WORSE. I LEFT A BAD REVIEW FOR THEM ALLOWING PARTS TO LEAVE THEIR WAREHOUSE AFTER KNOWING I WAS CONTESTING THE PURCHASE. I CAUGHT IT WHEN THEY STILL HAD TIME TO STOP IT. THE REFUSED AND THEN I ASKED THEM TO AT LEAST HAVE IT SENT TO MY REAL HOME IN A WHOLE DIFFERENT STATE SO I COULD AT LEAST HAVE SOMETHING FOR THE VIOLATION AND HOPEFULL THEY THIEVES WOULD CALL THEM AND COMPLAIN SO THE DEPUTY INVESTIGATING IT ON MY END HERE MIGHT HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF CATCHING THEM. I PUT IN A COMPLAINT TO THE BBB AND THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA WHY I WOULD ASK FOR AN ADDRESS CHANGE IF I DID NOT ACTUALLY BUY THE PARTS MYSELF ON PURPOSE. BEWARE. THEY NOT ONLY TAKE STOLEN MONEY BUT THEY WILL CALL YOU A LIAR AND IMPLY YOU'RE THE ONE DOING WRONG. I'M A DISABLED STAGE 4 CANCER PATIENT HALFWAY ACROSS THE NATION FROM WHERE THE PARTS WENT. I'VE NEVER DONE BUSINESS WITH THEM AND IF YOU'RE EVER IN A JAM THERE ARE NO HUMANS ON THE PHONE TO TALK TO. ONLY THROUGH EMAIL.. BUT THEY WILL CLOSE THE TICKET AND BLOCK YOU WHEN THEY'VE HAD THEIR SAY. THEIR LOVE OF MONEY OVER HUMANS WILL COST THEM IN THE AFTERLIFE SOMEDAY. GOD IS REAL AND THEY WILL BE SORRY THEY DID EVIL TO ME. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THEY'RE WORSE THAN THE THIEF.

The parts they sell are crap

The parts they sell are crap. I purchased a Delphi fuel pump from them. It failed shortly after 30 day warranty and has no manufacturer warranty. They have NO customer service to speak of - their subtle way of tell y'all to get f**ked. I am out the money and out the time too. I will not purchase anything from them EVER again.

Secondary Missile Impact and 1 Item completely ejected

Ordered brake parts for older vehicle and weight was tallied at 33 pounds. Items ordered were 2 wheel cylinders,1 master cylinder, 2 brake calipers, 2 brake rotors, and 2 sets of brake pads. The last item mentioned was the only container in the whole shipment that packaging was not burst from the inside from(internal) inertia impact which is also known as "secondary missile. " Shipper managed to place all in one cardboard box measuring about 12 inches square (cube.) One wheel cylinder apparently was lost somewhere along the way from San Bernadino Ca.to central Texas. The seller will probably blame the shipper, who will probably deny as not packed properly. I will try not to make the same mistake again. Seller Rockauto was contacted and after multiple click box options to respond, bot responded and will send missing wheel cylinder. I have no idea if any other parts were damaged and will not know until installation is made. As these items are under significant hydraulic pressure during normal operating situations, it gonna be a value that not be known until a later date. Therefore am SOL if other issues arise. Be forewarned. TLee

Counterfeit Parts!

Rock Auto has provided me with good options for aftermarket parts; however, recently I received counterfeit Moog wheel bearings. The manufacturer agreed with that the bearings were counterfeit based on the packaging and markings on the bearing. Unfortunately, Rock Auto refused to issue a refund or store credit for the items, rather they deflected and said items may be repackaged at times. I am out $190.00 for the bearings and decided to buy OEM bearings. Never will get parts for the shady reseller, Rock Auto.

Cross-Referenced Part #'s Are Meaningless (Beware)

Looked up the Porsche part I needed in the official Porsche catalog. Searched the part number on RockAuto to find alternatives to the OEM brand. Found 7 on the RockAuto website. Chose one and checked the part numbers cross-referenced to ensure they match Porsche's. They did. I ordered the part, and installed same day. Parts don't work. Defective. I try to get a refund or exchange so at least it works, RockAuto says it's my fault because I didn't also use their fitment tool to ensure it's not for the wrong car - why would I need to use your whatever tool, you have the cross-referenced part number on display to verify. Apparently part numbers are irrelevant on their website for reference. The fitment tool is wrong, it's the right friggin' part you fools. It's the same part across ALL 911's per the Porsche catalog. So, because their fitment tool is broken, they won't refund the full amount. Wild stuff. Don't support businesses that are wrong and refuse to admit it. It's bad business, bad juju.

Bought from them a couple times

Bought from them a couple times - never again. The parts are inexpensive compared to other sites but shipping is usually a problem. First order the online for said my items would arrive on the 9th, the confirmation email said it’d arrive in the 13th; it finally arrived on the 14th. This was misleading.
Second orde the online form and the confirmation email said my items would arrive in a couple days and they sent a fed ex tracking number. Tracking showed a label was printed but the item was never delivered/shipped. The only way to contact them is by filling out a form - no phone/no email/etc. I filled out the form that my items never arrived and it said to wait another week and if still not delivered come back to the page at that time. A week goes by (wasted time) and still no part delivered. I go back to the page and it allows me to get a refund. The refund was processed but I have wasted a lot of time. Ended up buying from somewhere else and will not use them in the future. It’s worth a few extra $$ to actually get your parts on time

Consistently good experiences with RockAuto

I have ordered from RockAuto at least 50 times for 10 different vehicles. I have had one wrong part, my own fault, and I didn't bother to return it so I can't speak to how that process might work. They give good authentic parts at a good price and ship fast. I'm here now writing this because I googled a way to leave praise for them...most recently I ordered a starter, brand new, for the same price or less money shipped than any local parts store (same part number in my case) and it got here in a day. Car is back up and running 1 day later! No driving to a store to be told they don't actually have it in stock despite what the website says.

I'm surprised to see the negative reviews are SO negative but I can understand if your car is broken and you're dealing with a mechanic.

For DIY knowledgeable folks, it seems pretty great.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE - HEADACHE GALORE - MONEY LOST

We use this as a last resort automotive part option as a busy shop, and recently were reminded why. They have absolutely no customer support and if you contact by email, they are still unhelpful. Don't bother paying extra for expedited shipping, it won't be expedited and they won't be accountable for it. Don't try to send parts back because you'll have to pay for shipping and then they will still deny your refund because you didn't do "something" right. All of the headache and extra costs might be worth a try IF they had some sort of care for their customers. They don't.

Broken shocks!

Ordered a kit to rebuild the front end wheel bearing, control arms, shocks and such. On less than 6months and both shocks broken after 1 pothole. 1 of them completely broke and separated and the other fell into two pcs when replaced with quality one from local autoparts. Must have original box to send back...who keeps that? NO MORE ROCKAUTO for me.

Shipping is a scam

So I been ordering from them for some years now and always got my packages on time. Recently I decided to pay for express shipping because I really needed the part quickly. I paid $18.99 for express shipping. Which should of had the items to me in two days. Never happened. So I called The shipper and asked why my package wasnt here yet I paid for express shipping. They told me even though I paid for it that Rockauto only requested a label for standard shipping. I requested my money back for shipping from rockauto amd they refused to give me my money back. Its been three days now amd still no package. Ill be calling my bank to dispute not recieving the shipping I was charged for. Never pay for express shipping of any kind from them because they will charge you and send it standard shipping.

I purchased several parts for my…

I purchased several parts for my 2001-2002 Mitsubishi Montero Limited. The part needed that I ordered was NTK TH078 which is a throttle position sensor. The part sent was NTK TH0189 which is also a throttle position sensor but not even an option for my model vehicle. So much not an option that it is NOT even in the part inventory for my vehicle. What makes me mad is, I had to pay shipping to get the wrong part and now I have to pay shipping to send the wrong part I did not order back. What also makes me mad is there is no customer service phone number to call and everything is done via internet. Extremely poor customer service. Makes me want to pay more somewhere else just for the customer service.

Return fees it's on customer most of the time

Used to buy parts from this website and on my first purchase they send me a used dusted and rusted brake pads that didn't even fit in my car so I had to return them ( added more time to wait to my schedule to get the right ones ) but the crazy thing is that most of the time when a part can't fit in my car I request a return they email me the shipping label and I have to pay the return fee it's ridiculous thing since it's their fault not mine they need to do better regarding these things honestly I've had bad experiences with them more than good ones
