Rocksteady Music School Reviews 

Three weeks in a row they've cancelled at the last minute. Kids left very disappointed. With Half Term it's been 5 weeks since the last lesson and yet they're happily billing me £45 per month.
Really gutted this has turned out to be such a mess. And today I have to deal with a sad/angry/confused son again.
Thanks a bunch. At least I'm paying handsomely for the privilege!!!

Our daughter has been taking part in Rocksteady for 2 years now. I like that she is working towards a qualification, that she builds confidence through lessons with other students and quarterly performances. Her band leader is Kostas who is very brilliant with the children, knows them all so well and has a great relationship with them, he keeps their confidence high when playing in front of the school.
I believe that Rocksteady is definitely more about team work, confidence building, learning to work together as a band vs your child solely learning a new instrument, due to there being 30 mins a week and a number of kids in each band, it isn’t really possible for them to
Progress with their instrument in the same way as a one to one would be, however, they do learn musical skills, it’s just at a slower pace due to the time for each lesson and the band setting.

We are really pleased with Kostas and rocksteady in general, and would highly recommend. We only ever had one instance in the past 2 years that Kostas couldn’t make a lesson and we were sent a video of a supply teacher that would be coming in his place so we could show our child before the lesson which was very handy. We have never had a lesson cancelled.
It’s great that it takes place in school time, they are never too tired/ it doesn’t eat into time at home etc, they are collected from lessons each week.

A couple of things that would make this even better-
Longer lessons, maybe 45min- 1 hour

One to one music sessions being available for a further cost to focus solely on the instrument learning, it would be so great as our children already have the relationship with the bandleader vs going externally for one to one lessons elsewhere.

We are very happy with Rocksteady Music School. My daughter absolutely loves the lessons and has discovered a real passion for playing the guitar. It’s amazing to see her confidence grow and how excited she is every time the lesson day comes.
I would highly recommend Rocksteady to other parents. It’s a great way for children to discover music and enjoy learning an instrument.

We’ve had such a positive experience with Rocksteady. My daughter absolutely loves the sessions and looks forward to them every week. She comes home excited to share what she’s been practising, and we’ve really noticed her confidence grow since joining. We would definitely recommend Rocksteady to other parents!

Lesson cancelled three weeks in a row and now the music teacher has left. Rocksteady unable to provide another teacher or offer any certainty as to when lessons will actually take place. All this whilst still happily taking £45 a month from me. An expensive shambles.

Our son throughly enjoys rocksteady with tutor Alfie and his confidence and self belief has excelled so much.

We highly recommend rocksteady to anyone whose children shows a love for music. They don’t even need to be confident with playing an instrument as they support all areas of learning.

This review is from the words of my 9 year old.... It is the greatest music thing ever, I really enjoy the concerts, rob my band leader is really good, he helps me and everyone else, I really look forward to seeing him on a Thursday morning, it makes me feel happy. Rob is the best (although we know he's called Robert)

Great for creativity, confidence and self-expression. Ali has taught my children for 5 years and is a brilliant role model

All 3 of my school aged children do rocksteady. Their teacher Ryan is incredible. Supportive in lessons andnin concerts. Will contact me if there are issues. He is very approachable and clearly loves his job. All 3 of my girls have grown in confidence and ability. The qualifications are a great perk as my girls earn them without realising. We love seeing their progress at the concerts.

Rocksteady is definitely my son’s favourite activity,he likes wednesdays only because of Rocksteady,since he joined the club he built up his confidence and not feeling shy anymore to perform in front of people.
Also the energy and passion of the band tutor Joe,he is brilliant!

My child loves Rocksteady, it is her favourite time of the school week. We started in year 1 and now in year 3, the confidence it has instilled in her is worth the money alone, but the joy and an actual qualification is a definite bonus. We've had two lovely band leaders in callum and Stuart who have incredible patience and very encouraging towards the children. I love seeing their quarterly shows and you the progress they are making. The cost is a bottle of wine a week, a single meal from macdonalds or a 5th of a private music lesson, however you work out your budgets make sure you include this in it, you and your child will not be disappointed

My sons confidence has come on leaps and bounds since joining and would highly recommend this!

My son absolutely loves his Rocksteady lessons. The tutor is very supportive and he has become so confident when playing a guitar. You are always kept up to date with what yoyr child is learning. Definitely recommend 👌

Our daughter is a keen singer, so even though £45 a month is a lot during the current financial climate, we agreed to lat Martha give it a go for at least a term and do a concert. She was also asked to join school choir since, which we also have to pay for. Together it is a lot to pay so asked our daughter which she would prefer and she said choir. We agreed we would cancel Rocksteady for now and re-enrol when Keyboard is available. We have a date for her concent based on the song she has been learning. The next payment for the whole of March is due to come out on 20th Feb. Her concert is on the 4th March. We were told that if we cancel now she will.nyo be able to perform in the concert she has been working on at a cost of £45 a month. Seems they have you over a barrel. She would be devastated to not perform, so we have had no choice but to pay an extra £45 just so she can perform in the concert that we won't even be able to attend as they re-arranged it for the day of her grandads funeral. We were going to re-enrol once keyboard became available, but this business is clearly all about the money rather than the kids so will not be enrolling her or any of our other children with Rocksteady.

Daz is absolutely amazing he is the best he gives so much energy and time to each child he works with 2 of my pupils who are SEN and wow what a difference he makes he includes them in everything and makes them shine not only is Daz amazing with the children our pupils but a total friendly guy to always has a warm welcome smile

I have paid £50 a month for two months with no lessons. Every week Rocksteady claim they will arrange a make-up lesson. No make-up lesson takes place and every week I receive another notification of another missed lesson. They refuse to refund me claiming my son will have 33 lessons by the end of the year despite being unable to confirm when lessons will start up again.

My children have absolutely loved Rocksteady. They have developed brand new skills, worked collaboratively as part of their bands and really enhanced their confidence and self belief. It’s been fantastic watching the little concerts that have been organised and how much my kids’ faces light up when they are on stage.

Just to let you know he hates Music lessons at school but LOVES Rocksteady with his band and your work for 2 years .

Absolutely terrible company- you are literally giving these people money and your child is getting minimal (if that) in return. They like to use their 'minimum lessons' clause to justify lost sessions and why they wont refund you, paying a massive sum for a 30minute lesson in a group setting. They wont refund you when the instructor is off, unless you persevere and even then its a shambles. This program and company is a rip off and schools are in my humble opinion foolish to employ them. In my case the leader logged my son present when he wasnt, and logged absent when in school, lied about certain situations in the summer term which resulted in my son being told he couldnt do the end of term performance as had not seen him all summer term, then changed his story when I challenged it all - i urge parents to claim back for missed or lost sessions especially if known absences like paternity leave have occured, you should have been refunded for thise.
