Product details

Brand: Roots Plants

An English variety, also known as 'Williams' Bon Chrétien', with large, yellow fruits which are very juicy and full of sweet, rich flavour. Tasty eaten fresh but one of the best for poaching, too. A strong, reliable cropper, 'Green Williams' is an early-cropping variety, producing its fruit from late August. With a max size of 4x4m, this tree is grafted onto a Quince A rootstock. Rootstocks restrict the size of a tree to make it better-suited for the average garden. Partially self-fertile (pollination group 3). This tree will fruit better when pollinated by another pear tree. Don't worry, in most areas there'll be a pear tree close enough to pollinate. Alternatively, you can always just plant another pear tree! Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch. Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth. Our mature trees are grown in Air-Pots®, the only type of pot to completely eliminate root circling. A unique design stimulates air pruning for a mass of healthy fibrous roots, which results in a healthy tree that will establish quickly in your garden. With each Air-Pot® made to last up to 20 years, we reuse them on the nursery and wrap your mature tree in hessian for delivery - but if you’d rather keep your tree potted, simply add an Air-Pot® to your basket along with your tree.

Again supplied as a replacement to a failed bare root plant from earlier in the year, which graft had failed. Tree was supplied as described and is in the ground and appears to be surviving well. Time will tell as its only been a couple of weeks.

Asleep when it arrived but hand no broked branches. I am going to try to train it - and its friends Elstar and Victoria as espaliers along my fench adjoining my neighbours who are not keen gardeners but enjoy what they can see of mine. Hopefully it will not be long before the children enjoy the fruits of my labour.

Complete gardening novice. Followed instructions to the letter (fruit tree planting vid) This was my favourite shaped tree on unboxing. Leaves don't seem to be doing too well though since planting (10 days in ground at time of review/pics) they look a bit brown, spotty & tatty.

No fruits yet, just small ones, hopefully is what I expected: sweet and juicy pears. Now the little tree is doing very well.
