Roundwood's home euthanasia service.

I have left 4 stars for this review - 2 each for Layla and Liz, who were both lovely at a very difficult time. The purpose of the review is to make people aware of Roundwood's charging and refund policy when arranging home euthanasia.
Our 18 year old cat had been declining for a few weeks and had reached a point on the evening of Thursday 29/01/26 where as a family we agreed he couldn't go on. I contacted Roundwood at 9am on the Friday and was offered a home euthanasia appointment for 12:00 that day, which I accepted and paid for during the call (£410).
Sadly, our cat passed away at 11:30. I called Roundwood within a few minutes of this to give the maximum possible notice of the appointment no longer being needed. I spoke to Liz and Layla at this time, and they were excellent.
The issue is that Roundwood's cancellation policy is unfairly loaded in their favour.
The clause in question applies if your pet passes away before the appointment. Roundwood ask for as much notice as possible. If the vet has not left to attend (1 hours notice) a full refund will be given. If no notice, or less than an hour's notice is given the full fee is charged. My cat passed away 30 minutes before the appointment time. I could not give an hour's notice.
I understand that if the vet has made part of the journey, some time and travel costs will have occurred, and I fully accept some payment will be due, but the full fee includes all of the vet's time, most of which was saved, and the cost of euthanasia drugs which were not used. I therefore believe taking the full amount under the stated circumstances, which I imagine aren't unheard of, should be reviewed.

Poppy

Dr Liz Munro came to our home on 6th November 2025 to euthanise our dearest dog Poppy. She was calm, kind and compassionate and talked us through the whole process. She gave Poppy a chocolate brownie to eat whilst administering the sedation and then Poppy very peacefully went to sleep. Dr Liz made clay paw prints, nose prints and gave us some fur clippings in a little phial in a gauze bag. Poppy was taken out on a stretcher, head on pillow, under a cosy blanket and we were able to kiss her goodbye whilst in the car. Although we were overcome with grief and sadness, Dr Liz made Poppy's passing respectful, peaceful and dignified. Thank you to the wonderful team at Roundwood.

A beautiful passing.

Dr Liz Munro made a very sad time a little easier. She was friendly, sympathetic and took the time to help my dear Sonny dog have a peaceful passing. She made prints of his nose and paw, made a cast of his paw print and gave me some clippings of his fur. She carried him out in a beautiful blanket and had made a little bed for him in her car and waited while I gave him one last kiss.

Uncaring, unprofessional, money grabbers

I adopted a stray cat & went to get a health check on her. He aged her at 6 yrs. They gave her a full bill of health, she was just underweight which was understandable being a stray & she needed dental treatment at £262, I have no idea how he came to this conclusion as she wouldn't let him look in her mouth, which wasn't surprising as he'd just had his finger up her backside with that hand 🙄 . I had to take her to an emergency vet
hospital today, they determined that she is WELL into her teens, she has fluid on her lungs & heart failure. I now have to explain to my 9 year old why her cat is laying there dying & all the heartache we are feeling.
This vet sees pound signs not beloved pets, purely monetary gain, they don't care at all.

This is the best vet I have used

This is the best vet I have used. They treat the animal holistically. It is not just the symptoms but the well being of the whole animal in the long term.

All the staff are kind and helpful. I have never felt rushed and they are in it to help animals not for ‘money’.

The fees are fair. This is an independent practice, not part of a chain. I have insurance for my animals like any sensible person should. They also have a club you can join for additional support and to spread the cost.

Their priority is profit

In this clinic, their priority is profit over animal well-being. Also the customer service is absolutely poor. I sent a complaint email to their manager, Nikki but never received a response. Won’t use them again.

Top marks

I've been bringing my labradoodle Buster here for almost a year now. I found it by asking a local fb group for recommendations and approx 50% suggested roundwood.
Firstly I am really impressed by the staff. Everyone is really friendly and knowledgeable. Buster always gets a warm welcome and he loves going there.
He recently had a colitis and it was dealt with professionally . I even had a follow up from the vet to check in. So Iwould definitely recommend this practice, they are fantastic.

All they are interested in is money

I have been a client of Roundwood Vets practice for nearly 5 years. Throughout this time, I have always relied on them for my pet's medication needs, never opting to purchase medication online. However, approximately a month ago, I sought their assistance in referring me to a different clinic for a cosmetic operation that my dog required. Although I did have a consultation with Roundwood Vets regarding this matter, I felt that the professional advice provided was inadequate, and no guarantees were offered.

Unfortunately, my dog encountered complications following the operation at the other clinic, necessitating the use of antibiotics. As the clinic where the surgery was performed was located outside of London, I was prescribed antibiotics, and the prescription was subsequently sent to Roundwood Vets, my primary veterinary clinic. Upon collecting the antibiotics, I was shocked to discover that I was being charged £100 for them. This seemed exorbitantly high to me, especially considering that I later learned the same antibiotics could be purchased online for a mere £1.40, providing five times the quantity I received. Essentially, I paid £100 for what would have cost me only £0.28 online.

Upon questioning the receptionist about the inflated price, I was informed that it was due to my dog's size and the strength of the medication. However, my dog only required 20 tablets of a common antibiotic. Additionally, the receptionist failed to mention that I had the option to purchase the medication online, despite my expressed concern about the price.

When I attempted to return the unopened medication for a refund upon discovering the actual cost, the receptionist refused to accept it, citing policy. The medication was still sealed within its packaging, resembling an envelope, with a seal sticker intact.

I find it utterly reprehensible that any business could justify such an astronomical price increase, amounting to approximately 35,715%! I am deeply dismayed by this experience and cannot fathom the reasoning behind such unjustifiable pricing practices.

As a result of this ordeal, I cannot in good conscience recommend Roundwood Vets to anyone. It is evident to me that their primary concern is profit, rather than the well-being of their clients' beloved pets. I have lost all trust in their services and will no longer be utilizing them for my pet's care. My dog's health and safety are paramount, and I refuse to entrust them to a practice that prioritizes financial gain over ethical conduct.

Roundwood Vet Dr

Roundwood Vet Dr. Sarah -- and bereavement counselor Kayleigh -- helped us through the very difficult loss of our 14-year old dog, Lilly. Dr. Sarah is a great vet who understood how hard it was for us to let Lilly go. Dr. Sarah and the Roundwood Pet Hospice team supported us every step of the way, and they've reached out to us in the days since we lost our dog. We are deeply grateful and we recommend Roundwood very, very highly to pet owners in the Liverpool area.

Perfect

I booked Dr Emma to come to my house because my 18 year old terrier Chesney was approaching the end of his life and I wanted his passing to be as good as possible. It turned out to be the perfect choice.
Despite being a lovely dog, Chesney was an awful patient and hated going to the vets. Emma handled him (and us) so kindly, gently and beautifully he didn't have even a second of distress and didn't realise anything was happening. He slipped away peacefully with those he loved stroking him. It could not have been better.
Dr Emma has my heartfelt thanks and strongest recommendation.

Amazing Practice

I am so glad that I chose Roundwood to come to our home and help our beloved English Bulldog 'Dudley'
rest in peace. This was a difficult decision to make as he was almost 12 years old and been in the family since shortly after birth. Roundwood helped ease the pain a little by being so helpful and compassionate from the telephone conversations at the beginning of the process to Dr Emma's visit to us. Dr Emma was so so kind and patient and explained what we might expect and even gave Dudley a small bar of Chocolate which he really enjoyed before he drifted off for his forever sleep. I cannot recommend them highly enough and should I get another Dudley I will almost certainly use this practice for my pets needs. Thank you to you all especially Dr Emma.
KInd regards

Excellent pet care

I have registered 4 pets with Roundwood in Willesden and I have nothing but praise for the vets and the way they take care of the animals they see. They are extremely professional, caring and trustworthy.
I had an awful experience at another vet practice near my home and first went to Roundwood when my beloved chihuahua was very sick and I knew he needed to be put down. They were so compassionate and caring with him and with me. I have been going there ever since. Dr Jo is amazing.

It has been 5 years!

It has been 5 years since my beloved health cat died after attending this vet, for what was supposed to have been a yearly booster, but ended up tragically dying after I was talked into cleaning his teeth!

I notice on their website that there is still a section about dentistry! I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole!!! and I will never ever forget or forgive them for what they did to him!
