Was with Safeco for many years

Was with Safeco for many years, every year my bundle rate went up as expected, but this year went up 50% without having any claim, my agent said is inflation and blame it on the economy, what a scam, loyalty has zero value to them!

With SAFECO for 20+ Years & they DUMPED me!!!

I was with this company for OVER 20 years, and I got one speeding ticket and they dropped me!!! They are owned by Liberty Mutual, so I would expect they are just as bad. Really? You couldn't just raise my rate? You had to DROP me?! This company is a horrible company, I hope they go completely under!! Terrible! 20+ years of business, and they take a giant dump on me for one little mistake. HORRIBLE!!!!

My second time a renew my insurance without any accidents and it's the second time they go up in price...
In my first year, I paid $198. In the second year, it was $252, and now it is about to go up to $298...
If they have a normal reason, I'll delete my review.

This is the worst insurance company I…

This is the worst insurance company I have seen in my 40 years as a general contractor. I'm not sure what I could offer as constructive criticism. Customer service is a joke at every level. I think the best thing to do is have the Oklahoma insurance commission revoke their license.

Do not trust this company

Just like many other reviewers have said this company will sign you up and then cancel insurance at their fault so they can attempt to get you to re-sign up with them and pay a penalty or a lapse in coverage rate hike. The amount of reviews stating that this company did this exact thing to them is insane. They need to be shut down.

Avoid this company like the plague

Avoid this company like the plague. Tried to get a refund for my deceased moms car insurance. Was owed almost $300. Started with the local agent Michael gratz who was totally uncaring and couldn't be bothered. Finally got the policy cancelled and a check was sent in my dead mothers name to her former address which obviously was not cashable. Tried to get something done by the corporate office and they were worse to deal with. Horrible customer service!!!

HORRIBLE

HORRIBLE - STAY AWAY
You only pay for what you need, I paid and they happily took the premiums and I paid for a lot of coverage on a small custom home.
I have had a water loss and they sure do not pay you what is needed for repairs.
Their estimate is less than 10% of what is needed and the description from the adjuster is so bad it is embarrassing almost beyond words. I requested over a dozen times for this to be reviewed and adjusted and met with one excuse after another. We have been lied to, short paid on the cost of the initial demo and dry out where we are out of pocket tens of thousands of dollars, they have adjusted there estimate to about 25% of what we have bids for to replace in like kind. They stopped paying our excessive electric bills for months, stopped paying for the rental equipment recommended by the contractor and remediation company to keep the house safe, stopped paying for the storage rental of our personal belongings that were saved. Now they have stopped returning emails and calls. All in all an absolute horrific experience.
Get Travelers Insurance, they were amazing to a couple friends I know who had troubles.

Re-routes to a medical alert program

When you try to file a homeowner's insurance claim over the phone with Safeco it literally re-routes you to a spam line trying to sell you a medical alert program and then hangs up on you. It doesn't get much more scammy than that.

Worse company I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing business with.

Worse company I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing business with. They lie about 24hr customer service. They have a 3rd party customer service who can only answer questions. But far as needing to do anything to accounts can not. I never get a call from them about them dropping my policy but when I login to my account it says my account is paid. Also I hate to be the person who needs to pay a day late because they expect you to pay the month plus next month on top of late fees to continue service. Save the pain and pay the extra with a reputable company.

Go somewhere else for Insurance.

On March 26, 2023, there was a hailstorm where I live. 3 of our vehicles were MILDLY damaged, but my husband is a "car guy" and keeps the vehicles in pristine condition, On April 1, 2023 we took our vehicles to see Safeco's Claims Officer. While polite and seemingly professional, the Claims Officer made the statement that he was going to hook us up good and we could either use the money to fix the cars or take a vacation like he and his wife did. While we thought this was an odd comment for him to make, we didn’t place much thought into it at first.

The Claims Officer (I wish now I had gotten his name) made ridiculously high estimates of how much it would cost to fix our mildly damaged vehicles. He claimed one vehicle, a 2007 Honda Civic, would cost $4,500 to repair! The Civic had 4 hail dents and a small cracked spot on the windshield where a piece of hail hit it. Another vehicle, a 1996 Acura Integra also received an extremely high estimate. We took our vehicles to several dent companies to get estimates on the repairs and the estimates we received were all significantly less than the Claims Officer’s estimates. The most expensive estimate on the Civic was $1,500, and the Integra’s estimates were also thousands of dollars less than the Claims Officer’s estimate. My husband sent emails of the quotes he received and spoke to Safeco Claims Adjuster Amy Campbell informing her of the wildly dramatic price differences between the Claims Officer and the Dent Repair Companies. Jason from National Dent, the repair company we decided to use to repair our vehicles, also emailed Amy Campbell and informed her of the ridiculous differences in the actual cost of the repairs and claim amount made by the Claims Officer. Amy Campbell refused to accept the information from National Dent or the other estimates we acquired. Instead she defended and aligned with the Claims Officer because "he is licensed." We were trying to save Safeco money and save our vehicles from being totaled, but Amy Campbell was rude, unprofessional, and difficult to work with. Safeco ended up totaling 2 (the Civic and the Integra) of the 3 vehicles that received the mild damage during the storm. We informed Amy Campbell that we would be keeping the vehicles, but she had a Salvage company call my husband, which harassed him by calling multiple times a day for several days asking when and where they could come pick up our vehicles. Was all this difficulty created so we would turn in our cars to Safeco for them to auction the cars off and make more money? That is the opinion of several other insurance professionals we have discussed our claim with.

Our vehicles were repaired. It took months (it is now July 2023 and this process started in April 2023) for Safeco to send the salvage title to Integra in the mail and forgot to send the Civic's salvage title. We had to call to find the title to the Civic, and the woman we spoke to had it laying on her desk and had just "forgotten to mail it." As soon as we received the Salvage titles, we began to gather the information to get Clean or Rebuilt Titles. It is now July 19, 2023 and we finally have our Rebuilt titles, which is unfortunate given the minimal damage to our cars.

Obviously, we canceled our insurance policy with Safeco. They clearly have no interest in helping their customers even when their customers are trying to save the company money by informing them that their Claims Officer was making absurdly high estimates.

My car was recently damaged in a hail…

My car was recently damaged in a hail storm. I contacted Safeco and I was assigned an claims adjustor. The adjustor contacted me and I asked the adjustor to call me in regards to the next step in the process. the Claims adjustor never contacted me. I came home and there was a gentleman at my house. he said he was sent by Safeco to inspect the damages to my vehicle. Safeco never gave me a chance to get an estimation of the damages to my vehicles from an auto repair shop. I called the adjustor and the adjustor stated she didn't know the procedure for filing a claim to have my vehicle fix. the worse service ever!

I applied for Classic Car insurance…

I applied for Classic Car insurance through Safeco was told multiple times my car was approved and covered. 2 months ($44 x2) down the line, they canceled it without any explanation, no letter, nothing. Money ($13) was refunded back into my account, that was the only reason I found out our insurance was canceled. A week later we finally reached a live rep and was told our car was a "grade market vehicle" and they could not insure our car. If my car was not insurable through Safeco, I would expect a full refund of the 2 months taken.
I would expect normal practice to go through all the underwriting before insuring my car, not tell me I am insured and then cancel it. Now I have to frantically find new insurance. Worse insurance ever.

Safeco is the worst auto insurance…

Safeco is the worst auto insurance company ever, what are they doing selling auto insurance in a rural area when they can't provide any services, in the winter of 2022-2023 they couldn't find anyone to jump my car, pull it, or even getting my car unlocked using their roadside service. If your in the city they provide services but if your in a rural area forget it, my car got damaged because they didn't provide the service they promised so I'm looking for a new provider. If you want good coverage go to a different insurance company because Safeco is unreasonable and unreliable.......

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST

Don’t ever deal with this company. Stay far away from them! The worse insurance company to deal with. I would give a negative star if I could. I totaled my car so they issued a check but wrote it to my ex wife because she was the policy holder. Which I understand that makes sense. But the agent didn’t know that and never explained to me. She canceled the check just to reissue the same check again. So a 1-2 week process has now turned into 3-4 week process because of lack of knowledge. I’m currently trying to cancel my home owners insurance and when I call they don’t know who my agent is and I HAVE to talk to that specific person. This company is a joke!!! Like I said before AVOID AT ALL COST

Scam Artists

This is the same review I gave for Liberty Mutual Auto Insurance--because my policy was jointly held by them: Scam operation. Changed my billing source with their online portal twice in response to their inability to get it right. They canceled my policy due to non-pay anyway--waiting to let me know til I filed a claim. I did my due diligence in switching payment sources, but they failed to do proper billing--dooming my policy and the coverage of my damage by them or any other carrier (because I learned after the fact that I wasn't covered by them--and no new ins. co. will cover this now-existing claim.) Safeco: an inept, souless organization.

So many ways to get out of a claim!

This is a duplicate because SafeCo is actually owned by Liberty Mutual. I didn't realize that there were so many ways to get out of paying a claim!! After a 4-week process, Hail damage was documented and agreed upon. Only to then be told that according to meteorological data there had been no hail in the area for 365 days. Why do we feel duped?!

They don't know what they doing

I had Car insurance for 1 year.My car caught on fire. They called towing co after 2 month they couldn't covermy car because I didn't have a collision.  They wanted to pay me for my car for only $500. Everything works. I just need to change the interior. I asked to bring my car back. I saw a cracked windshield, mold and rust inside after I received it.I informed Safecot immediately. They don't pay for any of their mistakes and they don't know what they are doing there! I have to spend $1300 for their mistake. Never Safeco Never!
