If you are moving do NOT under any…

If you are moving do NOT under any circumstances use Schmid Transport and Reinigung.
We found them via MOVU.ch as one of 5 quotes as we planned our move from Lucerne to Munich. It was a disaster, and the worst move we have ever experience, from start to finish:
· They did not arrive on the scheduled date, Wednesday 27th March, but only the next day so we wasted a paid night (CHF300) at an Airbnb we didn’t use.
· Many emails asking to confirm dates and delivery etc were just ignored by Schmid.
· They did not pack things properly, especially fragile items which resulted in damage to furniture.
· They did not provide the correct border paperwork and so could not commit to a delivery date in Munich.
· We had to reschedule repairs to our apartment for late Thursday afternoon as we were leaving on Good Friday, and had no time to do proper repairs and clean walls.
· They went to the wrong address in Munich? We waited an additional hour for them to arrive.
· They had to offload in a hurry as they needed to return to Switzerland so just dumped everything in the garage and cellar.
· Our one possession we told them to take extra care of, a family heirloom Murano vase that was supposed to be crated never arrived. It was not crated and is “missing”. No furtehr explanation. This was a wedding gift from now deceased parents, and is irreplaceable. Their response: “They are not sure the vase even existed, we cant prove it was meant for delivery”, despite us then sending them pictorial proof and it was listed on our itinerary. I had to prove that I am not making up its existence, and they have at best “lost” my vase, which they do accept any responsibility for.
· This expensive, irreplaceable vase is not the only item to ‘disappear’. My sons toys, bean bag, my wife’s evening dresses, a ladder, cleaning equipment and many other items, have “disappeared” along the route.
· I was charged an additional CHF300 cash on the day even though they agreed to deliver on the Saturday 29th as per quote that I paid. They had to beg the delivery team to deliver my furniture on the Saturday despite two months of planning for this.
· Their cleaners then called me on Saturday to say that the apartment is bigger than they were told so the clean will cost more, although the Schmid assessor was given full access to the apartment and they provided that information to the cleaners, not us. They expected more money and I had to refer them back to Schmid.
· Their attitude is blandly apologetic, and not interested in helping to find the vase or in resolving the issue.
Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY under circumstances or you will have lots of damaged and missing items. Best to take the advice given by their staff via email, “If it (the vase) was important you should have moved it yourself”. This after paying CHF6,000 for the move. We have moved internationally 3 times. This was by far the worst move and moving company I have ever experienced. They should not be allowed to remain in business.
Thank goodness for the staff at MOVU, they really tried to assist and were both apologetic and helpful which is a small mercy. Without MOVU I expect we wouldn’t have received any of our furniture or goods.
