Above and beyond!

Above and beyond!
The people at Scorptec went above and beyond what was necessary for my PC build. When an item was unavailable they waived the extra costs, did not make me pay shipping for an item that was not at the building location and were available to answer any queries I had about my system. I thoroughly recommend Scorptec for anyone wishing for a trouble free pc build experience.
Thankyou for all your help Scorptec!

Terrible customer service and inflexible return policies

I purchased a MSI B450 Tomahawk Max on the 27th of July which arrived with a faulty RAM slot, meaning that the entire computer was unable to run. I was hoping to be entitled to a refund but the Aftersales Manager at Scorptec Clayton, Arthur said that I was only entitled to a repair after meeting him in person.

Timeline:

27 July 2020: The motherboard was collected
29 July 2020: Sent graphics card in for testing as I believed that it was causing the issue
25 August 2020: Graphics card was shipped back
10 November 2020: Motherboard was sent in for testing
20 November 2020: Fault was detected
9 December 2020: Refurbished motherboard was sent back

Under the ACL Section 260(a), I believe that the motherboard has a major failure as I would not have purchased the motherboard if I had known about the fault and it arrived in unacceptable quality as it was not free from defect under Section 54(2)(c) of the ACL. Arthur stated that due to it taking 105 days to return the motherboard after the purchase, it was only a minor failure and that I was only entitled to a repair. I believe that under Section 260(c) of the ACL, I can reject the repaired motherboard and receive a refund.

Due to COVID-19 and Stage 4 Restrictions, I was unable to return the product in person and the store was outside the 5km radius. Arthur said that shipping was free shipping for returns but this was not clearly stated on their website at the time. There was no flexibility or other possible solutions provided by Scorptec and the best that they could do was a repair.

It is implied through Arthur’s conduct and words, that he believes that there was “considerable use” of the motherboard even though it is impossible for a computer to get a visual display if there is an issue with RAM and therefore cannot be considerably used. Arthur also stated that anyone could then just “wait till one month before warranty, return it and get a refund” and that he was “the highest point of escalation.”

As Scorptec said that our only remedy was a repair and this issue has yet to be resolved even after meeting the Scorptec Aftersales Manager in person.

I have contacted the ACCC and Consumer Affairs Victoria about this issue and I am waiting for their response.

Order parts that were in stock

Order parts that were in stock, 3 weeks later keep getting revised delivery dates. But complaint is that there are no email or phones numbers to call on the website. This is unacceptable.

Bought a laptop online for $1300

Bought a laptop online for $1300. Received ZERO receipt nor any notice from them without asking. Fine. Asked, got one, after panicking it was a scam. Well, it is. There was an issue with delivery which may have been the delivery companies fault. Fine. But the "U" key popped off two months after purchase (the teenie tiny plastic clip on the back literally broke) and they immediately tried by email, by phone, AND AGAIN IN STORE to blame us and deny the warranty. It's against Consumer Law, I immediately told them after three clearly systemic warranty denials of a ten cent part that I'd call the ombudsman and file a chargeback. They refused to let me keep the laptop even though it works ok if you press the key lightly. So, it's sitting on a shelf for God knows how long until they get that "U" key during a pandemic. NEVER AGAIN. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

I purchased a gigabyte monitor from Scorptec

I purchased a gigabyte monitor from Scorptec back in June 2020. After 3 months it went dark down the left hand side and was unusable. I contacted Scorptec and asked for a return but due to Covid was unable to bring it back in person (I no longer had the packaging). I had hoped they would simply replace it as it was a basic problem and only 3 months into a 3 year warranty. However they would not bend and I was forced to go (elsewhere) and purchase another monitor so I could work at home. Once Victoria reopened I was able to book another return and take it in person back to Scorptec. Now I'm being told (after many days) they may actually repair the item and return it to me even though they know I had to purchase another one and they are waiting on some department to make a decision. It's outrageous, they are not out of pocket in any scenario, Gigabyte would not repair a screen so new, they would simply replace it. In my opinion this is simply terrible customer service, not caring at all about the impact to me

Straight Up Lied

Customer service constantly contradict themselves in helping to solve my order that should have arrived months ago. The arrival date was gradually pushed back week by week with no communication as to why. Originally customer service said they'd upgrade me to the newer model at no extra charge. Great! But they didn't follow through with that and are now trying to upsell me to a pricier moniter when the only reason I bought with them was for the cheaper one??? I am livid at the unnecesary stress this company has caused me.

Atrocious customer service

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I do not understand how a company would hire a team of customer service representatives that are so poorly trained and have no basic courtesy when speaking to your customers.

Absolutely will not recommend them to anyone.

Reliable established company, great prices.

I have been buying all my PC gear, peripherals and parts from here for years and have had nothing but great service and prices. I have only had to return a few items in that time and it was always straight forward.

Purchased a monitor after calling ahead…

Purchased a monitor after calling ahead to ensure they had stock. They said yes and it will be shipped within days. I purchased it. After weeks of getting on going automated emails pushing back my order I get another email saying it's now a whole month away. The lies are infuriating and I worked from home with a tiny screen waiting for weeks for a big one to now have to wait nearly 2 months. They seem to not care at all. Don't sell monitors if you don't have stock and don't lie about it. Really simple.

Great customer service and prompt at processing in-stock orders

The Scorptec Macquarie Park team are organised and responsive.

I did have one issue with a miscommunication where they accidentally cancelled an order, and sometimes their supplier's ETAs aren't particularly accurate (mostly because of the COVID issues).

But at all times the team has been helpful and patient when I've contacted them online or on the phone. When I have had an issue where a refund was required, they've been very prompt to process (especially compared to other retailers whose accounts departments take 5-7 business days to even process a refund).

I absolutely highly recommend the Macquarie Park store, especially when they have items in stock.

Absolutely abysmal online service

Sales staff made a mistake on the dating of my invoice, which meant my order didn't qualify for the promotion which was a huge reason I bought the product in the first place. That's fine that happens, but 6 weeks later I have sent 10 emails, spoken to 4 different people and done the live chat 3 times, still no answers about fixing their mistake. Absolutely zero attempts to reach out to me, I was doing the chasing every time. Terrible, terrible, terrible service. I have warned everyone I know not to shop there because of this and that is a few thousand dollars a year so good job.

Be Aware of Scorptec!!

I've purchased this item around 3 weeks ago. Initially the wrong item was delivered. I drove to Scorptec in person and tried to solve the matter but was told to contact Amazon. Contacted amazon a handfull of times by now and still nothing. Seller does not answer phone and dont respond my emails. I've checked the reviews in here and there are quite a few other customers in the same situation.

Fantastic Service

Ordered parts to build a new computer from Scorptec last week. Monitor was out of stock when I ordered but they gave me an ETA although that kept being pushed back due to covid. Communication was easy via online chat, and a special shout out to Vencent who phoned me multiple times to give me an update on the monitor and went above and beyond splitting my order so everything else was shipped before the monitor came into stock. Requested a refund on the monitor as I found what I was looking for elsewhere and in stock and they happily processed a refund within the hour. Would definitely recommend Scorptec and will be using them again. I especially appreciated free Express Courier delivery in Melbourne.
Update: Unfortunately I received a faulty graphics card and had to return it. I bought a new one from elsewhere in the meantime so was after a refund. The whole process from lodging the RA request to receiving a full refund in my bank account took just over 2 weeks, and that's taking into account Aus post's terrible service at the moment!

Poor Customer Service

Tried to get in contact about the Razer Blade 15 and received their automatic reply a week later asking if i still needed help. Responded asking my question again. Days later a guy said he would look into it and get back to me - never did. Then I got another automated email saying the enquiry was solved and if I wanted to ask any more questions. I responded that my questions were never answered and just gave up.

It shouldn't take weeks to get an answer to a simple question. Poor customer service.

Purchase with no product Delivered. Keep the money

Purchase, and paid in full, x2 monitors online. Only 1 package and 1 monitor was delivered. Tracking says both was delivered. This did not happen and provided proof. Wrote to them to see if they could help and got radio silence. They took my money and left me high and dry. Complete Crooks.

Make sure you use the Live Chat

I returned an AMD graphics card due to faulty driver issues and was concerned that their testing process might make me pay the restocking fee so I contacted them using the main contact me page.

At first I wasn't very impressed by their lines of communication and generic replies to my comments, however they totally redeemed themselves.

I got onto the live chat to address my issue and a manager called me back immediately putting all my concerns to rest. The testing process only took one day and I was refunded immediately. Moreover I asked for a replacement card that was on sale at the time of my return and they honored the sale price without me even asking about it.

All in all I think their lines of communication need some work however everything else was beyond what I expected. Just make sure you use the live chat and actually talk to someone.

This used to be a good supplier - not anymore!

I bought some computer accessories from Scorptec Clayton before, and also most recently today. Maybe previously I was lucky, the guy who served me was excellent, pleasant and knowledgeable, and the shop was nice and tidy (last year). However the last two purchases provided me with a very bad experience. Taking the covid situation as a pretext, they keep people waiting outside the shop in the cold , while inside the only three guys theoretically serving customers take long breaks or disappear completely (most time while I was there only one desk was serving). Now they do not accept cash - I was not even aware that this is legal! And the most recent two guys who served me could not care less, and they did not seem to know anything about what they sell ! I do my research before going to the shop, but if less informed of what exactly you need, expect to be given the wrong product, or told 'it is not in stock', even if there is stock! All in all - a repeatedly dismal experience, and I cannot believe how all these businesses take advantage of the current government imposed restrictions to provide abysmal service to customers. Hopefully there is still an alternative supplier left in Melbourne - do not use Scorptec if you can avoid it.
