Difficult to Return Items, Blood-Sucking Penalties

The Government bought stuff from these guys in the past so I thought they were okay. They are not. I should have read their feedback here first.

I ordered an MSI GeForce GTX 1650 D6 VENTUS XS OCV1 graphics card by mistake when I should have ordered an MSI GeForce GTX 1650 D6 VENTUS XS OC. Multiple attempts to reach a human on the phone via any of the after-sales menu options failed. I finally reached a human by going through the new sales option. These guys are keen to sell stuff but not to support it.

Following advice from the human, I initiated the online return process. That process finally ended today, 2.5 weeks after it started, with me doing my part within 24 hours of each step. The result; I am out of pocket $50 postage and Scorptec charged me a 15% ($60) restocking fee for an item that was in-stock (and still is). All I wanted to do was exchange the OCV1 card for the OC card which was the same price. I could accept wearing the loss on postage but not this restocking fee. Now I am leaving Scorptec, starting from scratch to buy the card from someone else, but more than $100 behind where I started.

Lousy customer service Scorptec. See ya.

No contact for warranty job

Have had my PC in for warranty twice now. They have my PC and you can't contact anyone via phone, email, online, social media. It's like they have taken our things and shut the doors. Their social media is full of ppl in the same boat. Do not trust this company.

Poor warranty experience

I purchased a SilverStone 360 AIO from Scorptec that developed faults whilst still in its warranty period. I spent weeks troubleshooting the issue, even contacting and troubleshooting with the manufacturer who said that the item was faulty and to “please get in touch with the retailer of this cooler for information of how to proceed a RMA request.”
I contacted Scorptec approximately 12 months + 2 weeks after I purchased the product (after having spent weeks in troubleshooting and communication with the manufacturer).
Scorptec denied the warranty as it was over 12 months since purchase, even though I could prove it developed faults in the warranty period, and provided them with the manufacturer communication that directed me to get the product RMA’d.
There are plenty of 360 AIO’s out there with 2 or 3 year warranties, so the fact that mine failed in less than one shows that my particular AIO was not of ‘acceptable quality’ under ACL
Shoutout to SilverStone for pretty much ignoring Scorptec and providing great customer service in this matter by ensuring that the faulty product was replaced. The ease in communication with Silverstone was leagues above Scorptec in this matter: they helped me troubleshoot the issues, directed me to Scorptec for the RMA when appropriate, and when I informed them that Scorptec denied the RMA as it was 2 weeks past 12 months they went out of their way to ensure that the product was replaced.

Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling! Refused my warranty claim. Didn't respond to my issue for 1 year. Will do everything in their power to gaslight you.

They're like an abusive partner in a relationship who blame everything on you and won't admit to their faults, even when the writing is on the wall, they'll convince you that they abused you because you deserved it.

Scorptec is a fantastic tech store.

Scorpy Boi's will always be my go-to tech store.
Even when I run into faulty products, the return is always super easy.

I guess the only con I have about them, is it can take 2-4 weeks just for a simple problem, Like recently I took in a mouse that had a faulty scroll wheel, and it's going to take them that 2-4 weeks to test it where it should only take around 5 minutes tops.

So 12 months ago I bought from…Skorptec Feeling the sting of poor service and warranty support.

So 12 months ago I bought from Skorptec, an RTX 2080 graphics card
Took them awhile to get it to me but hey that was covid times.
I used the card for a while about 12 months and then it started playing up whilst play 3d games (random shutdowns)
After searching the web and doing a little testing (boosting the fan to 100%) it seemed to work for a bit longer) thus the issue clearly seemed to be a overheating fault with the card.
I arranged to ship back to skorptec for a return/repair/refund as it was clearly still under warranty.
At this point it got interesting.
Due to delays in Auspost they auto closed the ticket after a 4 week delay
I opened another ticket for this with them (stating the reasons why I think the ticket closed )
Funnily enough it arrived at their depot the next day.
I then waited some more
Skorptec informed me that they would have to ship back to Asus for “further testing” whatever that means . - afterall the card was clearly faulty from my initial explanation.
And I waited some more.
After many emails and attempted calls (no one ever answered their returns /warranty queue) I finally managed to get someone to call me back via calling the sales queue.
Apparently the card “had a bent plate and therefore voided the warranty!!!” and I could either let them dispose of it or they could ship it back to me.
Are you kidding me!?
The card worked when I sent it back (it just kept overheating)
I then requested to speak with a manager as the agent indicated that she “wasn’t authorised to help me” ( I don’t envy her job which is obviously to be the bad news bear) and was put on hold for another 15 minutes.
I then spoke with her manager (Jennifer or Jessica) and she informed me that she need to investigate and escalate further.
I informed her that the card was clearly faulty when I sent to them and under Australia consumer law I am entitled to either a refund or a replacement card
I stated that I don’t understand how a component that was still working and in prime condition (just overheating)
Is now deemed to be broken . Furthermore it is totally unreasonable to expect me to resolve this with ASUS as my relationship is with Skorptec. They should cover their own risk under Australian consumer laws which state that vendors must supply good of ‘acceptable quality.’ Acceptable quality has a number of factors, including that the goods will be safe to use, and that they will be reasonably durable. The meaning of acceptable quality is considered by what a reasonable consumer fully acquainted with the goods would regard as acceptable.
Skorptec didn’t sell me goods of acceptable quality and are trying to blame me for it.
She then came back to me and let me know it was apparently “damaged in transit “ and I am entitled to a refund.
It shouldn’t have taken me this much effort to do this.
Don’t use skorptec.

Rude, Robotic, Unapologetic! Don't Bother!

Don't buy from these rude, robotic, unapolgetic numpties! I attended their South Melbourne store this morning, only to be told that they were doing click and collect sales only - but, their website didn't say that, and in fact, indicated that due to a power shortage payments could be delayed. A rude, robotic staff member said I needed to place an order online and then the order would be ready to collect within an hour. He refused to accept my order while I was actually in the store. Another couple had the same experience. When I mentioned the issues with their website, the robot behind the desk said he would raise this with the online team. These duds deserve to go out of business. The end of this story: I went to Officeworks South Melbourne and bought my items spending $150. So, Scorptec lost hundreds of dollars in sales within a minute. Never again!

Worth a second shot 🤷🏻

My first experience with Scorptec was not great

Purchased $500 worth of Ram at a higher price than competitors as the website showed in stock,

Ended up having to call to find out they were waiting on stock.. 🤷🏻

Just purchased a $1500 GPU & much better experience this time round 👌🏼

Items have been shipped within 24 hours even with regular postage option selected

The single worst online shopping experience I have ever…

The single worst experience I have ever had shopping online.

I paid $75 for express shipping, then the package was lost for weeks with no advice from Startrek OR Scorptec, who claimed "covid delays" when it was literally weeks. Not to mention they've closed their phone lines and it took days to hear back from support, I even had to follow up twice.

Eventually they finally advised that the package was lost, so I asked for a refund- to which they didn't even refund the $75 I wasted for express shipping.

The entire process has taken almost a month- I simply cannot express how much you should not shop with Scorptec, take your business somewhere where they actually know what they are doing.

Untrustworthy

They don't ship on time. They overcharge for items and for shipping. They don't have a customer service team - so forget about them replying to emails or answering phone calls. They do, however, have a team whose job it is to delete bad reviews. Completely untrustworthy company. GO ELSEWHERE!

Bad customer service and feedback to missing part in delivery

I purchased a CyberPower PFC Sinewave 1300VA/780Watt UPS about 2 months ago. I picked up the box from their Macquarie store. When I opened it at home, I found power cable and other small parts missing. I emailed them to ask for the cable. No reply at all. So I had to purchase a power cable from Amazon separately. I did not make a big deal of it and moved on.
Yesterday they sent me a link for review, so I made an honest review. Immediately they replied that they couldn’t not publish my review as it was against their policy, without even addressing the matter I raised in it. This was the first find I bought something at Scorptec after reading good reviews online. Now I understand that they only published good reviews and that may be why I didn’t see the whole picture. I would never buy anything from their stores again.

I will never buy anything from Scorptec…

I will never buy anything from Scorptec ever again.
I had them build a custom build PC, and they assured me that not only do all the parts I chose work well together, but they will test the PC before sending.
They send the PC and it DOES NOT WORK. It does not even light up.

So I send it back (keep in mind they promised that they had tested it), and they tell me that there was an issue with the motherboard. They tell that they will replace it and send it back.

When I next receive the PC it, AGAIN, does not work. No lights, no sound, NOTHING. At this point I tell them I want a full refund. They then tell me that the issue was, again, the mother board.

Not only did Scorptec not test the PC before they sent it, they lied about it, lied about fixing the PC, sent me the same non-functioning PC, and then did not even give me a full refund.

Those who have had good experiences with Scorptec have only had them through sheer luck. And then the tech support person I spoke to had the audacity to patronise me as though I knew nothing about computers.

I cannot express how fully horrible this company is.

Most dishonest and scummy company EVER

Scummy , thieving , deceitful company . I used to tell people how good Scorptec are , now all i can say to them is that they are the worst of the worst in the industry . They treat their loyal customers like nothing when it comes to making themselves happy . I got a RMA card from them after MSI approved a faulty graphics card claim and it was scratched! They pocketed the money from MSI and gave me a USED card . Ontop of that they pretended to help fix my girlfriends PC and then stole it from her and claimed the original buyer charged back even though we had a written receipt and ownership of the item. trust me this place is BAD , go buy from Centercom instead. The manager on duty dealing with the situation was Arthur. He is very incompetent, unprofessional and furthermore he is a thief and a liar aswell. He actually admitted to my girlfriend that he lied to her!

Worst customer service

Worst customer service & overall refund system ever encountered.

Zero stars, worst customer service I have ever encountered. They took 2 x screens back for warranty and it took 10 weeks before I got 1 back, they lost the other one. When I tried calling, noone would answer. When I tried contacting them via their online chat, it took 4 hours to get someone and then no help. When I lodged a query via the returns portal I only got a response once to my 3 queries and it was a generic, "we dont care, but we really want you to think we do" style response.

When I finally thought it was over I went to pick up my monitors and they hadn't transferred them to Clayton as they instructed instead they were in South Melbourne. Lastly, I had to fight them for the refund after they continually kept up a front of the second monitor being on its way. Well, thankfully the returns docket showed it was lost since the 18th of November (I am writing this on the 7th Jan). So they are liars as well. I am not going around in circles trying to get my promised refund actually refunded, turns out they aren't very good at that either.

Summary:
Dont answer the phone, dont respond to emails, dont chat via the website without a 3 hour wait, dont transfer your warranty to correct store for pickup, lose one of your monitors, lie about losing the monitor, unable to process a refund.

I am surprised they know how to open the doors on the shop and install a PSU tbh.

Stay well clear.

Prompt & well packaged delivery

My sibling and I made 2 independent purchases of wifi range extenders from this website.

They honored their initial 20% discount off each purchase, and the products arrived, as described, within a few days.

They put a lot of effort into the packaging to ensure the product arrived undamaged.

I would definitely buy from them again! =)
