The free plagiarism scanner mentions a high risk which should bring one to buy the full scan. My actual score was 8% (which they state as high risk) what got flagged is the universities declaration of authorship and my references. Thanks for nothing scribbr! Baiting people into buying a service at its finest.

We are sorry to hear that the result of our plagiarism checker left you frustrated. I’d like to clarify why your 8 percent result was shown as a high risk and why this isn’t an attempt to push anyone into buying something.
Our risk levels are intentionally conservative because even small amounts of unintentional plagiarism can have serious academic consequences. That’s why the free checker uses fixed thresholds: anything under 1 percent is considered low risk, between 1 and 5 percent is medium, and from 5 percent onward the tool labels the result as high risk. This doesn’t mean that your work actually contains plagiarism. It simply means the report contains similarities that should be reviewed to be on the safe side. The risk thresholds are in line with those of most universities.
In your case, the flagged content consists of common matches. They raise the similarity score but do not indicate plagiarism. This is exactly why we always recommend looking at what has been highlighted rather than focusing only on the percentage.
I also want to reassure you that the goal of the free scan is not to bait anyone into purchasing. It’s meant to give an initial indication and help you understand whether anything in your document needs closer inspection.

Back in the day when I used to go to school, I was a good paper writer, but hated MLA formatting and citations, it was my arch nemesis.
I went back to school to obtain a professional license, and was required to write an MLA formatted paper as my last project. Starting out, trying to do what I once did, I started to feel stupid and that I was less capable than I once was - until I found Scribbr! The help has meant the absolute world to me, and I feel seen and helped, but not to the point that I don't know the material like I used AI to write everything for me. It gave me the training wheels I needed to eventually fly all on my own.
This is a tool to help those who help themselves, and I'm so happily here for it :)

I use Scribbr for all my work cited pages but I wish everytime you started a new one the old ones went away I haven't looked how to do it but if you can't, that would be a good thing to change. And the other things they offer work really well to I'd recommend but I want to gate keep.

I LOVE IT
I love it! It is a great help to create multiple lists and have a place to keep track of them. Additionally, the editing aspect of fixing a citation is beneficial, particularly in cases where the generator makes an error or if you want to learn how to cite manually. Then, the use of in-text citations, including or excluding page numbers, is a great help when writing papers, discussion boards, and other assignments. I recommend Scribber to everyone I know!

Slimy scare tactics to drive sales.
Scribbr is getting a 1 star mainly because of their scare tactics for getting someone to pay. Uploaded document, get told, high level of plagiarism pay now to see. So went ahead and paid, only to then have the service run the check. So what was it you showed in the beginning if only to scare someone into a sale. So for that, you get 1 star, go take a shower, the greasy sales person stink is on you.

This allows you to make an informed decision on whether to upgrade and unlock more in-depth results or not. The full report with all the matches, sources, and highlights just takes a bit more processing time, which is why you only see the full details after upgrading and letting the complete check run.
Our software flags any similarities that may require attention, including general expressions, correctly quoted passages, and citations. This is why even low percentages can still benefit from a detailed review. The thresholds we use are aligned with the standards of most universities.
