In the end I was happy with my resume and cover letter, however I don’t know if it was worth $300. I submitted a substantial amount of my own writing in the form of question responses, my previous resume and previous selection criteria for a job application. And I do understand that the service needs to reflect my thoughts to be personalised to me and the job position I’m applying for, however I feel that this service is overpriced.
Additionally, I received my resume in an incorrect design (not the one I asked for), and I didn’t get the correct design until a week later - after I had reminded them twice about it. I also noticed that the ‘Achievements’ subheading was spelt incorrectly and when I let my writer know he said that it’s not his fault, and put the blame on the editor.
I did ask my writer for some modifications to my cover letter, as I originally wasn’t satisfied with it, and when I would suggest things my writer would sort of brush me off as if my ideas were wrong. I had asked to add more personality to my letter as I wanted it to stand out, and he said that he couldn’t do that because I “didn’t sound as passionate as some other students he had talked to” and didn’t have one particular reason of why I wanted to become a nurse.
In the end I have had to make quite a few changes myself, which I know is expected, but I guess after paying $282 I had higher expectations.

Select Resumes provided an excellent service, far better than I anticipated. My writer (Jennifer) really took the time to get to know me via a telephone call and put together an amazing resume for me! I was so happy with the result and would highly recommend. 5 stars!

Outstanding service from Mel J and the team! I was thrilled with my resume and not only that the knowledge and friendliness shown to me. The finished product was even better than I expected - way better! I know have several friends now going to use Select Resumes.

It is better to write resume and cover letter by writers who did the similar resume and cover letter in similar profession like engineering. otherwise they dont know the engineering terms.

I understand my writer was unwell and I feel awful providing this rating. Jo made me feel very comfortable, however I received my documentation later than agreed and had typos etc. I utilised the service as I was travelling in the NT and didn’t have the time to draft or pay attention to detail. I’ve been granted an interview, however I have been advised that the application rates 1/3% of the outcome. The reason I chose to invest in the process was to give me an advantage, however it turned into a highly stressful experience for me instead. I feel I have wasted my time and money.

I've used this service a couple of times already and I've been entirely satisfied both times.

From the first application to the second, I opted for a different writer only because the nature of the job was very specific and after discussing it with Nicky, we came to the conclusion it would be best to use someone who was more conversant with the employer.

The final result was extremely focused to the application and used all the correct terms to see my application through.

The cover letter I thought wasn't up to the usual standard I have come expect from select resumes. The was no use of the star format for highlight my achievements or work activities to suit the role. The job examples were mixed up combining several jobs into one example, the consult writer didnt take the time to listen to the experience I have gained from different role, and it showed. I didnt use the cover letter for the role I was applying for.

12 Apr – Created my Select Resume account and authorized payment of $438 for a Resume and Cover Letter
13 Apr – Select Resume provided instructions to proceed to the writer
13 Apr – Filled out the provided resume information form and provided an existing resume and qualification doc’s
16 Apr – Writer missed our first scheduled discussion
16 Apr – Emailed writer saying it was OK and I was travelling now so I asked whether Tuesday 20 April worked for him
19 Apr – Hadn’t heard from writer so emailed asking whether or not he was OK to talk on the next scheduled date
19 Apr - writer emailed me saying that was fine
19 Apr – I sent writer a list of the sort of roles I was likely to apply for to provide some guidance on my needs
20 Apr – Phone conversation with writer
24 Apr – select emailed asking writer when I’d see my resume
29 Apr – I sent an email asking when I’d see my resume and what the next steps would be regarding the cover letter and any related editing requirements
29 Apr – select promised to follow up with writer to get an ETA
3 May - I sent another email requesting an update
3 May - select replied that writer advised he would have the documents completed by the next evening. Once he sent them to editing they’d get straight on it and get me the documents that evening
7 May - I sent another email requesting an update
7 May - select replied that writer had just sent the content that morning and indicated I’d get the documents that day
7 May - I received my resume and cover letter from select
9 May - I sent a slightly modified resume back asking for Select to sense check the changes I’d tracked into the document
13 May I still haven’t heard back from Select Resume

I did tell the writer I wasn't in a huge hurry, partly so he didn't feel too bad about missing the first scheduled phone interview. But given it's supposed to be a 7 day turnaround, I paid my $438 on 12 Apr and didn't get anything until 7 May, and have now waited another 4 days for feedback on some minor modifications to the provided resume I don't think I'm being unreasonable with this feedback.

All in all this has been a fairly frustrating experience.
