We specially want to thank Dennis Victor for the trip to serengeti and Ngorongoro, this was amazing!! Dennis was the perfect guide, he had a lot of knowledge and new the best spots for the animals. We saw all the big five !!! He was also very kind towards our son! We also want to thank Daniel for the trip to Mkomazi, also Daniel was fantastic! Be very careful. False promises and very out of date

Shadows of Africa left us with deeply mixed feelings.

While the sales team did a decent job of selling and the guides performed admirably, that’s where the positives ended.

The communication between sales and operations is abysmal, with itineraries that fail to align with contracts. This creates false expectations that are quickly shattered. Elements of our contract were outright ignored, and even addressing concerns with the guides yielded no resolution.

On-the-ground management in Kenya and Tanzania is nothing short of a disgrace. They fail to respond to WhatsApp messages in a timely manner, often taking one or two days to reply—completely unacceptable when immediate assistance is required.

Their accommodation choices are inconsistent, ranging from exceptional to utterly unacceptable. Two properties we stayed at lacked basic amenities like running water, and one hotel was outright laughable in its standards.

Requests for head office management details have been repeatedly ignored, as have multiple inquiries for compensation or refunds. The lack of accountability is glaring and unprofessional.

It’s a shame because Shadows of Africa has the potential to be an exceptional company, but it’s held back by poor leadership, a refusal to step out of its comfort zone, and a complete lack of accountability. Until these critical issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this company.
