Good service remedied disappointing first impression
I was initially disappointed because in early summer I ordered Mephisto sandals in the colour I particularly wanted and was only informed at a later point that they were out of stock and wouldn't be available until late September, i.e. too late to be of use in summer 2013. However I was glad I persevered with the order thinking at least I'll have them ready for next year. Subsequent communication with Shoes International was well handled by the company and the sandals arrived as expected.

Very good service and very helpful
I live in the US but could not find the eccos I wanted in the States, so contacted Shoes Intl to see if they could ship to the US. Ordering process was easy and order was on way in no time. They kept me posted on every step. The US Post Office attempted delivery, then could not find the package (my regular postman was on vacation) and they were very understanding, offering to reship at no additional cost. Fortunately, my postman returned, found the package and made the delivery.

APPALLING SERVICE
SHOES INTERNATIONAL DEBITED MY ACCOUNT [ £159.99 ] ON 17TH SEPTEMBER AS PAYMENT FOR A PAIR OF BOOTS I ORDERED FROM THEM ONLINE. IT IS NOW 11TH OCTOBER AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY PURCHASE, DESPITE SEVERAL EMAILS SENT TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM. THE REPLIES I RECEIVED WERE ALL CONTADICTORY LEAVING ME CONFUSED AND NOT PROMISING ANY ARRIVAL DATE. TODAY, AFTER SENDING YET ANOTHER EMAIL TO THEM, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY BOOTS WERE DELIVERED TWO WEEKS AGO AND, AS I WAS NOT AT HOME, ARE BEING RETURNED TO SHOES INTERNATIONAL.
NO-ONE CONTACTED ME ABOUT THEIR DELIVERY, I WAS NOT TOLD WHO THE COURIER WAS AND NO ATTEMPTED DELIVERY MESSAGE WAS LEFT AT MY HOME. ON REQUESTING A REFUND THEY TELL ME THAT I CAN ONLY HAVE MY REFUND CREDITED TO MY ACCOUNT WHEN THE BOOTS ARE RECEIVED BACK AT THEIR HUB. ALTOGETHER AN EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE. I HAVE LOST £159.99 AND AM LEFT WONDERING JUST HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR SOME UNKNOWN CARRIER TO RETURN MY ORDER. PRESUMABLY THEY HAVE BEEN TRAVELLING FOR OVER TWO WEEKS NOW.
YET ANOTHER ONLINE COMPANY WHO DOES NOT COME UP WITH THEIR PROMISES BUT IS VERY KEEN TO ACCESS ONE'S BANK ACCOUNT LEAVING THEIR CUSTOMER OUT OF POCKET AND WITH NO PRODUCT. I INTEND TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION

.I don't think it is a 'good will gesture ' to return a customer's money, when the product they paid for weeks earlier has not been received. It is the law. It astounds me that you have not even apologised for the great inconvenience you have caused me or my wasted time. Your responses have all been a litany of excuses. In order that you can improve your service to customers in the future, I suggest that you train your staff correctly and offer REAL good will gestures to your customers when your services go awry, as suggested in my email to you earlier today. It is THEM who suffer. I do not think an offer of a 10% discount on my future purchases, as a further 'good will gesture' accounts for much either, as I am hardly going to gamble my money or time again with your company again.
It seems incredible to me that you run an international online business and have no idea who your carriers are! That this is 'out of your control'. Beware other European customers!

Firstly I should advise you that I asked our team to send you a full refund earlier today, before I saw this review. We are not content unless our customers are content not just with the products we sell but with our customer service - it is part of the way a small family company like ourselves can compete - we offer a caring and personal response to queries and concerns.
To find out what happened In your case I have read through the emails and discussed the matter with our team. I am inclined to agree that as soon as we realised that your parcel was being sent back to us, we should have sent you a full refund. We only discovered this today, and I am hopeful that you will have received a refund by close of business today.
We use Royal Mail and have a good many happy customers in Spain. I don't think I can recall this ever happening before. In the case of your order we fulfilled the part of the contract what we had direct control over as we promised. Unfortunately we cannot account for, nor predict the actions of foreign postal service employees. We do however realise that despite it being out of our direct control we are responsible for the arrival of your goods within a reasonable time period and this is why we have refunded you. Nicola who originally replied to you has not been with us for long and was mixing up returns from customers (where we do wait until the shoes arrive back with us before refunding) with returns where the items were not delivered by the courier.
It is incorrect and disingenuous to suggest that you have "lost £159.99". At no point have we refused to refund you, and in fact the likelihood is that we will have refunded you within 24 hours of discovering that your parcel was not delivered. I had offered you a 10% discount in the email I sent earlier - even though I don't think we could have done anything to prevent this incident we offered this as a good will gesture. One quick glance through our many positive reviews on TrustPilot should help to reassure you that we value our customers - and the vast majority of them value us too. I hope we can change your mind.

Unfortunately it seems we are unlikely to reach any common ground over this issue. We did not refund you 'as a good will gesture' - we did this because we are obliged to. We offered you 10% off your next order as a good will gesture.
We note the suggestion in your last email that we should send your boots back (free of shipping charge) so that you might consider revising this review. We do not respond to blackmail. We are happy to let our customers and potential customers decide for themselves who is being unreasonable.
