Super service as always

I always use SIXT when hiring from Gatwick Airport. Excellent service and favourable prices is enough to keep me returning to them. Pick up is so quick and easy as is drop off. The employees at pick up are always so personable and professional. Highly recommended.

Service was really good

Service was really good. Very easy to access from airport, staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Car was easy to locate and drop off was relatively easy and straight forward. Would definitely use again for next car hire.

Excellent service

This was first time to rent a car in terminal and had great experience except small issues with finding the location of the Sixt Booth. Once you find the location, the process is very smooth.

2 times now great brand new cars

2 times now great brand new cars. No issues with the pick up and drop off. Not too pushy with selling extras and it feels like the first car hire company I can actually trust that I have ever come across. Great experience 2nd year running.

Overall good service

Overall good service, the car was exactly as booked and very clean. However there was a small dink in the paintwork which Sixt had not spotted but they logged it when we pointed it out to them. Also, their pick up process took far too long given that I had checked in online several days before arriving at the pick up location.

Disrupting car hire in a great way.

Booked from Australia for a 3.5 week rental from/to Manchester Airport. We had issues on arrival as my credit card got blocked. I was tired/stressed after a long flight but staff in Manchester were fantastic - patient and calm.
They offered a different vehicle on landing, but when I checked it had smaller boot space then the one we booked. Apparently the one I booked had just been returned and wasn't yet clean, but they got onto that and gave us the vehicle we booked.
It was in excellent condition and immaculate. (VW Tiguan).
Everything was done digitally, but the user experience was smooth and they clearly spent money getting this right.
The return was efficient, staff very friendly and again, stress free. Their staff are a credit to them. I was even able to talk to someone on live-chat mid-rental to get an answer to a query.
All this in complete contrast to our most recent experience at Newquay with Europcar. Mountains of paperwork and a grubby/battered car which was not what we booked.
Great to see companies like Sixt taking on the old guard.

Better than dollar

I was loyal Dollar:thrifty customer for over 20 years but following really poor service at collection in Orlando tried SIXT. Very impressed with speed of collection, price is competitive and cars lower mileage. Would recommend over other companies.

Everything was excellent

Booking process online was easy. When we arrived to collect the car the staff organised everything quickly and the shuttle service from the airport was very good. We did not have any waiting around which was lovely.
All staff were really helpful and efficient. The car was great and ready to go. Handover at the end of the rental was easy and staff friendly and helpful again. I was very pleased with the whole service and will definitely use them again.

Istvan in Gatwick deserves 5stars for patience and helpfulness. Made renting a car a pleasant and easy experience. A superior car was provided when the one we ordered was not available and that was entirely our own fault. Thank you, I would recommend with confidence.

Offering what appears to be a free upgrade, which isn't!

Sixt car rental are clearly instructing their staff to use language which gives the impression you can get a free upgrade, which they then charge you for.
Two weeks ago, I rented a car for a week from them at Malaga Airport. I received an invoice totalling €437.08. The very pleasant woman who served us said: "Because you have rented from us before, I can offer you an upgrade." I think most people would infer from that that the upgrade was free. I agreed to the upgrade, used the car for a week and returned it. The next day, I received a revised invoice for €1,350.19. When I looked at the details, the major change from the first invoice was a CHOICE upgrade, totalling €433.86. I telephoned their helpline, and a man offered me a 50% reduction in the fee, which I turned down.
I then wrote an email and their reply includes the following: "According to our records, the upgrade was accepted during the rental process and the corresponding vehicle category was provided. For this reason, we are unfortunately unable to approve a refund for the upgrade charge."
So - not even the 50% reduction that the man on the helpline offered!

Great service at pick-up and drop-off

Great service at pick-up and drop-off. Musti/ Alex you know who you are!

The booking made online with no hitches. Price reasonable too, when compared to "the others".

No upselling of additional insurance, which was important to me.

Got an upgrade too.

As an aside the Peugeot 3008 was good too!

Unfair £40 Administrative Fee for Simply Processing a Traffic Fine

Extremely disappointing customer experience with SIXT UK.

I fully accept responsibility for traffic fines incurred during my rental. That is not the issue.

The issue is SIXT charging a £40 “administrative fee” simply to process and forward the fine — in one case, effectively close to or equal to the value of the fine itself.

Let’s be clear: this is not some exceptional service, legal defense, or complex operational intervention. Handling fines is a routine and predictable part of the car rental business.

Their justification? “It’s in the terms and conditions.”

That does not automatically make it fair.

Charging customers what feels like a punitive extra fee for a basic internal administrative process is disproportionate and leaves a very poor impression.

I even raised the concern respectfully, questioning the fairness and proportionality of the charge, only to receive rigid template responses repeating policy language without genuinely addressing the core issue.

This is a perfect example of a company prioritizing contractual technicalities over customer experience and commercial common sense.

A disappointing way to turn a customer into a detractor over something that could have been handled much more reasonably.

Awful service, booking cancelled day before and was lied to multiple times

The service I received from Sixt was an absolute disgrace, was lied to multiple times by different people and abruptly had my booking cancelled a DAY before pick-up.

I received a call from the Milton Keynes branch, regarding something about my booking not having a damage waiver and so they cannot rent the car to me without paying an additional £22 a day for the basic protection package. I explained to her that i booked via the website and selected no extra protection (i booked with them in January 2026 and did the same thing and had no problem renting the car) and she told me that i needed a basic protection to rent the car, generally - which is definitely not the case as nowhere on their website does it say this.

She then proceeded to tell me that she would call me back to confirm. After I missed her call due to being on a wor call i then received an email saying my booking was cancelled about 30 seconds later. After i had finished my work call i proceeded to call back and had someone tell me that the booking had been cancelled because the car wasn’t available and validation failed. I asked him that i received a call earlier about basic protection and damage waivers and at no time was any of that mentioned, i then asked to speak to the original person to which he told me she would call me back.

An hour later they called and explained that she had taken the £22 a day quote for basic protection (it was £4 a day on the website, id like to add) to higher ups to which they put my driving license through security checks and it failed apparently. This service is a complete shambles, at no point did i want to be upselled, the website doesnt say that basic protection is needed to rent a car, and my security checks failed randomly when she was checking if she could get me a discount, at no point did i ask for this.

To confirm i have been left without a car a day before i need it, when i had booked a week ago, get called a day before saying that i had no damage waiver on the booking (which is included as standard with rental cars) and it being framed like she was doing me a favour by trying to ask for a discount.

I raised this with their customer service via telephone and they were no help at all, they told me if i had a complaint to email it in…. To the very same time i was on the phone to. They then confirmed i was lied to with the reason they cancelled my booking because of availability. They then offered a miserable £20 voucher… which was definitely not enough as i had to pay more elsewhere a day before i was going on a trip.

Absolutely disgusting service, had them tell me that i was lied to, they tried to offer £20 voucher when i had to pay £80 extra for alternative transportation. Will never be doing any business with them moving forward and will definitely be taking this further, i have asked for copies of all call recordings of them lying to me multiple times.
