The company quoted around 260€ for a car rental and ended up getting charged 570€. Loads of hidden fees that they don’t explain properly or show as part of the rental agreement. You just sign on the iPad without actually getting to read the details of the agreement. It then gets used against you when they try to justify the ridiculous charges. Worse experience I’ve had with any hire car company. Will absolutely be using a more trustworthy company next time.

Very disappointing experience with Sixt through Booking.com.
I booked a BMW 1 Series or similar but was told it was unavailable after waiting nearly 2 hours and was offered a lower category Citroën Aircross instead. I then felt pressured into paying an extra £87.47 just to receive a BMW 1 Series M Sport.
The final costs were also not clearly explained. I later discovered additional protection charges and another £122.47 taken from my account, despite already informing staff that I had my own insurance cover.
The car itself was fine, but the customer service, communication, and pricing transparency were very poor. Overall a stressful and frustrating rental experience.
An impossible pickup time
I booked a rental car for 1600 and showed up a few minutes late. I found the office had closed at 1600, the very same time my car was booked. This being the case, they should not make bookings after 1545 at the latest. Customer Service suggested I come back at 8am the next day, which was preposterous, considering I rented the car to go somewhere that night. I told the customer service it was no good to me. Despite this, I was marked "no show" at 8am, that being their excuse not to give a refund.
Ironically I had a similar experience with Sixt in Italy (long story) a few years ago. This was the first time I used them since. I should have known better. Never again!
Great service from start to finish
Great service from start to finish. Simple to book the car I wanted, collection staff gave various options that were available should I wish to change. No issues throughout the rental and return was straightforward.
WILL NEVER USE AGAIN
Booked a car via Booking.com. Unfortunately arrived 9 mins later than I should have due to traffic. They had released the car and did not have any others . Therefore even though I had booked a car for 2 days they released it and don't give refunds. Getting paid twice for the same car.
Second time using Sixt - recommended
Second time using Sixt and it won’t be last. Easy to book, competitive prices and great staff when picking up and dropping off.
I have rented cars from the Shore Hotel…
I have rented cars from the Shore Hotel branch of Sixt in February and April of this year and the service by Andy and his staff has been first class as have been the vehicles which I have been provided with. I hope to go back to Santa Monica in June and will certainly be renting from Sixt again.

Easy and quick collection even though I was slightly early (30 mins). No hard sell. Great car, brand new, lovely drive, no issues throughout. Wonderful easy return; short check by really pleasant friendly staff then on my way with no surprises in the invoice. Will certainly rebook. Keep it up.

The Marbella team are particularly good.
However, I would like SIXT's pickup process to be quicker. Despite check-in online it still takes a long time to get the car!
It was really good
It was really good. Car was exactly what I picked and was offered to swap it to a Volvo for a Swedish experiance but needed something more of the ground so stuck with what I ordered. Agent asked me about the glass and tyre insurance I didn't pick but I chose a full insurance so I said I did t see it and asked to add it to the policy and luckily I did as first time ever I had a stone chip that cracked the windscreen and the insurance saved me hundreds of pounds.
Will definitely use them again.

Billed for damaging the wrong car.
The porta-cabin at London City Airport was unmanned and I was on the phone with customer service for 15 minutes before someone arrived claiming that their "back in 5 minutes' sign had been stolen.
The car itself was good but then I was harassed by their team when they claimed that I'd damaged the car. The photos they attached were of a completely different vehicle (different make, model, colour and the number plate was visible and obviously not the same as the car they were billing me for damaging). I pointed this out to them via their online damage form but my objections were ignored and they continued to demand over £600. It was only when I threatened to complain to the ombudsman and take legal action that they conceeded that I wouldn't be charged. There was no apology, just a statement that the claim had been 'waived'.
Absolutely disgraceful.
Similar experience than many other…
Similar experience than many other customers. On return of the car at Faro airport they try to charge me for damages already in the car. In my case they want to charge 251 EUR for a small scratch under the bumper (which nobody couldn't see unless you look under the car) claiming it wasn't there. I took pictures of other damages in the car but obviously this was below the bumper and nobody would see it, they claim they don't have pictures of the car before I took it. When I returned the car they told me not to worry about the scratch but 4 weeks later they charged the money to my credit card. I usually book reputable hire car companies but I will never use SIXT again but stick to Hertz, Avis, Europcar.

I usually use Sixt. I won’t say they are always this good but at Bordeaux train station I got amazingly friendly and efficient service, and an upgrade, both in the office and in the parking lot.

I booked a petrol, manual vehicle similar to a Volkswagen Golf or Vauxhall Astra for 6 days from Southampton Airport @ GBP 133,00 through booking.com.
I was however provided with an automatic hybrid SUV with a lame excuse: verhicle makes and models are never guaranteed. If I wanted a Hybrid auto, I'd booked one, but I did NOT.
Alternatively, they offered a normal car, a large Skoda (automatic, again) at an upcharge of GBP 348 ....
That's almost 4 times the price.

Each has been a seamless proffesional experience, with helpful staff form pick-up to return. Vehicles have all been very clean and given a choice of upgrade.
Would def make them our go to rental for Florida.
Everything went beautifully to plan
Everything went beautifully to plan at our pick up at Sofia airport. No queue to check in. Really efficient and friendly guy on the desk. Short walk to the car park. No problems with our Kia automatic - clean and in good mechanical order. There was a slight glitsch on return because we were sent an email which gave misleading instructions on where to leave our car. Good value, we thought.
