Rental of a damage car from Bremen airport
I have rented a car from Sixt from Bremen Airport (Germany). When I picked up the car, it had significant damage to body and tires and stank of cigarette smoke. I did complain when I returned the car and received a letter of apologies from Sixt, which stated that the car was in a state in which it should never have been rented out to me. (Ein Fahrzeug in diesem Zustand hätte Ihnen niemals übergeben werden dürfen. Das ist ein klarer Qualitätsmangel, für den ich mich ausdrücklich entschuldige.)
Despite this apologie, I have now been contacted by Sixt damage team to pay for some of the damage (I did take photos of some of the damage I noticed when I picked up the car but haven't spotted and recorded all of it). My objections against Sixt damage team's unfunded claims have so far been unanswered.

Rental was from Alicante airport, the process was very smooth from start to finish. The online booking was simple, collection was seamless with a great bunch of staff and drop off was very easy. Next time I am flying to Alicante I will use SIXT.

Booked and prepaid £600 for a rental. At the counter they demanded an extra £450 for insurance despite my own comprehensive policy. Staff made no mention of any credit/background check — they were ready to hand over the car as soon as I paid the upsell. When I refused, the rental was denied.
Sixt’s later explanations kept changing (insurance → failed “third-party risk assessment” → negative credit check) with zero evidence or details. Eventually refunded the £600 after hassle, but no apology or proper explanation.
As a long-term Diamond member, this was extremely disappointing. Misleading advertised price and poor transparency. Will not use Sixt again personally or for business.

Please Please do not use this company as they lead you towards damage costs that they will put on to you when returning a vehicle
I have two properties in Mojacor playa in spain and always rent prestige vehicles through six t as does my son and daughter and also people that rent my two properties
When going to the checkout I was asked what insurance I wanted and was advised to just take road side assistance which I did and had a prestige vehicle as I always hire
However when returning the vehicle and landing back in england I received an e mail that there was damage and that costs would be charged to me with son receiving exactly the same which was quite suspicious
My son pointed out that ignored their advise and took the damage insurance and his was dropped straight away with me receiving disgraceful e mails regarding these fictitious damages given that no one walked this vehicle with me when hiring and was provided with no condition report they have charged me £550 for a scratch to them bumper which will now cost them dearly as they have lost circa thirty weeks rental from us given the three of us plus all my rental people that will now go elsewhere
A company that I love using and has turned out to me my worst nightmare when hiring prestige cars Please do not use them as they will so the same to you

Picked up from downtown Vancouver. Website was easy to use, check in was fast and simple. Upgraded to cover some areas not booked at a decent cost. Advice on local petrol station to return a full tank. No issues with the vehicle which was spotless inside and out. Great instructions to locate vehicle in the car park with very friendly and helpful staff. Had to extend the booking by a few hours which was easy to do directly online. Return was simple and easy to do. All together a 5 star experience
Awful - Worse than Greenmotion
Sixt are currently trying to charge me £475 for damages on a car I rented a fortnight ago. The pictures they sent me contained one tiny scratch on a rim (which was there when I picked the car up but was so small I didn't think they would consider it damage) and no other visible damage whatsoever.
They are saying there is a dent in the wing, but despite providing several photos of the "dent", none of them show any damage.
No damage occurred to the car whilst I had it rented, but given that I can't even see the damage they are claiming, there's a good chance whatever imperfection they've discovered that can't be detected by normal human eyes was a preexisting quantum dent I didn't spot at pickup (and likely couldn't have done, because it must be so miniscule that only the finest microscopes can divine it). Complete bullshit.
I have rented through Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Greenmotion and Enterprise in the past, none of those 5 attempted anything like this (although Greenmotion have some appalling customer service and I would avoid them like the plague).

Sixt Cambridge. The best rental. I rented with them 3 times in the last 6months. They always helped me last minute, offered the best cheapest deals, always checked in with me in a very friendly and warm way. Customer service is so important and here's why. The service desk guy was brilliant, he did up sell us but that's fine it was good advice and it is a hilly island so having a more powerful car was good. From that point however it all went downhill.
We walked out to find the car, it was a little confusing to find the bay as parts of the bay system are really clearly marked but the higher numbers are not. We tried to ask a Sixt member of staff and frankly they could not have been ruder, they simple ignored our question and walked off. The car was in a terrible state damage wise all over, it was also dirty and the link to my phone did not work although it appeared if you have an iPhone it would so we navigated by map and my wife holding her phone. I looked up the car on the internet and it should have talked to my android without any issues. The service warning light flashed for the whole time we had it as did a warning light for an oil change. So we spent quite a lot of money on a car that was obviously bottom of the their list in terms of care. Would I use them again. maybe, but there not top of my list anymore.
