I paid extra to have my Canon 700D delivered on a specific date. SLRHut did not let me down. I am extremely pleased with my purchase which was a lot cheaper and I had more items for my money than I... See more

very happy customer
I bought Canon 70D and 18-135mm lens on Monday and got it on Thursday. The items came to London new, in perfect condition and well packed. The price was really good and after placing the order I didn't have to pay any additional fees, no duty or taxes fees.
Before I decided to use the company service I read some reviews about them and not all of the reviews were good. But my experience with the company was great and I think that they do a good job for people who are on a budget and still want to have fun with photography.
I would like to confirm the terrible attitude of this company
I bought a C100 last year from this company through their 'U.K.' website (the company is actually based in the States; their UK address is a postbox). I have two points to make that resonate with other experiences on this site and elsewhere.
Firstly, I too was given the hard sell (one can't simply buy from the website - you're asked to ring their offices to 'confirm' your order, but this is a front to sell you more stuff. Like others on this site, I was told that the battery that comes with the camera would last 30 minutes so I should buy another. They offered me a 'super charged' one for £200 they told me would last for 12 hours. Being a professional film maker, I agreed to this. The first time I took the camera out, that fully charged battery lasted 1 hour.
A second - and more serious - problem arose when I tried to register the camera with Canon Professional Service. Canon told me that the camera was not for the Western market and could not be registered.
Overall, I've had no problems with the camera (though if something goes wrong with it, I have only insurance to fall back on) but I would never even consider doing business with this company again simply because one can't register their products in the West, they give the hard sell, and lie about their products; it is not worth the few pounds' saving.
New Cannon 700D
I found this website offered the Camera for around £60 cheaper with a load of accesories. I purchased on a Thursday and got the package 4 days later on the Monday. Brand new all perfect, what's not to like about that.
Great Service
I ordered a Canons lens from SLR Hut and apart from the extra sales pitch to entice me to purchase a lens filter, everything went fine. I was able to track the lens all through the route and it actually arrived a day early, with no additional charges. There could have been a little more packaging in the box, but I would use these guys again in the future.
Nothing but a good experience
**In case this review has been spotted on another review site, I'm the reviewer who left it under the different user name. I have just copied and paced on to trust pilot.**
Thought I'd add my review of SLR Hut as I've just received a camera from them.
I chose to use SLR Hut because they were £100 cheaper than anywhere else. I wanted the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 so after trying it out in John Lewis's I came back and ordered one online.
I hadn't read any reviews about SLR Hut beforehand so went purely on price. I paid PayPal and received a confirmation email & invoice from the Hut almost immediately. So good so far.
It quoted a 6-10 day delivery time which I thought was a long time to wait so decided to have a look at where they were based. Through this I came across a lot of reviews and there was a 50/50 split on how good or bad they were. I started to get slightly worried when I read a lot of reviews saying things along the lines of avoid, dodgy to deal with, liars, grey imports, no warranties etc, etc. I then checked out the good reviews and felt slightly easier because the good reviews were actually from people who had purchased cameras and/or equipment from SLR Hut. A big majority of bad reviews were from people who hadn't actually bought from them. Not really fair in my opinion.
I bought on the Saturday and received a phone call on the Sunday. I wasn't in to take the call so a message was passed on that an email would be sent asking me to contact them. Sure enough on the Monday there was a very polite email asking me to call them for confirmation of a few details. Now, through the reviews I was prepared for a bit of sales banter. I was also prepared for an American voice although the phone number was a UK number. Sure enough I got an American guy who checked my name, address and invoice number. He then asked me 3 or 4 times if I wanted more powerful batteries for the camera. Each time I said no and that was that. No aggression, no rudeness from the guy, just a bit of the usual sales pitch you come across in any shop. He asked if I was ok for memory cards and when I said yes that was it. He said no problems and then confirmed the camera would be sent out with DHL.
I had another confirmation email and invoice on the Tuesday and tracking details were also sent through. DHL then sent tracking details and Thursday morning, 5 days later the camera was delivered.
To be honest I can't fault the service from SLR Hut and would have no problems ordering from them again and saving a few quid.
I know they are in America, many online companies are. I know they work from a warehouse, many online companies do. I know they give an aftersales pitch, many high street stores do but if you read the information on their website none of this is hidden (apart from the sales pitch).
There's a years warranty with the camera and to be honest I don't know what use this will be but I have already registered my camera on the Panasonic UK website without any problems whatsoever so I'm completely happy that if there's a problem then Panasonic UK will be on hand to advise. Any serious problems and I have home insurance anyway which covers the camera.
That's my experience and I've actually spent £600 with them. They have a very good sales service and to me they hide nothing. I don't care whether my camera is a grey import or not. All I'm bothered about is that it works and it does. The charger is also a UK charger so no problems there.
It can be confusing after reading reviews, but just bear in mind if you are thinking of buying from them, a lot of bad reviews are from people who haven't bought from them and a lot of good reviews are from people who have bought from them...........
I would have no hesitation in using this company again in the future.
Fantastic Service
I purchased a Sigma lens for my Nikon D7100. The website was easy to navigate and after placing my order I received a call from them confirming receipt and we discussed briefly a few options available to me.
It is true the guy spoke with a strong USA accent but wherever they are actually based, my lens arrived in just a matter of days.
Very pleased - would use again.
Excellent service
Ordered a Panasonic lumix FZ200 one week ago, arrived today and this was with Xmas disruption. All great, comes with a UK plug for charging battery, though I was concerned a little as it was posted from the USA. Best price I could find, and delivery was free. Would definitely buy from them again. Great customer service too.
what a service understandable, and quick , and reliable
sent me an extra battery and cleaning cloth , very experienced and undertstandable, send me spare battery and cleaning cloth in three days straight from new york , thankyou to all staff at customer service and sales team inc john and alex at customer service, thankyou very much appreciated.
Want to support the person who said that SLR Hut are Pushy Pushy Pushy
Just to confirm about the pushiness of SLR Hut - I left a review that let people know that if you lived in the UK you had best think hard about buying form SLR Hut - the camera that arrived was clearly not for the UK market and it proved impossible to get a hard copy manual in English - very frustrating for an amateur photographer like me. I also added that it was good value but you had to know what you were doing.
After I posted a review on Trust pilot, I received countless telephone calls from SLR Hut, sometimes as late as 10pm at night - asking me to change the review, very pushy. The last time they called they offered to send me a battery charger for all the trouble I had experienced and kept asking if I would change my review. Because of the juxtaposition of these two things, I asked if the offer of a battery charger was as a kind of bribe, only to be sent if I changed my review? They assured me this was not the case. I explained I would probably not change my review but would welcome the battery charger for the problems experienced.. I have not been surprised that no battery charger has arrived.
A1 Price,A1 correspondence,A1 Delivery, A1 experience, Highly Recomended!
I ordered a GoPro Hero 3 hd camera for the best price around I could find , I was called the next day seeing if I wanted to upgrade to the Hero3+ for only £9. I must have overlooked the 3+ as I didn't see it when I browsed the cameras otherwise I would have ordered it first time around. So they did me a favour by calling me up with the upgrade offer. Within 3 days my item was delivered (all the way from the USA) no import charges, no costly delivery price. All delivery/charges is included in price as describes. If someone had told me this I would say it's too good to be true, but I can now say from experience, it is good and it is true.
Excellent
I ordered the go pro hero3+ camera and accessories bundle which was a great deal for £240. I had to contact the company once maybe twice to confirm payment but all in all I am very happy with my dealings with slr hut they wore very friendly during the phone calls emails etc and the delivery of the product was extremely fast, I will be ordering from them again and I am very satisfied with my dealings with the company very fast and efficient.
Pushy, Pushy, Pushy
I recently bought a Canon 700D bundle from this SLRHUT for delivery to Bristol, UK. It was cheap and arrived in good time... That is all I have to say that is good about this company
On calling to make the purchase I was given the hard sell on accessories. Accessories that they are selling for a lot lot more than you can get branded products
For example they're trying to sell a 64gb SDXC card for 119.95. The Sandisc (market leader) equivalent is 26.99 on Amazon. I politely declined and after some serious pressure buy further add-ons, they took my order.
I then received a further 2 phone calls pushing various items, amongst them was a battery for £59.99, as I was told the one it came with would last 30 mins. (I have had the camera 9 weeks and and have only had to charge it once) I purchased 2 for £13.50 from eBay
Once the camera arrived I had further issues, 2 of the lenses it comes with are cheap and one has a scratch on it rendering it useless whilst the
macro lens just doesn't actually have any effect!!!
The bag it comes with is not a good fit for the camera.
My final grudge was when I looked for the missing warranty card. to which there isn't one making me start to doubt the authenticity of this product
Overall am I happy? - I like the camera but very very disappointed with the company
Reliable.
Excellent value for money. Ordered on the net, asked to phone in and found sales representative pushy. Dispatch and arrival time I cannot fault. It was very quick, especially when I learned that it came from NY. Tracking was clear so I knew when to expect arrival.
A substantial problem emerged with the camera after fifteen minutes of use. Support was understanding and very helpful. The item was returned and a new one sent out fairly promptly.
It is a good test for a company to see how they respond when something goes wrong, and this one has come out admirably. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent Service, Shipping And Camera
I ordered a D5300 Nikon DSLR with accessories and was very pleased with the entire transaction. Would recommend for UK buyers without a doubt.
Great serviceand excellent piece of kit.
I have just taken delivery of the Sigma 150-500 lens for my Nikon. I've not had a chance to put it through its paces yet but it certainly looks good and handles well. It will take a bit of getting used to the weight [my other big lens being only a 55-300] but I am looking forward to playing with it.
The service was very good with delivery in only 3 working days.
I have not used this company before but I expect that I shall in the future.
Amazingly good service
I ordered a camera bundle after trawling the net for the best deal. I'd never heard of SLRhut so I was a little wary. After placing my order I received a phone call from a gentleman called John offering me a free upgrade on the memory card I'd ordered with the bundle and a free upgrade on the delivery. He then offered me an up-sell on the power pack, offering it for £25 instead of the usual £85. At this point alarm bells were ringing in my ears so I declined the power pack and after finishing the call went onto the review site to check out customer reviews. When I saw the great reviews I called the company back and spoke to john. I decided to purchase the upgraded power pack. Two days after placing my order it arrived and it is absolutely fantastic. I paid at least two hundred pounds less for an amazing bundle than I could find anywhere else. If you are wondering whether this is a legitimate company then the answer is a resounding YES.
The right product at the the right price, swiftly and safely dispatched. A*
After reading several reviews of this company, and realising that the good ones far outweighed the bad, I decided to place an order with them. I started out on their website but at the last minute called their UK number just to check the stock levels and product details. Yes, I found myself speaking to somebody who obviously originated from North America. But that's fine because when it comes to customer service, you tend to find that US and Canadian companies knock the spots off UK ones (Banks, Mobile phone and internet providers, energy companies etc.).
So, the very helpful Mike confirmed that the item I wanted was both in stock and the PAL version - so I placed the order. Then came the secondary sales pitches; I used to work in retail, it's something we are trained to do and let's face it, it's nice to be reminded to buy the batteries or the glue or whatever is required to complete the item you have purchased. These secondary sales were even better, as the items were about 50% cheaper on the phone than on the website. So two lenses a battery and charger later I was ready to pay. Then came the upgraded warranty which I declined as my company insurance covers that sort of thing; but it was reasonably priced and pretty much all inclusive.
So, I paid and about 5 minutes later got a confirmation email with an error in the address - an easy mistake to make but one that needed correcting as there is a Farnham and Fareham in Hampshire and I know what our postal system can be like. I called them back used the extension number Mike had given and within 5 minutes I had spoken to him and another confirmation email had arrived with the correct address on.
2 days later I got a DHL tracking number and 2 days after that my parcel arrived and yes it had come from the states. But it was perfect so not a problem.
I've been a bit longwinded here, but I wanted to fully describe my experience with SLRHut, a company which I will definitely use in the future and I hope you will too.
Amazing deal
I ordered a Canon 7d from slrhut, the price was over half of some that I had looked at, placed my order, and once I had paid and put the phone down I had a wave of panic with the thoughts that if something sounds to good to be true then it probably isn't true. However I received an e mail with my tracking number fron dhl I checked on the dhl website and saw that my order had been dispatched on Friday night from new York, it then went to cincinatti then over to the east midlands in England I received it on the Monday afternoon, opened the box and there was my perfect camera, this has to be one of the best companys I have dealt with, and will definitely be looking here first before I buy anything camera wise
One hell of a lens
Well today I waited in for the dhl guy lol he came late , but when he dropped off my CANON 24-105 lens off it made my day open it love it , maybe now I will be able to start a new business up with a buddiem of mine ,THANKS SLRHUT
If you're looking for good after-sales, go elsewhere.
I've just used SLRHut for an expensive camera order (Nikon D600) ...and wish I hadn't. First off, I paid for what they refer to as 'Rush' delivery, but it still took over a week to arrive. Secondly, their email communication is almost non-existent and if you choose to phone, you're confronted with at least a ten minute hold on a call redirected to the States (at a cost I have yet to discover). You also have to phone during New York time as their supposed UK presence is nothing more than an address.
The camera arrived badly packaged in a thin box with a handful of polystyrene chips thrown in (literally), so the Nikon box inside arrived with a massive dent in the side - thankfully with no damage to the contents. The camera also arrived minus any warranty documents. I've sent a number of emails addressing this, but only one of them was answered. They claimed that many Nikon DSLRs came without warranty documents! This is complete bull**** and subsequent attempts to obtain a response from them by email has died. It's funny how their communication went dark after I started requesting the rightful warranty documents and my contact with Nikon UK regarding 'grey imports'(?).
In short, not really that cheap - with the amount of online competition - and not at all cheerful. You get what you pay for ...or so I thought. If you want hassle free, dependable service I would suggest you use a well established UK company with a track record that helps you sleep at night. I will never be returning to them for future orders.
