I bought a car from SMC Gravesend

I bought a car from SMC Gravesend. The paint warranty is supposed to be for at least 6 years my car was only 4 years old when it developed corrosion at the bottom of rear sliding door . The paint was checked at the proper times and they passed it each time. But when it came to claim under warranty they used every excuse to get out of repairing the damage. I bought the car a year old directly from them with only a few hundred miles on it. Not impressed with their attitude at all .

I was very happy with the service I received at SMC Cowley. The salesperson Ryan was extremely helpful & explained the process and the available cars. He located a suitable car at another showroom and arranged for it to be delivered to Cowley. On collection I had a test drive with Roger who was courteous & friendly after that I dealt with Sophie to finalise the deal. She was very helpful & went through all the functions with me. I would recommend SMC Cowley to anyone looking for a Ford.

Fantastic service from start to finish From SMC, all done over the phone with a part ex so all I needed to do was drive down, swap cars and away I go. No fuss or stress and Jamie was great and extremely helpful. 10/10 will use again for all future car purchases;

****EDITED REVIEW****

I was TOLD by Jamie to give this 5 star review before I drove away (on here, trust pilot plus a couple of other review platforms) and in return he would put £25 worth of fuel in the tank. (Basically a false review, as will most on here will be now knowing this)

Unfortunately, 6 months on I’ve had NOTHING but problems. Firstly I wasn’t told the car had been exported but not imported back into the UK properly, so to register it, I would have to pay over £2500 in VAT to do so, Jamie in particular was EXTREMELY unhelpful in this situation refusing to tell me or the HMRC when and where he purchased this vehicle. (This is still an ongoing battle to receive my V5 logbook and so the saga continues for now) Cheers for that.

SECONDLY, last week when I was driving in normal conditions, my exhaust started bellowing out white smoke, I pulled into a close by garage and refilled the oil and by the time I got home (less than a mile) the oil was completely empty. Having to have it towed to my nearest Suzuki dealership, the AA and the dealer said the sump cap has come off which can only be because it wasn’t tightened up enough on the last service! Jamie (having told me that it was serviced when I first bought the car!?) is now not taking ANY responsibility for this even though i was sold the extended warranty the Suzuki dealer who is repairing it say it is not valid due to HUMAN ERROR on the last service!!

The lady I spoke to in sales called to tell me I should have taken it to an independent repair shop as the dealers are “too expensive” I had already called the office and the guy I spoke to, advised me I could take it to any garage but would be better to take it to a Suzuki dealer so I they could get the correct parts! (The same as advised by my father in law who’s been a mechanic for over 40 years and the same advise as you would find online and via your insurance policies!!) So who is liable for this mistake? SMC are!

I believe that SMC and everyone I have spoken to there, are well trained in avoiding helping out their customers, unless it’s for taking money and their aftercare is simply HORRENDOUS and would advise anyone looking to buy a car from here to seriously consider looking elsewhere.

I was also only given one key for the car, was offered no discount for this and if I wanted to re-sell, most online dealers these days won’t accept cars with one key or cars with an import/export history which I was not aware of.
Also, the onboard computer switches itself off regularly, there are lots of hidden dents/dings/scratches in the body work and the parcel shelf is damaged, no recompense or discount has ever been offered for any of this, regardless of the fact the car isn’t worth what I paid for it (not even close)

So for now, I'm praying the turbo isn’t knackered which is going to cost me big time and even if it’s not, this car is already a money pit which I’ll be lumbered with for a long time.

I feel like I have been well and truly ripped off and am now seeking help via trading standards and the financial ombudsmen.

New Vehicle Warranty Unacceptable

New Vehicle Warranty Unacceptable
I have been a loyal and repeat customer of SMC Ford for several years.

I am the driver of a brand-new Ford Fiesta Vignale 2021, apparently this is the top range for the Fiesta's and therefore you would not expect parts of the car to physically fall off.

But that is exactly what happened with my car since April 22 been having issues with the driver door not closing properly and eventually the door protector unit physically fell out of the car and broke.

Contacted SMC Ford Uxbridge and brought my car in to have this issue repaired was told would not be covered by the warranty as it was, and I quote "Snapped off".

I protested that this was unacceptable eventually was told I will only be charged for the part at £36 at this point I have no choice as I needed the car returned and fully functional.

On picking the car the next day and checking the door, found that the door protector hinge was hanging off, reported this and the car was returned to the workshop to rectify the situation.

Over the last few days, the same component continuously comes of and needs to be physically replaced by myself.

On Thursday 05 MAY 22, I received a feedback call from SMC Ford Uxbridge. I explained I was not satisfied and believe this should have been covered by the Warranty and that the part keeps coming off.

Was told this would be reported to Manager and they would get back to me. As of yet have received no response from SMC Ford Uxbridge and therefore will be pursuing this case via the Local Trading Standards.

I am very disappointed particularly with the get out tactic used to avoid honouring warranty in particular when parts fall off a car which is less than 12 months old.

SMC Sittingbourne

We agreed a deal in September 2021. The delivery date kept being put back and we were eventually called to say car was available mid February. All this is fair enough given the current situation and we had no problem with this. But the agreed Finance deal was not honoured. They doubled the deposit and upped the monthly repayment by 15%. This is completely unacceptable behaviour. So we were left in a terrible situation. But have now sourced a Corsa. I have been a life long Ford buyer, after this experience I will never buy another Ford. Shameful from Ford.

After buying my car from c Ford which I must say was a trouble free purchase and at tgat time was very pleased with the service , after it first year it went in for an mot came out no adviser's 2 months later went in for a service was told rear breaks both pads and discs were down to the Ford recommended minimum level and need replacing at a cost of £500 , well as knowing what I'm looking at I looked and could see there was plenty of meat on both the discs and pads , 1 year later and 8000 miles later my car went into an independent garage today for its yearly service I asked them to check the rear pads and discs , the pads were still 6% over the minimum Ford advisory and the discs were still 8% over so if that's a year on and with at least another 7k on them before they need changing why was I told a year ago they needed changing , glad I'm clued up on what I'm looking at and in the know your car sales are top class but your service department is 2nd class I'd never bring my car back to you for a service

I've been in the logistics industry for 25 years and have never come across a dealership as useless as SMC Ford at Northfleet. We only used them while our Transits were under warrantee and am so glad we can use a professional workshop now. You are better off taking your vehicle to a zoo and getting it repaired!!!

C**p Service

Dropped my car off at 8am, no communication from them at all, noone answering the phones. Popped in to the branch to find out the had done the wrong service on my vehicle (minor instead of major service).
Was told the would do the major now sat here at 6pm and still no vehicle. Staff on the service department haven't got a clue, service manager couldn't give a dam about what's happened.

Thought buying from a professional well…

Thought buying from a professional well known dealership would be my best option, but I was wrong. Within less than 6 months of purchasing my vehicles It developed issues. From the front sensor ,to the air conditioning not working, to the boot not opening. I was unable to use my boot for almost a month. They also request that I pay for diagnostics and for the insurance for the courtesy car. I won’t recommend anyone to go to Ford services department uxbridge. The main sales department tried to resolve my issue but Dan in services department refused to help. They treat you like nothing and as if you are stupid.

Uxbridge Branch:Absolute scam,AVOID

We bought a car less than 1 year ago from the Uxbridge branch from Alex Nottage. The car now had the second repair done - on our bill- that was not covered by the warranty and was not caused by any fault of ourselves. The first time we had the battery replaced because of a dying cell. Not our fault and evidently a faulty battery but we had to pay for it. 3 month on we are paying to replace a broken headlamp. We have had no accident or incidents with the car in the less than 1 year we owned it. We were clearly sold a faulty car. They also had to replace the alternator as it was not charging the battery any more, clearly after one year that should not happen and was clearly already a problem when we bought the car. They are scamming you out of your money!!!Alex Nottage is screening his calls to avoid talking to us. We also were told that we now have a crack in the windscreen and a nail in a tyre, things that we did not have before we handed our car over to be repaired. THEY DAMAGED THE CAR EVEN FURTHER AND PRETENDED IT WAS LIKE THAT WHEN THEY GOT IT. We had an MOT done only 1 day before towing the car to the Ford Dealership in Uxbridge and none of these issues were recorded by them. This is absolutely disgusting! You hand them your car to fix it and they make sure you get it back with even more faults.AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!

SMC Ford Cowley Road are Exceptional

Had a major issue with my car. Was not safe to drive. I turned to SMC Ford on Cowley Road. They got me on the road quickly. Excellent, polite service. Kept informed all the way through. They also did me a favour. Will definitely return, when needed. Some companies and individuals know customer service. Combine the two and you have a winning combination.
