I have been paying off a loan through them but I havent actually been paying anything at all. Its a 5000 loan which I have paid 2000 but it has all been going to interest and fees not the actual loan.... See more

Predatory lending

Predatory lending with ridiculous terms and conditions that allow them to change the terms of your loan without your consent or without even informing you.

I didn’t even agree to the terms and conditions and provide all the info they wanted and they just went ahead and approved the loan without my consent anyway. I am in complete disbelief as to how this has happened

Hi Dallin, thank you for your review and we appreciate your feedback.
We are sorry to hear that you have had a poor experience with us. As per company policy, acceptance of a conditional loan offer is considered electronic consent to proceed with the loan should it be approved at the quoted terms.
If you would like to discuss your experience with us further, please email customer.service@societyone.com.au with attn to Ash.

Discriminate

Would give zero stars if possible. Bombard me with offers because of my excellent credit rating BUT will not accept an application because I am on a Pension. I exceed their requirements on minimum gross income, payback ability and credit rating. Therefore they are knowingly and deliberately discriminating against a EX-Service Pensioner for no credible Ash response lacks substance. I was declined SOLELY because of DVA Pension and Person who claimed to be Senior Management stated that was the case that Society One did exclude Pensioners regardless of income. Does not matter got a better deal.

Hi Colin, thank you for your review and we appreciate your feedback.
We're sorry to hear that you have had a poor experience with us. We do allow for applications from individuals who hold a DVA pension as your income meets our $30,000 per annum threshold to apply.
If you would like to discuss this matter further, please email customer.service@societyone.com.au with attn to Ash.
Kind regards, Ash @ SocietyOne.

I applied for a $5000 loan

I applied for a $5000 loan. I was first informed, interest would be about $900, then it went to $1800, they say yes, but have to verify, which if your turned down, goes on your credit report. I own my own home, outright and have no debt, waste of time. Interest, shouldn't, be adjusted, to suit them, either. A let down, but after reading reviews, feel I was saved from a really bad move. Banks have better interest rates.

Discrimination

This company made me an offer through Credit Simple. I did not request this offer nor did I search for offers. It was reasonable to believe this offer was made on the basis of my Very Good Credit Score with Credit Simple. It came at an appropriate time as my washing machine had just died. In the fields required to ask for a interest rate quote they make no mention of Pensioners or Retirees. My request for a quote was declined because I was unable to provide details of my income. In an abusive phone call they claimed "Other Income" was for Pensions. In the 28 years I have applied for credit/loans through banks and other sources "Other Income" was second job, investments, money from hobbies, shares, interest from fixed term deposits etc NEVER Pensions. Therefore IMO this "Other Income" claim is used as a means to circumvent the law. I will be checking if the financial services enquiry announced recently covers the likes of Society One. I believe it will as it covers non bank lenders. It is a breach of NSW Anti-Discrimination Act to discriminate against Pensioners or persons with a disability. I am both. To be asked why my bank could not help me is an attempt to wrongly suggest I am a credit risk. It also is illogical based on their advertisements offering better deals than "your bank"
