To rent a car was easy. Good price. Directions where to find a car and how to unlock a car were well explained.
However, paying the deposit was complicated. Payment link did not work. I had to transfer money manually. I was then told that the money had not been transferred to the correct account. This happend on the day of arrival and caused a lot of stress.
According to the conditions of Solorent, I would get the entire deposit back if I returned the car clean. I had the car washed and vacuumed just before returning it. However, the cleaning costs were still charged by Solorent.
I then emailed them about this, but never received a response.

We hired a car for a month at a great price, the service was really good and helpful, had no problem with car pick up or return, the deposit was returned without problems and quickly (less than 10 days from returning the car). I'd recommend to others!

Firstly, the service was good, a short wait for the courtesy coach at the airport. The car was nearly new and we were happy with that.
The bad part…..
They take a swipe of your credit card to cover incidentals. Where most companies take an authorisation, this company actually take the payment. In my case €1100 which was £1020. On return, the company refunds the money which took 10 days. However, due to them taking an actual payment, on the return, the refunded amount ended up at £963 so expect an additional expense! There is no recourse on this so be aware.
If only they did as others and just took an authorisation, I would have given this company a 5 star review.

Very easy conversation with Christopher on reservations upon arrival at Malaga airport. He arranged for the shuttle service to collect us from waiting area and then sorted all the paperwork.
Christopher took us out to the car to check her over and provided email condition report.
On further checking we both found additional small blemishes on bodywork so both of us took photos of these for our records.
Christopher was very thorough and professional.
Hopefully the return after 29 days will be similar.
Will update in October.
Have now dropped car off with Cristina the Solo representative on duty.
I did my usual and took a completion of rental video (for my records) and then Cristina checked the vehicle over and confirmed with an email that car was returned in same condition.
She was very efficient and pleasant and spoke perfect english.
Now waiting for return of deposit so will conclude review when that happens.
As promised I have just received my deposit back within the 10 day window they stated.
Can’t find any faults with their service and will now make them my car hire company of choice.

AVOID

Disputed damages. Returned car on 09/08 and still not closed contract when taking €1150.00 as a deposit.

Last email communication was 23/08 and have been ignored since then despite multiple emails. Had to go via my Credit card company as over 5 weeks and not have any closure is completely unreasonable and unprofessional. Cannot even pursue the insurance company due to not having anything from hire company. Do not use.

My son has Chickenpox so we have cancelled our holiday. We also knew it was inevitable that our two other children would get it whilst we were away and would not want to put others at risk. Solo, understanding the situation, decided not only to offer a credit for the full deposit - per the contract we would have lost, made sure having re-booked our holiday, we have the same vehicle sent from Marbella so it will be available for us at Malaga airport. They have speedly replied to every email and have been very happy to deal with every query. Cannot fault them. Thumbs up from us!

VEHICLE COLLECTION: 24/09/23
We found it quite difficult to find the car hire pick-up point - we had watched the youtube video too. The staff were more than happy to direct and collect us as we were completely lost . The Vito was ready and waiting as promised. No hidden extras, a few signatures, an email of the contarct along with photos of the vehicles condition received and we were off - we took pictures of the Vito along with videos of the inside and a photo of the milage too.

VEHICLE DROP-OFF 01/10/23

We arrived back at the collection point just after refueling at the BP, which is en route and a few meters away from Solo, only to find out the tank was not reading completely full... Although I had waited before trying to pull the pump trigger several times after the auto cut off trigger kicked in - I like to be sure! I'd not noticed the gauge did not read full. It was 3:50am at this point - only one pay-at-pump open with a queue. I kindly requested we swing back to the fuel station to try and top up again and the member of staff on duty was very happy to assist. He quickly found out after only being able to put in €3 I had in fact filled the tank and the problem was with the gauge. He promptly dropped us to the airport drop-off and said "all is ok, dont worry".

Sure enough, I received an email shortly after confirming all was ok with the return. I will update as soon as I have received the deposit, but at this point, I have no reason to believe I will not receive it in full and on time. So far it has been an easy, supportive and stress-free experience.

UPDATE: 12/10/2023 the monies have been returned in full. No problems here so I would recommend Solo based on our experience and will be using them again on our next trip - I opted to pay the deposit in GBP

I used this company in Malaga the car had panels twisted on wing no spare wheel. The positive the staff were polite and professional and I obtained confirmation on email my car was full and in same condition. My main concern we’re approaching my 3rd week and my £1050 deposit is still not paid back to my credit card.

Scam scam..please beware and stay away from this fake company.i have filed it in malaga police station.they never pay your deposit back as workers doesn't seems work legally.they never pay my reservation back as I had fight regarding deposit which they keep it for over 30 days.they said they want to check engin.

Rented a car from Solo rent a car on 10/11 /2022 -at Malaga Airport.

Car went down during the night in the midle of Malaga - contact them no responce.

Waiting for more than 2 weeks for the deposit to be returned no reponce.

Advise: Avoid them.

Solo is an excellent company that has good prices, good service in a minefield of untrustworthy scamming car hire companies at Malaga Airport.

Excellent company. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have used the 4 or 5 times.

Rented car from Malaga airport office.
You call them when you arrive and they arrange to collect you.
Quick to handover car, however, they take money off your card as a deposit (250 euro in my case) with promise to swiftly return following checking vehicle on return.
Car was good and no problems during rental period.
However, on returning the vehicle to the office at the agreed day and time, office was closed!
I called the out of hours number and was advised to leave the car outside with keys through letterbox.
There was no one around to take us back to the airport so had to walk a considerable distance with with heavy cases!
The Following day, I received confirmation that all was OK with car.
I expected the deposit to refunded promptly, however, it took e mails and calling to make this happen.
Finally received after 2 weeks.

DO NOT RENT HERE!

They rented me a car with a weak battery and this resulted in not being able to start my car twice and having to call roadside assistance. They are not open on Sunday nor do they have an emergency nr to call during those days so I had to figure it all out. I did get a replacement car on the monday that they drove from Malaga to Marbella for me so I give them one star for that.

The deposit will be taken out of your account instead of being put on hold. It also takes a very long time to get it back and I even had to ask for it via their Whatsapp. No response.

Make sure you do the following if you do decide to rent here. Wich I do not reccomend.

- Insurance seperate! And the highest coverage.
- Take pictures of the car before you drive away and check also the inside to detail! When looking closely there are so many issues with these cars and they dont show you the report before hand.
- Pay with a credit card where you have additional insurance and can open a case if needed, like AMEX.

I have been renting with AVIS preffered for years for business and have now learned that spending a bit more even when on Holiday is the better option going forward to receive high quality cars and 24hr service.

Stay well clear of this company - I have never experienced such poor service anywhere. We booked through DoYouSpain, paid for extra insurance only to be told at the airport on pick up that we have to put a further deposit of €1,750 down (take it or leave it scenario). If we didn't we'd have been stranded at the airport at 22H00 in the evening. Just to mention, we only got the Solo contract after paying the deposit at Malaga airport car park. The only documentation we had until then was the DoYouSpain voucher/contract. That one does not mention anything about the money being charged. Furthermore this deposit was actually debited from my account (not normal practise anywhere) . This meant that I paid extra bank charges & interest on the amount debited (six week rental period). To top it off it took two weeks to refund the amount debited, various emails requesting refund ignored. When the amount was eventually refunded by bank transfer I was left £97 out of pocket due to exchange rate difference. So in short my money was sitting in Solo's bank account earning them interest - how many more other customers have been tricked by this and how much money is Solo making from this little scam I wonder. In short, save yourself a lot of pain and cash by avoiding any dealings with this company.

Booked a car in Feb. Advised 12 hours before pick up (august) that the car we’d booked was not available. Had to squeeze 6 people and luggage into a much smaller model. We’re told to accept it or cancel. No one at airport when we arrived. Waited 25 minutes. Guy who dropped off would make no effort to communicate. Just kept repeating no speak. Tried to charge us again though we had already paid.

Great communication, great price, great car.

BUT remember they ‘charge’ your card for the deposit ‘not’ a pre-auth like all other car hire companies. It then took 2 months to get the deposit back and had to resort to a chargeback via credit card company. This ruined the whole experience.

As a result of this I wouldn’t use Solo again nor would I recommend them to anyone.

Amazing (english) communication before, during and after the rental. I greatly appreciated the upgrade at no extra charge. I suggest getting the 'all inclusive' package to have a worry free time with the car.
I highly recommend SOLO for their superior service and attention to detail. I will definitely use again on my next opportunity!

Really easy to pick up at the airport .Good communication.Polina is a really good help.
We had a month hire then a week from them and they were very good. Merc had damage on already outside but clean nice car and the Nissan van was ideal for our baggage and 5 people ,clean and brand new!
