Very good support team. We managed to raise all the funding as well.

It was a well organised experience. It was easy for backers to donate. Flexibility was allowed, which helped.

Our experiences with the Spacehive platform and their IT linkages with Stripe Express have proved extremely frustrating. We are longstanding Stripe clients, yet the Spacehive platform periodically issues out revised requests for Tax ID validations via what seems to be an AI generated automated process and it fails to accept documents which Stripe have itself accepted.

The speed of response to any query/issue is impressive plus the clarity of how to set up a project for funding.

Expert guidance at every level with useful videos. I would have liked a phone contact at times and the fees still seem a bit high.

They claim a 90% success rate, yet counted our project as “successful” even though we had to raise every penny ourselves without their promised match funding. On top of that, we were hit with disproportionately high fees that drained much of what we’d worked so hard to raise.
When issues came up with the council funding we had been matched to (after weeks of work and the rigorous application process) Spacehive simply echoed the council’s position instead of offering any meaningful solutions or advocacy.
In the end when questioning the disproportionately high fees given the situation with the 'keep what you raise' model, they suggested we could always cancel and refund everyone, which felt like a complete abdication of responsibility.
While the platform looks shiny and supportive at first, once problems arise, you quickly discover you’re on your own. For grassroots projects, the experience is not only unsupportive but also potentially exploitative.
Several people who had used Spacehive before cautioned us against doing so but we were optimistic it would be different for us...don't make the same mistake.

We were not aware at the outset that CDC would 'cap' their so called 'match funding' at 40% of the money raised which seriously impacted on our final amount. We had been led to believe that they would match fund 'up to £10,000.00' so had put a project together that totalled £20,000.00. It wasn't made clear enough that if we didn't reach the full target that the money from CDC would not be forthcoming either AND that Spacehive's commission was on top of the funds received so added another £1,100 to the total amount needed
In all, the project cost us a lot in time and money for a much smaller amount than we had envisaged in the end, and we wouldn't advocate other small charities or CIC's to embark on these Crowdfunding campaigns unless they knew ALL the facts before they started

This was my first experience of a crowdfunding platform, and from day 1 they were fantastic! They guided and supported me brilliantly from start to finish. Highly recommended

Spacehive helped us raise vital funds for our charity. They made the crowdfund process easy to understand and supported us all the way through the campaign.

Spacehive's Partnership with the council was invaluable for our funding goals.

We used Spacehive to crowdfund for Together in Batley and had a brilliant experience. The platform is easy to use, well-supported, and genuinely geared towards helping community projects succeed. We reached people we wouldn’t have otherwise — and it gave our campaign real credibility. Would absolutely use it again!

We're familiar with the Spacehive process as this is our third time using it. The platform is good and user friendly. Getting all the information required to get up and running takes time and you need ro be prepared for this. The prospect of Council funding was what made Spacehive attractive over other well known crowdfunding sites. We were taken by surprise when we were getting closer to our target when our end date was brought forward without our permission, though we got this reset back to what it was.

A number of errors in the system meant that Gift Aid was incorrectly calculated and only corrected upon our spotting it and querying the totals, dates were incorrect when emails sent to supporters and reports were requested at the wrong time from the organisation. Additionally when we requested support on this we were wrongly assumed to be operating in a completely different part of the country. In general the support email team responded fairly promptly to concerns and questions.

There is rich functionality in the software. The user friendliness of it for me, varied from excellent to puzzling on a few occasions. My reckoning is that while comprehensive in its approach and choices, it was awkward when one had a non-standard query or request. However that characteristic is similar for large scale corporate systems. It provides user with a structured approach, to project element for example, design, anticipated benefits and marketing and publicity. At time it had an AI feel about it. But overall a good mark. Well done.

Great customer service. Responded very quickly. Helped with some very tricky crowdfund applications. Aoife and her team were great to work with.
