Disappointed Software

I tried the trail software and it seemed to do the job of blocking unwanted emails. It was when I purchased the entry level software that the performance went south. The emails I placed on the block or black list kept popping back into my inbox. I keep blocking them and they keep coming back in. What I do get is Spamfighter wanting me to upgrade to the Pro level. If this is marketing they suck!

Do not buy SPAMfighter!

I joined Trustpilot specifically to write a bad review about SPAMfighter. Despite all the negative reviews on this site, I foolishly thought I would give it a go based on another review site. Well, I couldn't have been more naive. I spent $29 on a product that simply doesn't work properly on Office 365 or Outlook. (I should have smelled a rat when I clicked on the Gold Microsoft Partner logo to discover a letter dated 30/09/2018.) When I got in contact with customer support, their only advice was to uninstall and reinstall the program. I did that and it still didn't work properly. The amount of spam I got actually increased and the program didn't seem to be able to detect spam before it hit my inbox even after I'd previously blocked it! In the end, I just went back to Outlook's built in spam filter which, as lame as it is, actually works better. All I can say is, whatever you do, just don't buy this program for Office 365.

Dear Julian, Spamfighter does not work with all editions of Office 365 and if your version is not supported, you can contact support and they will of course refund your license.

Used this for several years and it…

Used this for several years and it worked fine, then suddenly it just quit working. Uninstalled/reinstalled at the suggestion of their customer support, and still not working. Their customer support is nothing but emails. Told me that it must be something wrong with the setup. Setup?....you download it and it installs itself! As I said, it worked fine for years, then suddenly it stopped working all together. Kept writing customer support, and their answer was to cancel my subscription with no refund! I would avoid this software at any cost and choose a better alternative

Not good enough. Best to avoid.

It works well sometimes but does have issues.

The first issue: I had to 'modify' the installation to exclude Outlook as it was causing Outlook to slow down and also not send/receive normally.

Second: Had to switch to using Thunderbird as there really is no Outlook Express any more and it doesn't work at all with Mail in Window 10.

Third issue: It works for about a day or two as the 'Pro' version I paid for, but then I have to end up re-entering the product key again for the 'Pro' version to be recognised.

Fourth: Doesn't really block the ' domains'... unless you use the clean function on the Junk folder....where I expected it to do that for me.

Fifth: The 'more' and then 'options' does not work in Thunderbird at all; it simply does nothing. This limits the utility of the program.

The more I think about it... it is probably just easier to just empty the normal junk folder... and you don't really need the help of Spamfighter. For Spamfighter to work well... all these issues need to be resolved... AND it needs, for example, to support REGEX so you can automatically delete any non-sensical email domain from even going to the junk folder. Also, having to switch to using Thunderbird just becuase it works even worse in other clients isn't really acceptable either. AND the support for Windows 10 really isn't acceptable given it is such a vital operating system.

When I installed this programme and it…

When I installed this programme and it came with 3 viruses that installed with it and they wrecked my computer causing me about 2 weeks of massive frustration in eliminating them. I have tried to uninstall this programme and it cannot be uninstalled without Windows gathering information that requires my Windows firewall to be deactivated..... a sure sign that the virus is trying to reinstall itself. I have been obliged to delete the programme from my system, leaving behind all sorts of links and garbage that I am unable to remove. Further more my email client(Thunderbird) was crippled as its config file was irreversibly altered.

Conclusion: Don't go near it!

Spamfighter Works Terribly on Outlook 2019

I bought a 2 year subscription to Spamfighter. I uninstalled it about 2 months later as I found it to be near useless. I use Outlook 2019 so I'm not sure if the Spamfighter developers have not caught up to this Outlook release as some other users think its great. It simply doesn't catch anywhere close to the spam it should to make it a viable. I contacted their Support twice. They did respond immediately but what they suggested didn't work. I didn't even try to ask for my money back as I know that would be mission impossible. I now use Spam Reader which is far more superior.

Dear Sirs, I am sure we would have been able to make it work with your setup if you had just informed us that there still was an issue. We do offer remote support as well where we do it all for you and in the rare cases we actually cant make it work because of an issue with your setup, we ALWAYS offer a refund. Best regards, Spamfighter

I am trying to cancel Spamfighter Pro and have run into a big problem. Nobody will cancel the account! There is no login, there are no instructions, there are no blogs, and there is no response from support. I guess the only way is to dispute the credit card charges.

Never again: Blacklist doesn't work

Blacklist doesn't work. Same emails keep landing in inbox, irrelevant of blacklisted or not. Also when you block an email the same email lands again in your inbox.
Some spammail is blocked though but so does the spamfilter in outlook.
You ask support and you get either a non-valid answer or you don't get an answer at all.
I paid for the pro-version and it was of no use compared to the outlook spam filter. Never again.

Doesn't work anymore.......

Used to work pretty good but now very buggy and bad coding.
We receive over 300 spam emails per day and SpamFighter used to catch about 80% but then dropped to 10% with no apparent cause and no updates. Contacted support and gave all revelant information regarding email client, OS, POP3 etc and mentioned it WAS working but support was terrible and was told to remove the software and install a new version but that couldn't even install and timeout on installing. Contacted support again and they asked the already answered question in the papertrail of email. As soon as showed any type of dosappointment they will ignore you.

Don't waste your money on this, it doesn't work.
They claim to be a Microsoft partenr but it doesn't work with Windows Mail....what a joke.

Another deal breaker.....no matter how many time you blacklist or whitelist an email or doamin SpamFighter doesn't apply the rule so constantly manually deleting spam so no point in installing this crapware.

0 stars for the PAID SPAMfighter program that simply didn't work

0 stars, I emailed about spam continually getting through, only to be told to keep persevering that the program would soon pick things up...months later and I was still having issues, to be told the same thing...months later I found MailWasher Pro and haven't looked back since! MailWasher actually does what it is supposed to do...block spam! SPAMFighter probably just need to stop emailing me now to renew...as it only prompts me find review sites and warn others. I can block them very easily with MAILWasher Pro, but I don't mind being reminded to post another review to warn others. That is what reviews are intended to do aren't they? Warn about the bad experiences and share the good ones.

This is worse than nothing

This is worse than nothing. Many false positives and many false negatives...even the most obvious spams often get through, while private email to me that is not spammy at all gets sent off to the spam folder.

Most unacceptable of all it never gets smarter...it doesn't even stop spam identical to messages I previously blocked.

I am deleting this POS from my computer.

If you are considering to install SPAMfighter, don't ... zero stars.

I installed SPAMfilter on my Mozilla Thunderbird mailer and later on I discovered that it was also installed on my Outlook 16 application.

Before too long my Outlook 16 began posting the following warning:
====
SPAMfighter
ATTENTION! We predict your computer has Registry errors.
====
Clicking on the warning took me to an Internet link where SPAMfighter offered to start a free scan for my operating system, Windows7. The link also claimed that SPAMfighter is a Microsoft Partner.

I did not take the free offer only because I had some bad experiences with free scans of my operating system in the past. Instead, I tried to remove SPAMfighter from my Outlook 16 application. As I did not purposely install SPAMfighter on my Outlook 16 application, I presumed that some add-ins were probably installed behind my back. Sure enough, I found two suspect add-ins as follows:
* Fighters Outlook Plugin
* SPAMfighter Addin
I removed them in the usual way, see the Internet.

That will do it, I said. Alas, the next day the SPAMfighter warning came back and sure enough the unwanted add-ins miraculously reinstalled themselves on my Outlook 16 application.

After that, I disabled the SPAMfighter add-in on my Mozilla Thunderbird and also removed the SPAMfighter add-ins from Outlook 16, and just to be on the safe side I uninstalled the SPAMfiighter application itself in the usual way. And that did the trick. All that forensic work took the best part of a day.

About my opinion about SPAMfighter as a spam filter, I did not notice much spam-filtering action because emails from certain domains that I had tagged as spam kept coming after I tagged them. As for the extracurricular activity of SPAMfighter, I am not impressed. If an application behaves like malware, it is malware, it does not matter that it is your regular run of the mill application.

If you have a SPAMfighter problem and you want to deal with it, don't forget:
1. Disable it on Mozilla Thunderbird, if you use that application.
2. Remove the add-ins from Outlook 16 in the usual way.
3. Uninstall the SPAMfighter in the usual way.
4. Restart your computer.

Stay Away! the reviews about them says it all

STAY AWAY!

we purchased SpamFighter for 70+ users in our company and they were not bad at the start but eventually outages started happening and we gave them chances and chances and eventually we decided to politely cancel the subscription and get a refund but they ignored all emails and eventually also blocked our email and we were unable to email them no more.

they claim 24\7 support and we being in Australia had to wait a two days before they got back to us via email (which by the way was short and simple with no explanation on how they are working on preventing it in the future), and by phone they never answered.

We decided to go with a better bigger brand Mailguard and I suggest if you want to do it right then stay away from Spamfighter.

most reviews are bad anyways about them so don't make the same mistake we did, by giving them a chance.

They aren't cheap and wont refund the pro-rata.

I used their program on my office PC…

I used their program on my office PC for Bus Email and didn't realize until months later they (apparently) attached an advertisement to each of my outgoing business emails (below my signature) saying that I use their program, try it for free, so on. The add is pretty sneaky in that the advertisement doesn't appear to show up on the screen when I'm typing an email and apparently is added to my email when I hit send. I don't recall their asking my permission to attach their advertisement to my outgoing emails. If they did ask, then it's my error, but if they didn't (and I don't believe they did), then that's pretty scummy! I uninstalled the program...
