I honestly don't know where to start
I honestly don't know where to start with this company. Having been trading for over 40yrs, I think they just need to retire and let someone else take over as they are just not in touch anymore. I have over 40 pictures and videos of things that have gone wrong in the last 46 months (first one was 3 months after fitting when the veneer on the door and the edges started warping from the splash from the shower). That's right - this bathroom is less than 4yrs old and it's terrible. The older man who owns the place (one of the owners) is just so impossibly rude and belligerent. They just will not listen or accept that the quality of the products they fitted in my bathroom is substandard. The workmen who do the fitting are superb by the way. Let it be known they are really really good and their fitting skills are excellent.
Things that have gone wrong since 13.12.2021:
- Warped door edges on the cabinet veneer after 3 months of fitting, which has now since been changed 3 times because it just warps again each time - I have now had to buy some seal from Amazon and do a makeshift job myself on it. The colour doesn't match but it's near enough
- Basin bowl seal has gone and is spinning round in its hole after 2.5yrs - I've had a go at re-sealing but it's not my forte so I will ask a friend to have a look
- Plastic toilet seat cracked - how??!!! We sit on it not dance on it!
- Toilet is flushing on its own (ghost flushing) which suggests something is broken inside the cistern which there is no way I could have broken
- Radiator is starting to feel loose - I'll get a friend to have a look at it
- Drains didn't drain properly after fitting, and shower tray kept flooding the floor and then leaking through into the kitchen and flooding the kitchen floor (had to repaint kitchen ceiling) so I got a drain company out to look at it and they said these old bathrooms are not suitable for these shallow shower trays (early 50s build, terrace) which no one advised me of beforehand. I would have chosen a bath with a shower over it had I known.
The rudest of men (one of the owners I think) on the phone recently said "we'll charge you for these issues" and called me "my love" several times as he bellowed his voice at me. He also shouted at me for leaving a truthful review online! That's what reviews are for! I have all the photographic and video evidence so I can completely cover myself. See Google reviews.
Seriously, just be careful. Do your homework. You will get no back up or post-fitting-support. You'll just get fobbed off and charged for repairs for a cheap product if it's over 1yr since they did the job.
I think because I'm a solo woman, the older blokes think I don't know what I'm talking about. It's like dealing with someone in the 1980s who thinks I should shut up and stay at home and polish the front door step. Trust me, I'm a smart solo woman and know exactly when I've been had. I've also talked to other people who have had new bathrooms from other companies who said, comparatively, they have received a much better product for the same price. Splashout also NEVER reply to emails or voicemails.
I hate being fobbed off and I am so so disappointed and angry that I will fight this nonsense and terrible service. I don't expect to be spoken to like an idiot. I don't expect to be lied to or blamed for leaving truthful reviews by an aggressive begrudging old man, and I don't expect to be charged for substandard materials. I don't think £7.5k is cheap for a tiny (and I mean tiny) bathroom fitting. All he kept saying was "we've been doing this for 45yrs blah blah". That doesn't mean I'm not telling the truth though, and it doesn't mean I'm not entitled to respect.
If you're a solo woman, just be careful. They'll treat you like you don't know what they're talking about.
I don't mind things breaking as long as the company takes accountability and does the right thing. Things are always going to go wrong in life, but it's about facing your faults, and accepting when the products are not fit for purpose and they should take that up with their suppliers. NOT take it out on me.
What I absolutely hate is being bawled at by someone who doesn't like being called out because he knows they are in the wrong. This is just not acceptable and not the way successful and ethical businesses trade in 2025.
I have written to trading standards. Let's see where that gets me. Like I've nothing better to do with my time, with poorly parents up north and a full time job to keep on top of. What a great time to be alive!
I had Splashout recommended to me by a gentleman who was a dear and gorgeous friend. He used them years ago. When I told him about all the issues I've had and just before he sadly passed away, he said he was so sorry for recommending them because of the money, time and hassle it has caused me.
We live and we learn but I am not prepared to be treated like a fool.
