UPDATED - I previously wrote a 1 star review for Stihl. I had an unfortunate breakdown of an RMA 235 cordless mower which has lasted 2 UK summers. Not much given the heatwaves the past two years... See more

Stihl customer service is pants (updated 18/7/19).
Stihl customer service is pants. I’ve left several voicemail messages and not had a call back. They never answer the phone. My complaint is regarding a very costly 3hour battery for their long reach hedge trimmer and long reach pole saw. The battery is 3 months past its 2year warranty and all the red lights have come on indicating a dead battery. The battery has been stored fully charged and in the correct dry temperatures. I am currently unable to use my battery powered tools unless I buy a new expensive battery which presumably will only last 2 years the same as this one did!
Disgusting service from Stihl and I won’t be buying anymore of their battery powered tools. Even my local supplier Ernest Doe in Braintree Essex doesn’t seem to be getting much response from them over this problem I’m having.
18/7/19.
I am pleased to be able to report that after a week of not being able to use my cordless equipment that thanks to the negotiating skills of Stuart at Ernest Doe in Braintree where I bought the tools, that Stihl have agreed to replace the battery. I am grateful. Well done Stihl you have restored my confidence in your products and customer care. - Steven Sharland.
Poor consumer help!
The product after it had been returned three times was very good. Unfortunately it had to be returned the first time because the tension screw broke after one day of little use.- it’s recommended to change the tension after a few saws! The second was for excessive smoking from the machine. - it was serviced! Third time they said the chain was blunt. - This after one of domestic use on a log bench! I was charged for the first two rectifications, and given a free chain at the last! Stihl’s response: The technician told me I should not have been charged, but Stihl did nothing to return my money on any occasion! They didn’t even give a positive comment about the third dealer! I won’t be recommending them to anyone.
I brought a Stihl KG770 PUSH SWEEPER …
I brought a Stihl KG770 PUSH SWEEPER after 6 days it broke and a huge crack appeared underneath with a piece braking off so I reported the failing to the supplier they decided that it was user error yet the item was being used for sweeping so between the seller and the manufacturer I'm out over £300.00 and as for trying return under consumer rights they just laugh do not buy any of the sweeping products the base is far to brittle and is its weakness any other company would have at least tried to inspect the product before deciding it was the buyers fault
No customer services and very poor interaction
Useless service
Bought a cordless strimmer complete with battery and charger. Charger failed after two charges. Returned it to shop, they sent it to Stihl. That was nearly three months ago. No idea when it will be fixed. At least they could have offered a replacement so is could use the strimmer without having to buy another ca, £180. Hopeless service and I strongly recommend against buying any Stihl product.
I was sold a stihl M181C-BE chain saw
I was sold a stihl M181C-BE chain saw, after being told it was the best you could get. Stihl were so confident they give a two year warranty, I was told, not that you will need to use it as this saw will not give you any trouble. How did I ever fall for that one?
From day one the saw was back to the shop, got it back told all was fixed.
Next time same fault, back it went. Now you would think it was sorted this time, no the same fault.
The power drops then the saw stopes after fifteen minutes, after some time the saw will start but not at full power.
STIHL have had the saw for three weeks now and no one wants to talk to me about it.
I will try one more time to day, I just want a replacement now.
But if you are thinking about buying a STIHL think again. It might be I got a bad one who knows, all I want is a saw that works and am hoping STIHL are going to do that for me.
Good news I have just got off the phone with STIHL and they have agreed to replace the saw. Thank you STIHL for being so understanding.
Bought a Stihl FS40 petrol strimmer to …
Bought a Stihl FS40 petrol strimmer to replace my electric Wolf Garten one and have been hugely disappointed. For a start the line feed doesn't work so everytime you want a bit more line you have to stop it and dismantle the head to feed more line through. And the wire seems far too thick,is badly wound and therefore gets tangled up.
Stihl Foam Lance
I ordered a foam Lance from World of power, such I simple thing.
It took week's for it to ever materialise, apparently because Stihl had some computer glitch.
Based on the experience of how slow parts are to acquire from Stihl, I don't think I will buy any more of there products.
I should have bought a Karcher or Nilfisk pressure washer.
The best. You get what you pay for.
As an arborist for the last nine years in the UK mainly as well as some work in Australia, Stihl just work. Work hard & good, everyday. You get what you pay for & they are not the cheapest but neither am I.
Thanks Stihl you have made my working career.
